http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/adventure-time-you-forgot-your-floaties-220217

Oh, where to begin with this one?

In You Forgot Your Floaties, Finn and Jake finds out that Magic Man has an apprentice! Who is this apprentice? It’s actually Simon’s fiancée, Betty Grof, who has been studying magic users (Magic, Madness, Sadness) all this time to try to find a cure for Ice King/Simon.

This was a great episode that raises the suspense and stakes for the Finnale. First, knowing what Betty has been doing all this time with her research into magic which echoes Simon’s dabbling in the superstitions/legends (and not a good sign). It also reflects the title of the episode which Crab Simon mouths out at the end, saying that Betty went into deep within magic that she lost herself like him when she has Magic Man’s hat. So now who’ll save Simon and Betty now?

Also, nice to see some Magic Man backstory too and more of Mars and Margles. And when Magic Man turned normal was surprising as well. Not to mention the return of the Tiny Manticore and Golb, the giant red creature also seen in Puhoy.

As to what happened to Finn and Jake in this episode, was rather creepy to say the least with them becoming soup and an egg. Added onto that with Finn becoming bread with Jake splattered onto him.

Can’t wait to see how this leads up into the Finnale.

http://www.watchcartoononline.com/adventure-time-season-6-episode-39-be-sweet

In the episode Be Sweet, after tussling with a raccoon for fried chicken in the woods, LSP is called into babysitting by Tree Trunks and takes care of Sweet Pea for the night which eventually, leads to disaster when Sweet Pea breaks out of his room and wanders into the Candy Kingdom and LSP fighting the raccoon from earlier, making a mess of the house.

I really liked LSP in this episode as she was hilarious throughout from fighting/wrestling with the raccoon to bathing in the kitchen sink to going into hysterics in the kingdom and in front of Banana guards to partaking fried chicken with the coon. Though it seemed liked she gave the raccoon a voice as it sounded much like her yet deeper when she was fighting it. Sounds like she is having an internal crisis.

Nice to see Tree Trunks and Mr. Pig. Also, Sweet Pea still being as sweet as he could be even when trying to find someone to tuck him into bed. I liked the part when that homeless guy in the alleyway gave him trash to eat that he spat out. Sweet Pea’s comet dream felt slightly chilling and ominous esp. the Comet approaches line. Also, did anyone else thought he was gonna turn Lich during this? Surprisingly, he didn’t.

Also, Marceline cleaning out her belly was… 0_0 . LSPita Bread sounds like nice nickname though.

Hmm….

Lumpy Space Princess = LSP

Lich-Sweet Pea = LSP

I liked the episode but I thought that the ending was pretty mean-spirited.

I guess the issue is that LSP never told them what happened, so all they could see was the mess. If she'd mentioned the evil racoon, and Sweet Pea escaping, and learning a lesson then maybe things would have been different.

Then again, maybe LSP just is incapable of really learning from her mistakes

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/adventure-time-orgalorg-220351

So apparently in this recent episode Orgalorg we get to know a little bit more about Gunter after literally knocking out part of his brain out of his skull during a party. Well, a bit more than we bargain for.

Well, first off, the first few minutes of the episode were pretty funny with the party and especially seeing LSP so soon at the party and gambling with fish and getting eaten by a walrus.

However, the tone of the episode does a bit of a 180 after Gunter get his skull cracked, showing his brain and starts creating his universal signal to the distant planet. Not to mention the fact of the elders revealing the prophecies concerning Gunter/Orgalorg and about Glob and Abraham Lincoln. Gunter is becoming more terrifying by minute with these reveals.

And the moral of the episode is ‘Don’t Make Out’.

Now thinking about it, Adventure Time has been killing off a lot of heroes/great entities (Billy, Abraham Lincoln, Glob Brothers) while building up more villains/antagonists (The Lich, Orgalorg/Gunter, Martin, King of Ooo, the Comet). So with that in mind Ooo seems to be screwed if these all clash together or even make an alliance.

