Axel and Thunderbolt are about even, although I'd rate Thunderbolt a bit higher than Axel. Axel is stern, strict, and a bit basic, but his logic in taking care of the people he's aligned with, even if he doesn't like them, puts him higher than most other Egg Bosses I'd like. Thunderbolt, however, is the much more interesting character. She's small, she psycho, she loves working for the most evil man on the planet. And despite her comical size and portrayal, she is dangerous as fuck. Despite being incredibly small, she takes on Sonic's group and nearly wins if it weren't for Sonic going Werehog at that moment, then she has the balls to take on fucking Knuckles and Mighty (well mainly Knuckles). You gotta give her props.

And then runs off screaming like a little girl when she finally realises she's in over her head. :P

She seems to largely take the role Lein Da had, the female villain that is such a sadistic and arrogant bitch that Sonic can look good beating her up and making her look like a buffoon.

Funny, I never got that feel from her.I mean, she looks looks scary with that mask and cape, naming herself after goodness of death and stuff, but I got impression that it's just for show. When's she not in control of situation she acts like concern mummy caring for her troops, her allies, a little cute animals. Even when she attacks Carrotia she says "Hold still, I'll make it quick" like she just wants to end this violence.

Also (that's just personal preference),I think Battle Lord would be second in command. He has strength, authority and ego for that. (But if Eggman was choosing he would put Clove, since she seems smartest and would hate every minute of that, but would do it anyway for Cassia's sake)

But that's what would make Nephthys more fitting for the role of 2IC, because she would show concern for those things and not want to see them wasted. So she would choose the path of least resistance and make gains that way compared to Eggman's high risk high reward manner of tactics.

Also, it's not a matter of personal preference, but capability nevermind loyalty. For that reason, Battle Lord would actually be one the worst choices to choose as 2IC of the empire, because that guy has ulterior motives of his own that don't align with what Eggman has in mind. Clove would be a defent choice, as she's more loyal than Battle Lord by comparison (not sure if that says much, mind you), but I don't think Eggman would want to give that position to someone who is more concerned for her sister than the empire - and giving her all those resources knowing who she is, Clove as we know her might use that power to backstab him just to escape from the empire and/or reform it into something Eggman wouldn't like.

But Nepth doesn't want Eggman to conquer everything. She wants delicate balance, to keep as much freedom as possible. She has her own agendas too. Most Egg Bosses has them. The only ones who are really loyal to Eggman Empire are Thunderbolt, Tundra, Abyss (none of them seems smart enough to be 2IC), Axel and Maw.

Still, Eggman doesn't want loyal second in command, he wants competent one. After all he loves playing "the game" with his sub bosses.

So if Eggman was logical he would pick Axel or Maw. Since he's a cruel child loving risk he would pick Clove and force her to burn villages or Cassia will suffer. But if you put all bosses in one room and had to make discussion, I imagine Battle Lord leading the meeting.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows Nephthys doesn't want Eggman to conquer everything - her alignment was kinda the part I said I didn't like and would prefer to see changed to someone who would support it.

Like, that was the entire point I was making over her - it was never about who Eggman would appoint as a 2IC, but the things we liked about our favorite Egg Bosses and why. You are completely derailing it into something else now.

EDIT: And not to be rude, but I also just said in that post that it was about capability and loyalty, so you weren't exactly paying attention to everything I was saying.

Okay, so just to be sure: You're saying that Nepth would be great 2IC if she fitted your vision of character, right?

Pretty much.

As she is now, that would be contradicting a lot of story logic if that happened.

Just checking but when was 283 supposed to be out?
EDIT: I found out. Well I got it today, for the first time in a while Archie sent me the book early.

That reminds me of character called Vulpina from Miraculous Laybug cartoon. When she was advertised a lot of people got exited before knowing anything about her. When she was revealed to be villain a lot of people were angry for "ruining" the character.

Obviously that's extreme example, but I wanted to ask if it applies to you? That you assumed that she's X and got slightly disappointing when she turned out to be Y?

