Who's calling out? I know it wasn't me, I was just saying "you're right, this is why and what I learned as to why that is right".

Was talking to Adamis Fox, not you.

Only the 2000AD style was directed at you.

So on 255, I didnt mind it, I will admit the art was rough, but otherwise it was a solid enough edition, and it continues the story, and I am excited about what happens next

also, I have read the first 50 or so sonic the comics recently, and it is very little like the games when it comes to additional character designs, or even story designs(and also evil mario bro clones run Casinopolis), not to mention those tails miniseries

To the guy(s) saying that the comic will be oh so predictable beacuse it's adapting the games, take a look at the Megaman comics,so far they've adapted MM1,2 and 3,quite faithfully most of the time, while still adding new content, characters and filler arcs.Remember when Roll,Splashwoman and Tempo teamed up to save a beach, yeah that was my favorite part of Megaman 2 for the NES.

Or disregarding Megaman and sticking to Sonic, rememeber in Tails Adventures for the game gear when Bunnie acted as an uncercover agent for the BBA?Too bad they copied that in the comics,so predictable.

But that game is too obscure, let's talk about the ever so popular Sonic 2,like when you reached the final stage for the first time and dropped the Genesis controller, surprised that Sonic used the energy in the Death Egg's wires to go Super.

Let's not forget we could only beat the S1 final boss thanks to Antoine messing things up.

They're adaptions dude, not straight copies, the only predictable thing is the story's basic outline, and the fact that Sonic smacks Eggman in the end. There WILL be differences and twists, and what makes you think game adaptions are the only things from here on out?How is the upcoming Shadow Fall even an adaption rather than an expansion to an actual game, and how is it predictable when there are two new characters made up for that arc,for example?

I mentioned Genesis becuase it was recent and relevant, but that was just a little nostalgic homage made for the franchise's birthday,I'm pretty damn sure future adaptions will differ more (in a good way) from the source than Genesis did.

This is what the Sonic comic should have been all along, not some pretentious furry drama romance shit as it used to be,I'm thankful that that crap is finally gone.

Also, the designs of the mobians sucked hard. Animal heads on people bodies? No thanks.

That's being generous. They were more often gruesome, bulbous humanoid things with black noses than animals. Not to mention all of them were muscle men who towered over the SEGA cast. I seriously think Elson really wanted to be working somewhere like Marvel than be stuck with cartoon animals, especially given how stiffly he drawn and posed the SEGA characters.

It was bizarre looking at Porker and Johnny at the end of it, they were over twice Sonic's height and were ridiculously built. At least Archie usually limited this to the female characters (and even then Playboy Sal and Bunnie were usually still Sonic's eye level).

I do admit I don't get the whole 'STC is more like the games' theory. Maybe for the first forty or so issues, yes, but after that it drifted into even more oddball territory than Archie and Underground.

I already said this was because of the team coming from 2000AD. Look up what the characters in that are like and you'll see what I mean.

That's practically what I was saying earlier in one post, and still got ranted out for going against having the exact same story but with more detail. I don't think people are against that than the perception of having the same thing told without equally building on the elements in the comic. And wasn't that romance stuff toned down and then finally ended before the changes?

Still need to read Part 4, but so far I really enjoyed it. Marine and Bean have pretty much become some of my favorite characters from the comics!

Close as we will ever get to an adaption to SRA, I think Yardley pulled it off great. and we get to know what happened to the WilyEgg and its final fate.

Edit: Thanks for the correction.

I actually really liked this SU arc. It was so original and quite funny, which I liked a lot. Bean is funny and nutty, getting to see Amy be bugged by Marine, where she gets a taste of how it feels when she bugs Sonic all the time was just hillarious.

Loved it.

I think maybe the final part of the battle with Burning Blaze vs. Egg O' War/Captain Metal felt rushed, but it's somewhat fixed by the ending guaranteeing that this isn't the last we'll see of trouble in Blaze's world.

But the arc, overall, was a fun break from all bullshit from the last year or so. No red tape, no questionable ownership of characters, no eleventh hour changes because of legal bullshit. It was just very refreshing and very fun to read, and I sincerely hope Yardley gets more writing gigs for the series in the future.

Credit where credit is due; Yardley wrote that joint.

Also picked up #255 today. Nice continuation of the story, and I nice reintroduction of Bunnie. I don't really have much to say on the story. It's good, and I'm looking forward to the end as the world completely "defragments" from the old world.

I see there are now hints that Eggman's history is starting to be changed, much like Sonic's, which I didn't expect given that his origins are from another dimension... but hey, it's fine

. By the end of next year, no one is really going to care that these changes were made, and they certainly won't matter in-universe.