Can’t wait to see how all this pans out in the finale.

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/adventure-time-lam-220420

On The Lam checks up on what happened to Martin after the events of The Visitor where he is launched back into space and ends up back to jail where he ‘helps’ with a bunch of cute koala people that drink moth milk, have a cute companion by the name of Martin 2 and still being a jerky deadbeat daddy throughout but we get to learn a bit more about him when interacting with Martin 2 who reminds him of his son.

I liked the cute koala people esp. Martin 2 with the funny reveal that he was old all this time and the Exposition Turtle.

The Star Wars is strong with this one esp. with the little koala people resembling Ewoks/Wookies and the desert/bar scene that is similar to Tatooine along with the Rebel talks.

I don't know why but I can't help but comparing this episode to Dark Purple especially in how Martin 'saves' a Martin 2 and how Susan Strong does the same. While Martin basically abandons as a way to 'save' it, Susan Strong goes to great lengths to retrieve the blonde-haired (hint-hint) baby that was taken to the Super Porp factory.

There seemed to be some kind of parental parallels here.

And that Martin breaking out/thrown back into prison can be seen as a simile or metaphor. As in Parenthood is Martin's prison, no matter how hard he escapes he finds himself flung back into a father-figure like position. And sooner or later, he is going have to accept/face it or else it'll be endless cycle of dodging responsibility.

http://www.watchcartoononline.com/adventure-time-season-6-episode-42-43-hot-diggity-doom-the-comet

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/adventure-time-hot-diggity-doom-chain-220483

Hot Diggity Doom/The Comet marks the end of season 6 as the Catalyst Comet makes it arrival to Ooo during an unofficial/official election for princess of the Candy Kingdom, pitting the King of Ooo against PB. PB loses and leaves the Kingdom with Pep But to live a shack. Soon, Finn and Jake stumble upon Gunter/Orgalorg and his plan and chase after him to confront him along with meeting Martin along the way and the Catalyst Comet.

It was definitely a great finale! There is just so much to talk about with this one.

Well, first off, there is a number of throwbacks and continuity from past episodes from The Tower that Finn mentioned to New Frontier with Banana Man to Finn’s grass sword. Secondly, some of the shots of animation look really beautiful such as the sunset scene when PB leaves the Candy Kingdom and space when Finn sings his universal intention song.

There were definitely funny moments with Starchy and throwing the trash can at the window, Banana Guards throwing spears at the comet, the Catalyst Comet’s list including ice cream waffles, video games and Saucy with Tree Trunks and Mr Pig kissing (I lost it at that part), and the fish saying that he’ll croak.

Not to forget the major events including the fall of the Candy Kingdom as predicted during the events of Hoots when Gunter messed up the dream (at least, no bloodshed) and PB stepping down from power, Gunter morphing into Orgalorg and absorbing the comet, Finn and Jake drifting in space, Finn meeting up with Martin, Finn’s grass arm and remembering that he was a comet in the past, The Catalyst’s offer to take Finn away and Finn’s decision to stay and accepting that his dad might never change while Martin taking Catalyst’s offer and Orgalorg reverting back into Gunter.

Overall, a great end for a great season and I’m anticipating the next season more than ever. Also, giving us more questions onto what is to come: what is going to happen to Simon and Betty? Will The Lich arise out of Sweet Pea? Will Gunter turn back into Orgalorg? Can PB get back her kingdom? What is going to happen to Finn’s grass arm? What about the blue goop creature from Joshua and Margaret’s Investigations?

Again, can’t wait to see what the 7th will unfold.

But I’m hoping that we get more news about the upcoming Adventure Time miniseries and that it’ll keep us occupied until the new one. Also, very eager to see more Marceline as the miniseries revolves around along with a new foe for Finn and Jake.

GUYS, THIS IS ALGEBRAIC.

I know I don't come to this forum often enough, but when I come I bear great news.

