I tried searching for a topic like this, however the search didnt return anything so feel free to lock this or whatever if there exists a topic like this. Anyway;
We've all had them. Be it our first console, a certain game that redefined gaming for you, a certain level, moment, song or even a birthday or christmas which made you the happiest guy or gal in the world as it plunged you into a fantastic video game experience.
I'm a sucker for nostalgia, and I love to relieve some awesome moments in them. Nowadays when I go back and play a game that made me jizz my pants all over back in the day, I always smile the same when I go and play an old game and I enjoy it just as much, if sometimes not even more. So, why not have a topic sharing some of our most treasured moments in videogaming? This can be anything, things that made you happy, sad, angry, terrified, as long as you find it nostalgic by your eyes.
For me, the Nintendo 64 was the golden era of videogaming. I grew up with a NES, and I never had an SNES, but I used to play it alot at dad's work. But when I visited my neighbour's house for the first time I noticed he had an N64. I was confused as I was still a young gun and had no idea about a new Nintendo console and things like that, and it looked so real and awesome. I came over to his house often and started to play Mario Kart 64, it was the first N64 game I ever played. In fact, some days I would even come to his house when he wasn't even home and his dad was only there. I wished for a Nintendo 64 for Christmas and got one; Super Mario 64 was amazing, I however didn't get Mario Kart 64 for a year or so, but once I did I was having the time of my life, and once I finally reached the credits, it felt like a testament of how much videogaming had made my life so awesome. In fact, watching endgame credits of videogames was some of the things I loved to do the most in games because when I wasnt that good at games, it'd take me weeks to fully finish a game, and when I then saw the awesome closing lines with an amazing new song that felt rewarding, it felt like I was on the top of the world in everything.
Now when I see the end credits to Mario Kart 64, I literally shed a manly tear of happiness. It was the pinnacle of my childhood, and nothing will ever compare to it as long as I live.
Same goes for Yoshi's Story. One of the things that really surprised me when I first reached the internet was how shafted this game was by the community. I adored this game, and to be honest it was actually pretty scary at some points, and I wouldn't had the balls to continue. I'd sometimes not touch the game for a day or few, but whenever I got through these things I felt so damn successful. This was the first game I ever played that felt like a true adventure, and once I reached the end I must have felt as happy as the Yoshis did for finally returning their tree back.
Enough about me now. What are some of your greatest stories?

My life with video games began with Super Mario 64 roughly 14 years ago. I loved that game so much- it had so many challenges and secrets that kept me playing the whole summer. I remember how much I struggled to beat Bowser in the final fight because I couldn't quite hit that last spike ball when the corners fell, so I rejoiced when I finally beat him. And it has one of my favorite ending sequences and credits music to this day.
Some other nostalgic classics from my N64 days are Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Yoshi's Story, Donkey Kong 64 and Super Smash Bros.
Then along came the Game Boy. My favorites on that were Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Wario Land 2 and 3, Kirby's Dream Land 2, the Game & Watch Gallery games, Pokemon RBY and Pokemon Pinball.
I guess video games are just more immersive when you're younger because there's a greater sense of life and mystery to them.

Ah, I always get a little misty when I think about how awesome my introduction to gaming was. For all purposes, I was a kid who didn't have friends over very often and I spent most of my time in my room playing pretend games with my action figures, legos, and clay things I would make.
Don't get me wrong, we had a NES growing up and even a SNES in my room as I recall, but I was always too afraid to play the games without someone next to me. Probably because my mom bought me fucking Killer Instinct as one of the first games I remember playing. Still have it and boy, that shit fucks with a 7 year old's mind! However, that wasn't the end for me, fast forward a few years later I would always run off in WalMart to go play the N64 demo kiosk they had. Remember my neck always hurting after playing it, that shit was at the worst angle EVER! The one game I remember playing a lot was Banjo-Kazooie and I always told my mom about it. The Chirstmas, I finally got a N64 and a copy of BK and boy, color me the happiest kid alive! I spent forever playing it (yet it still took me years to beat, I only just beat it back in summer of 2001) and every time I unlocked a new level, or opened a new door, I was so happy!
I also remember getting Mario Kart 64, Yoshi Story, and Diddy Kong Racing that year. Man, what an awesome way to begin my gaming obsession!
Yeah, awesome! I remember the day they changed out the game, too. I kept pestering the lady to "Put Banjo in" XD! Man, if I could go back in time I would stand there for 8 hours and beat the game ;D.

As a kid I remember my big brother playing all kinds of NES games. I could watch him play all day if I could, but of course I would play outside too. I would get scared of a few games and my sister would tease me about it ever since. But today those games weren't as scary as I thought then. I would get excited when my brother would bring home a video game console.
I remember in the 8th or 9th grade that I was playing Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and I beat the game. I love that game. The music that was playing in the Bramble Blast stage was awesome. I liked playing as Dixie. Diddy's pretty cool too.

Tomorrow, I'm turning 18. To commemorate my childhood, I just plugged back in the N64 and played Super Mario 64...

First game I ever played was Bubble Bobble on my father's Amiga nearly 20 years ago. I started my videogaming all those years ago on the Amiga playing stuff like Rodland, SuperFrog, Lemmings, Robocod, Fire and Ice, Pushover, Rainbow Islands and Putty. There's many more but my memories are hazy. I still love Lemmings to this day. I have such fond memories of playing it with my dad before his disownment of me for no reason pushed us apart.
I remember playing Master System and MegaDrive Sonic games with my cousin and sisters. My older sister and cousin in particular putting all of their efforts into completing Sonic 2 MS but never clearing Scrambled Egg Zone due to the confusing layout. Amongst my fondest childhood memories is playing Sonic games with my kin.
I'll never forget getting Pokemon Red and Blue. Kept me glued for hours on my ancient grey Gameboy back in '98/'99.