Spoiler

So this issue begins with Sonic and Sally preparing a broadcast for all their allies around the world, while Tails flies Big, Cream, and Cheese down to the surface in Opa Opa. The Broadcast begins with Sonic (And visual aid from NICOLE) informing everyone that they have all seven Chaos Emeralds, Lupe and the Wolfpack, and Mighty's Group watching on (And I mean Ray and Moss when I say that). Cream and Big meet up with Vanilla, Big carrying a large metal container. Sonic (Again with visuals from NICOLE) lets everyone know that they also have all 7 Gaia Keys. Sally tells everyone that the keys mean that they have a way to restore all the Chaos Emeralds at the same time from one single location. Dulcy and crew watch a the Desert Raiders look a bit nervous. Cream meanwhile tells Vanilla of their latest adventures as Gemerl shows up, their armed escort as he puts it. Sally lays down the plan, since Eggman only knows about the temples they can coordinate a simultaneous strike against him, catching him off guard and distracting him long enough for the Emeralds to be put back in place. The Meoropian's and the Commander watch on. Meanwhile Cream informs Gemerl of their mission as they approach Castle Acorn. Sally assures everyone that this plan is just to distract Eggman, not take him out. Sonic chuckles that Eggman will be so ticked at this. Uncle Chuck, Honey, and the Chaotix watch on, while Cream thanks the King for giving them his aid.Sally explains that two of their best have taken the emerald and the keys to be stored in the Acorn vault until it's time to put the world back together. Sonic then lets chip have a few words to say thanks to everyone for helping them fix the world. Sally asks if they have their support and everyone answers yes (Sonar freaks out a bit but Neph reassures her that they can work around this and that she wouldn't tell Eggman). With the broadcast over the team takes a breath and prepares for what comes next, except Sonic who says that next is planning the victory party (Nice image of Sally and Rotor dancing). Meanwhile Tails Doll transmits everything it just saw to Eggman. In the second story Orbot receives the transmission and goes to show Eggman who is busy Quarantining Phage so he can yell at her. Orbot tries to get his attention but he is busy with Phage. She tells him that she attempted to get him a Red Star Ring and a Chaos Emerald, and that she has trolled the G.U.N email severs. After asking if any of those efforts succeeded she replied that "All G.U.N personnel have been contacted by a fabricated Prince of Mazuri." Orbot finally gets Eggman to watch the transmission, which he watches up to the point where Sonic brings Chip on screen. Having learned about the Keys, the vault and the one connecting location Eggman tells Phage he has a job for her if she'll do as he says, then calls up Wendy the Battle Lord, Nack and Metal Sonic. The BL picks up first and Eggman tells him he is to take his armada and knock the Sky Patrol out of the sky. Phage syncs with Tails Dolls data (as Eggman told her to) and Wendy and Nack pick up. Eggman tells Wendy to send the Witchcarters to back up the Hooligans, as they'll need the extra muscle to rob the Castle Vault. Nack points out that this job needs more than what he's got and Eggman assures him that he's also Sending in Metal Sonic, who arrives in the room. After telling everyone to get into position Eggman tells Metal that he'll be part of a plan that humiliates and puts an end to Sonic. He then Hugs him and orders a status report on Eggman Land. Badnik horde has been brought back up thanks to shipping in badniks from the Egg Bosses, the defenses are back online, the infrastructure repairs are going slow, but the collection of all the Dark Gaia energy is almost complete. Eggman sets course for Eggman land so that he can charge the Death Egg with the energy so that it will run at full power forever. As he ponders over the one thing he did not understand in the FF's Broadcast (That being the one place they could access the temples from) Metal Sonic shows archived footage of him threatening the Old Man from Apotos. Orbot points out that they never followed up on that, and that after the Sky Patrol left Apotos its flight path was deliberate according to the Tails Doll. Eggman deduces that it has to be there and prepares for the final assault. Off Panel is Orbot and Cubot getting berated by Eggman, asking where would they even find work outside of him. The approach the legs of Doctor Doom and Darth Vader before it cuts back to them agreeing that no one but Eggman would take them.

Spoiler

So... Cream's "key role"... The thing I've been waiting anxiously for and was hoping would make up for all the shit she received throughout SWC... Is that she recruits Gemerl, gets King Acorn's aid, and places the Emeralds and Key in the Acorn Vault...? Is there anything more to this? I'm really desperate to know

EDIT- Actually, nevermind! I took the time to actually read the second story and something tells me that Cream's true "key role" is going to be in 284! That is assuming she's still in Castle Acorn with Big and Gemerl. It's another month of damn waiting but I'll accept it if Cream finally gets into action. If not, Ian is dead to me. Entirely. Although if there's still more to Cream's role in this issue can you still tell me?

Written out spoilers on this board have NEVER read cohesive to me. I'm sure the actual issue is less confusing.

Or until the Anniversary year is over I guess. Because for some stupid reason Classic Sonic's a "Different Franchise" from Modern.

Anyway sounds like some fun issues. I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record but I friggin love Dan and Luis work. I honestly think this one works best as a single cover. Am I the only one thinking the next arc will be about Wendy's hunt for the Conch? I just feel like this is supposed to be another trilogy of arcs for some reason.

Friendly reminder that, unless they're planning to cram in an extra issue or two into the next two months, those release dates probably aren't accurate.

These look pretty cool!

I'm looking forward to the Shattered World Saga finishing after three years, and seeing Knuckles punch that troll's teeth in will be so cathartic after all the trouble he caused both pre- and post-reboot!

Unfortunately, this pretty much shoots down my hopes of Chaos joining the fight against Perfect Dark Gaia. Maybe he'll pop up in Knuckles's story.