Adventure Time season 7 is starting November 2 and shortly will be premiering a mini-series named 'Stakes' circling Marceline and starring Rebecca Sugar (former writer and creator of Steven Universe)! I'm freaking stoked!

I've also heard that Adventure Time writers are diverting from their season 5 and 6 style (small stories on tier 3 character or deeper stories about love and loss with Finn) and going back to their roots with more fun, adventure, and season 2 and 3 style episodes!

I know a lot of fans have dropped off, but this is definitely a time to pick it back up again. :D

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

'Stakes' is the entire backstory of Marceline the Vampire Queen and Rebecca Sugar is voicing her mother.

Article: http://tinyurl.com/ntpwmhl

Leaked opening to 'Stakes' mini-series:

Sneak-peek of Rebecca Sugar as Marceline's Mother:

P.S. The producers haven't confirmed Marceline/Bubblegum to be canon during the Stakes mini-series, but it has been confirmed by Pen in the past, so I pretty much consider than the golden rule.

Adventure time is still alive!?

Man I was wondering what the heck happened to that series, felt like it dropped off the earth during Gravity Falls and Steven Universe pretty much started dominating the cartoon scene.

Man I was wondering what the heck happened to that series, felt like it dropped off the earth during Gravity Falls and Steven Universe pretty much started dominating the cartoon scene.

It's been on a hiatus for the last 3 or 4 months (which most of us assumed was for the movie), but I don't think the last two seasons have been as popular. Pretty dark themes and Finn going through weird love/puberty shhhh.

Example:

I think Steven Universe filled a void for a lot of fans that were looking for more narrative in their entertainment. I personally am a fan of both.

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/lackluster-adventure-time-season-premiere-needs-ge-227775

http://www.watchcartoononline.com/adventure-time-season-7-episode-1-bonnie-neddy

I really disagree with the review on this being a C+ episode. I consider it to be more of a B/B+.

So we begin the new season of Adventure Time in the aftermath of last season's finale with the new princess of the Candy Kingdom being the King of Ooo who has begun knighting Finn and Jake in some kind of swanky armor. They soon discover a candy dragon that produces the lifeblood of the kingdom known as candy juice which the princess king wanting to use it for his greedy gain and because of that the dragon escapes who is later revealed to be Bonnibel's brother, Neddy.

Getting to know about Ooo's history as well as character backstory is a plus and here we get to see PB's origins from the Mother Gum (possibly what Simon Petrikov interacted with during the end of Simon and Marcy ep). And just to add that PB's baby form is just too adorable along with her interactions with her shy brother and the whole tongue clicking thing. It shows how much connection they have for one another despite one being an introvert and the other an extrovert and that there is nothing wrong with that. Though Neddy suckling on roots may feel a bit awkward to watch. I also liked Finn and Jake's dialogue about the armor too.

Sure may not be as epic as last season's opener and finale, but still a good start for the season.

Favorite lines:

King of Ooo: *Singing the money song. "Looks like the Candy Kingdom empire is finished! But the four of us can still live like kings when the juice runs out."

Jake: "This armor is hot like fire!" "But Neddy's from the same place you're from and he's a wet hotdog around everyone."

PB: "Why do I always got to unblizz everything?" "No holds barred, moose wood stadium free style."

Finn: *Autotuned gasp "Pretty quiet, huh?" "No way! I change my mind. I feel like a fancy shield or a dangerous candlestick, like a knight's candlestick."

http://www.watchcartoononline.com/adventure-time-season-7-episode-2-varmints

The episode Varmints gives us a Finn and Jake-less adventure and starring the bubblegum princess and vampire queen as they try to fend off Alien-inspired monsters from devouring the pumpkin ‘citizens’ and reminiscing about their friendship and how farther apart it became due to royal duties.

