Sheesh Brian, I thought you were "standing in the middle". Yet all you do is criticize the writing. I haven't seen you say a single positive thing since the whole thing started.

EDIT: I did myself the disservice of reading that rant, and you know what, I'm glad you feel you have to make these rants. Simply because if you got what you wanted, the comic would be boring as all get out. It'd basically be ass whippings of Generations proportions in every issue, followed by a 3 page long spread of Sonic and sally making out or something. Stuff like that makes for underwhelming video games, and bad reading in general.

Frankly, Eggman needs to win battles more often. He can't be taken serious if he constantly loses. Hell, Metal Sonic has this exact problem. Lots of game players refuse to take him as the serious threat he's portrayed to be because he's never had any significant victories against Sonic. This is probably falling on deaf ears cause you clearly don't care about having decent villains, but damn.

Isn't there also that really terrible bit of artwork from that scene where Bunny seems to have a leg missing with tubes wired upto her bewbs and urm... .. .... treasure chest... she's crying in it and the words "You are one of us..." are being spoken to her?

I've no idea whats going on... but I'm quite sure it's not supposed to be a happy scene.

If you want, take the time and watch some of vids over at the YT and you'll see for yourself, that I have said that Ian is potential a good writer, that can be great, only if he writes stories correctly and doesn't push too many buttons.

One group over at the DA website which calls itself "The Anti-Mecha Sally group"and whose tagline is "Down with Ian's abomination!" Has made it clear that they do not want this continuing, and even though the group is only about three weeks old, it already has near 20 members

Well I guess that Ian better end this storyline then. *sarcasm*

What would you the game oriented fans do if characters like Amy and let's say Shadow where put in the same predicaments that Sally and Antoine a currently in. How would you react?

Moot point since I doubt Sega would let Amy get roboticized, and Sega characters are safe from being killed off.

But maybe when you think about it he's trying to send a message or may be he's trying to tell those in charge at Archie comics that he wants to officially publish his Other-M webcomic as an official graphic novel. But again we can only speculate.

No Ian is not trying to make the comic like "Other M". Why do you keep bringing this up?

Mr. Ian Flynn is on very very very very borderline thin ice.

Well I'm pretty sure that Ian knows how to swim.

Ok being serious now I very much doubt that Ian's on thin ice. The people at Archie seem happy with his work on the Sonic comic. So even though Ian might be on thin ice with you, there are also a lot of people who are happy with the direction that he's taking the comic.

Oh I missed that one...

I doubt many fans would care. Because it's already happened. Twice!

In Fleetways Sonic the Comic Amy did get turned into a robot... Once during the 'Girl Trouble' ark, she is almost turned into a robot at the end, but Sonic saves her, it's quite cool! She looks like the robot from the movie Metropolis (the movie).

The second was during the end of the Revolution Saga, this was the one when Robotniks robot Brutus was attempting to overthrow robotnik and take control as dictator, suddenly at the end of one ark, a Robot Amy Rose appears, she gets turned back in the next issue.

The only real complaint about it is that the art isn't so great, however the artist himself accepts that it's not his finest hour and that he's more a writer than an artist, although there is something about it that relfect the alternative distopia that Brutus was about to bring.

You mean this utter clusterfuck?

Oh yes! Thats the one! I bet the people at 'I'm angry and hate mech Sally' over at devinart couldn't find a darker/more disturbing image since Sally went RoboRoyal than that one, even if it is a but ugly image.

Also incidentally, I'm quite convinced that that particual image is a homage to a much better drawn and far darker comic, the Terminator comics, I think it was 'The enemy Within' series had an scene that looked very very similar.

The hilarious irony is the art is by Jon Gray, who arguably has he most cartoony artstyle for the comics. But then again, you can't blame him for such a terrible issue. I cant believe I actually have a copy of this issue, I feel ashamed.

Brian I understand your viewpoint, but seriously you're a 30 something year old man who's getting really upset at an all ages comic book.

We get it you don't like Sally being roboticized. But you don't need to keep bringing it up.

@Marcellove Soz dude shouldve put the spoiler tags on

@Hogfather well done bringing up the Robo Amy's from FLEETWAY both were cool in design but like you say the second one's drawing by Kitching wasnt the best (still holds place in my mind as I grew up with it :P )

@Lucy I second that Ian knows when to hold back and Archie know they are on a high after numerous sites have reviewd the comics and been giving great comments about it. Sonic is actually getting very popular again and lets be grateful about it.

Funny with the Robo Sally situation kinda reminded me when in FLEETWAY's days in 2000 when Johnny Lightfoot was killed off by CHAOS, I felt so sad as this was a character that ive been attached to since 1993 and for the group to go through a death of there own (especialy in FLEETWAYS comic's was a new thing) unfortunatley the comic as well all know died soon after so the guys couldnt fully plan longer stories and had to significantley shorten the original ending. :(

@Aquaslash Glad you mentioned about the comic just being happy lovey dovey because when you look back at Archie's issues early days till like issue 30 onwards it was all comicy comedy cutesy etc, some of Fleetways were like that but Fleetway had the guts to have Robotnik win and conquer the world in the 9th issue all the way till issue 100, Infact some readers on here are so glad the Archie Robotnik is finally showing his evillnes to its awesomness (just like Sonic Chronicles) some should research the Fleetway Robotnik he was a truley evil genius very terrifying, except for the famous eldorado joke line in issue 2 lmao.

@Bwrosas Man let the conspiracy of Ian's 'Other-M' go will ya if anything the Silver Saga in Sonic Universe was Ian's kinda love letter to it, and Archie & the editor Paul would have final say as well as SEGA overseeing the comic as well

I was upset about Sally being roboticized at first too Brian, and with the recent spoilers for 234. HOWEVER, this only makes me anticipate the next issue that much more, to see what is going to happen next. I hope Sally does eventually get cured but even if she doesn't or she dies as the result of her robot body exploding or something, I fully trust that Ian will make the story engaging in a way that won't feel like a bastardization.

I've said this before and I might as well say it again. I kind of feel bad for Ian sometimes.

If he does a story with Sally the Sega Sonic fans will complain that he's forcing SonAlly on them.

If he does a story where something bad happens to one of the "Satam" characters then the "Satam" fans complain that he hates "Satam" and is a SonAmy supporter.

What everyone needs to realise is that Ian has no agenda for the book. People also forget that Sega approves everything in the book.

Ian and Archie have mandates that they must fellow.
Sonic will never be in a long-term relationship.
The comic won't become as dark as "Other M".

Bottom line there is no secret agenda by Archie or Ian.

I can't believe that I missed this comment earlier. Potential!?! I don't know about you but to me Ian has proving himself as a good Sonic writer.

only if he writes stories correctly and doesn't push too many buttons.

So you want him to write safe boring stories where no one ever gets hurt, and everyone lives happily ever after?

Know what, i wasn't going to vocalize my opinion on this shit but i might as well.

I for one love where the comics are going now a days. I started reading from #185 just out of fucking curiousity and maybe get a fucking laugh out of it (in a bad way) Ian's writing got me interested in reading another comic then another then another and fuck by #189 i was hooked. i haven't looked back on any past issues save for ones that was for plot importance because i didn't want to go near Pender's dribble and terrible art Whoever druged through those issues all those years you have more will then i do. Ian has done what i thought wasn't possible, Turn me into liking the comics! Me, who liked SATAM then started hating it and the comics with them (mainly because of what Penders was turning the comics into combinded with SATAM fanboys) and was a total game-only universe person at one point, Hell thats gotta say something about the quality the comics have upped in these years.

I'd say let Ian keep doing what hes doing more power to him he has my support.