Marceline and PB’s interactions were great and definitely built up their characters’ and bond with one another. Also, PB letting out her heart out and frustrations about losing her home and kingdom and how she pushed everyone away felt really touching and legit along with the ending scene. This is why I prefer AT’s princesses over MLPFiM’s that they’re unique and have more depth them (esp. more so than Celestia and Cadence). Not to mention them fighting the varmints was pretty cool with PB’s gun that can turn things into batteries and even shoot out another gun to dual wield and Marcy’s shapeshifting powers. Also, I like PB's trucker like outfit.

Favorite quotes/lines:

KoO: “Bubblegum is fine, just fine. And deposed. And powerless.”

KoO: “Tell Bubblegum I wear her nightgown! Tell EEEEEEVERYONE!”

Peppermint Butler: “Be cool, Marceline. (Cocks shotgun.) Let’s all be real cool.”

Marcy: So how long are you gonna sit out here for?

PB: As long as it takes (cocks chotgun).

Marceline’s anecdote about the shrimp sample vomit.

PB: “Yo, varmints! You hungry? I’ll eat your mom! I’ll eat your eggs!”

Marcy: I’ll watch the heck out of this pumpkin patch.

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/cherry-cream-soda-grieves-and-rebuilds-touching-ad-227945

http://www.watchcartoononline.com/adventure-time-season-7-episode-3-cherry-cream-soda

This episode follows Cherry Cream Soda’s life after her husband Root Beer Guy died during the events of Something Big and now married to Starchy the gravedigger.

The start of the episode is pretty great with some of the somber tones and how the kingdom looks dilapidated. Also, the flashback on how they were created and met/married was pretty sweet and complimented the scene well. Though the flashback scene reminded me of the episode All the Little People when Finn messed with the miniature versions themselves and caused a lot of shipping. Not to mention CCS and DBG getting together and wanting to know each other is good too.

The revival of Root Beer Guy was somewhat to be expected, but his new look as a dirt zombie is pretty nice along with still retaining his humanity.

Starchy getting a big role as CCS’s new hubby is a surprise and almost stole the entire show with his dialogue and actions. I hope he gets bigger roles in the future as well.

Favorite Quotes:

Starchy: “We can’t all be a cute little character with a cute little straw stickin’ out of our cute little head.”

CCS: “That seems macabre. But sweet.”

RBG: “Hi sweetie! I was dead but I came back to life! That is really something!”

CCS: “I’m with Starchy. I mean, we’re legally married. You’re legally dead! Not that I want to sound obsessed with legalities, but I am a lawyer.”

Starchy: “Starchy knows all the fresh widows in town, and Starchy chose you! Starchy wuuuvs you!”

Jake: “He didn’t bite you, did he?”

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/silliness-reigns-when-adventure-time-goes-back-bas-228024

http://www.watchcartoononline.com/adventure-time-season-7-episode-4-mama-said

Mama Said brings Adventure Time back to its silly and strange season 1&2 roots and gives us a fun comedic straightforward story about Finn and Jake out on a mission from KOO to retrieve a flying mushroom while running into Billy’s ex, Canyon who is trying to find an ancient spring and encountering a mega-mush that spouts mushroom facts.

It also has significance as it questions Finn and Jake’s loyalty towards the Candy Kingdom or more specifically KOO which of course they get fired after presenting them a mushroom pizza. With Candy Kingdom’s protectors fired, the entire kingdom is vulnerable at this point (well, there still is Rattleballs but that’s for another time). I did find it hilarious when the banana guard pushed the king off the stairs so he could fall flat on his face.

It was nice to see Canyon to make an appearance despite not doing much than chatting with Finn about quitting being KOO’s knight and using some neat water bending skills.

A definitely fun episode.

Favorite Quotes:

K.O.O.: “What would you think if you saw me on a giant flying mushroom?” Dirt Beer Guy: “Boy! That’d really be somethin’!”

Finn: “Did you notice he was wearing Princess Bubblegum’s clothes?” Jake: “Yeah, that was sorta cool.”

Canyon: “That’s who’s running the Candy Kingdom now? What a tool.”

Finn: “We’re learning a lot about mushrooms today.”

Finn: “This could just be a big mush-understanding.”

Jake: “Hey, that was poor spore-tsmansh—WHOOP! Mid-joke! You monster!”

A bit late but..

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/adventure-time-turns-bmos-identity-crisis-tense-ps-228098

http://www.watchcartoononline.com/adventure-time-season-7-episode-5-football

The episode Football revolves around BMO’s mirror friend of said name that usually appears during the 5 Grayble episodes.

Finn and Jake were funny and nice when they were playing along with BMO’s game/Football. Shows how much they’re like family. Not to mention Neptr makes a return and felt sorry for him when he got beaten up by Football with the bat. Speaking of which, the episode really set a slightly neat psychological thriller tone later in when BMO is stalking Football

I really like how they portray the mirror world as it is just an empty reflective scene of the bathroom. Very different from what you expect like some kind of mirror-verse or alternate dimension that other stories tend to tell. Also, how it relies on perspective and flat imagery too.

Finally, the fact that they don’t explain whether or not it was just made up and all in BMO’s head or that it actually happens and leaves it as a mystery. A definitely fun and cute BMO episode.

Favorite Quotes:

Football: “Let’s not leave it so long next time, Carlos.”

Finn: “Get out of my fruit, man. You’re cute, but you’re dirty.”

Finn: “Hey, Jake? BMO went all hog-wild in the bathroom.” Jake: “Grooooss!”

Football: “There is no beauty in the bathroom.”

Poor Advent, rambling all by himself. I guess this season isn't much of an interest to anyone is it?

I have fallen at least 4 seasons behind adventure time so its gonna take me ages to catch up. but brief spoiler what happened to princess bubblegum's kingdom?

I still watch, but no one ever posts in here! I just don't think anyone in SSMB cares anymore.. though I love Adventure Time and how its themes develop with Finn's maturation. It's definitely turned a dark corner, so I can see why many cartoon fans turned to SU or GF with their lighter themes and more concrete narratives.

Yes, her character has developed quite a bit in season 6. Through a series of events, Bubblegum tuned down her surveillance of her citizens and decided to rule with less of a magnifying glass. The kingdom then held an election and the King of Ooo won the vote. Though it's a fake election, PB basically said "fuck it, I need a break anyway." Then Bubblegum  and Peppermint Butler took up residence near the Candy Kingdom. It's really weird to see her let go of ruling and responsibility and really develop as more of a laid back person. Plus! She's been hanging out A LOT with Marceline which I think was a good lead up to "Stakes."

So this King of Ooo, is he trustworthy? doesn't sound like it if the election was faked to get him into power.

Good for PB though, she never seemed all that interested in ruling a kingdom anyways. guess she just goes by Bubblegum now though right?

Nah, the King of Ooo is basically a scam artist who convinces most people he's Ooo royalty. He's about fame, narcissism, and money, but he's not evil. So I don't think PB thought he could do much harm. But she did persuade Finn and Jake to serve him (more in to their loyalty to the Candy Kingdom).

King of Ooo's election pitch.

Good for PB though, she never seemed all that interested in ruling a kingdom anyways. guess she just goes by Bubblegum now though right?

I can see where you may have gotten this impression from the first couple of seasons, but this is definitely not the case. PB, before her letting go, was a crazy overbearing mother to the Candy people. Often times even crossing over the line in terms of privacy or interfering with other kingdoms for her kingdom's safety. She created all of them and basically spent all of her time either guiding them (because they're idiots) or creating a better life for them via science.

The last two seasons we've seen glimpses of Candy Kingdom history and I think that's where you see most of her love stem. Honestly, she was getting annoying in season 6 with crazy mother syndrome, I'm glad AT writers decided to go in this direction instead. Even if it was a bit unexpected.