I didn't really like Jerry Gaylord's artwork though. It was fine in points, but it was a little too inconsistent for my tastes. Sonic and Bunnie in particular seem to change model and proportions from panel to panel, for example. And Eggman doesn't have a lot of variety of expressions compared to how other artists have drawn him. Gaylord is a good artist, based on what I've seen on his DA, so I don't think he was on his "A" game for this issue. It could've been a rush job, I don't know. I guess I'd like him to get another shot in the future (just to be fair), and the artwork is certainly better than the stuff from the book's "dark age" (Lim, Penders, "Many Hands," etc.), but I'd hope he works on his continuity/consistency for a future issue.

EDIT: Link to Gaylord's DA. I'm really not sure what happened between the great work on his DA and getting the gig on Sonic.

I also felt the final battle was a bit rushed there in the end. It was basically one of those scenario's where once Blaze turns super, she simply obliterates the bad guy. I'm sure you have seen this in other cartoons and comics before. You get the super form and then just kick ass in like an instant. It was still a good end, but just felt a bit rushed was all.

Also, CAN ANYONE EVER KILL A BAD GUY!? XD

Pretty much.

I think we got a nice taste of Burning Blaze's power and we got some nice conflicts set up for future stories. I don't mind that Blaze kicks ass the moment she gets her super form, that's the point of them. But we just didn't get to see Captain Metal/Egg O' War put up much of a fight (and it potentially could have if there was more space/time in the book, but there was only about 10 pages of story left). Since it's likely he'll return, and Blaze still has Whisker and Johnny (and possibly Nega, if SEGA ever gives the OK) to deal with, we know there are still more adventures in the Sol Dimension to come, so I'm looking forward to whatever comes next, whenever we get to revisit the Sol Dimension.

I do hope they eventually return to the Sol Dimension yes. Though one thing I would like to see, if they could ever do so, I would like to see more of where Blaze lives if ever possible. Does she live in a similar place like Knuckles where she guards the Sol Emeralds, or being a princess, does she live in a castle on an island city where she is charge, or does she have any kind of help, be it parents, or any other people in charge that help her, other than Marine. I know may never get this kind of stuff, but the back story of Blaze is a bit limited in a few places. I have my own personal head canon like everyone I'm sure does, but would be nice knowing what is and isn't real out there.

Ian has a tendency to make anti climax finales. In fact most of his best action climaxes are usually just drawn out Curbstomp Battles (Sonic and Eggman's respective decimation in 175 and 200). He seems to gets more tension out of a character getting completely put on the ropes physically and mentally.

Though granted concerning super forms, it's not really a rarity for ANY Sonic media really, eg. Satam's finale, anytime Super Sonic appeared in Sonic X. I guess they want them to live to the hype, though it would be nice if they made an opposition that at least challenged them. Why have we got so few super vs supers for that matter?

I'll still care, We had our whole comic history wiped off the planet without proper endings to the current arcs it was on. that still bothers me that they had to resort to New 52ing in order to feel like that was the way to bring the comic new life.

And Jerry certainly needs to step back until he has this comic's style and consistancy down. same goes for whoever did the Lost World comic too, we are trying to make people forget about the "dark age" era this just brings back reminders.

Edit: looking at Jerry's gallery for a bit I'll just say this, guys a great artist but he doesn't know how do to sonic, I believe the LW comic artist had the same problem.

Archie has really got to give guest and new artists a crash corse in how to draw like the veteran Sonic comic artists.

1. Actually I hadn't realized someone posted ahead of me correcting you (was still writing my thoughts on the current issues)... don't take it personally.

2. I'm not saying you shouldn't care, but the vast majority don't (if the recent conversation in this thread is anything to go by), and Archie essentially can't turn back now. Things were reset, for better or worse. I don't disagree with you, because I hate that all this had to happen too, but there's not much we can do about it. I'd rather have seen a proper ending to the Mecha Sally arc, I'd rather "Chaotix Quest" and "Endangered Species" came out in their original forms (though "Chaotix Quest" only lost Rob in the grand scheme, while "Endangered Species" lost... everyone), and I'd rather we didn't lose characters that were getting some development under a competent writer. They weren't even stealing the spotlight, but serving their intended purpose as a supporting cast (and let's remember a good deal of dead weight characters were either killed off or given an exit). It's a shame, but that's how it is.

But I'm saying most, be they new readers or people who hated everything about the old 'verse, aren't going to care that all that was lost post-crossover.

3. Well, you're echoing my opinion on Gaylord's artwork, but I think it'd be fair for him to get another chance (though I sincerely hope Wells is back for the closing issue of "Countdown to Chaos" or Yardley picked it up), he is a good artist, but his output for this issue is troubling. If he gets another chance on this book, he needs to step up his game.

You had it. it was called Sonic the Comic by fleetway

don't you dare lecturing me on sonic the comic boy

Some elements, like the zones, star posts, and badniks were exactly like the games, but other than that things like the characters and their backgrounds were completely different, such as Shadow the Hedgehog being a weapon created by the Drakkon Empire.

In fact, just go on a wiki walk and see how different it actually is from the games. I hear it did it's own thing after issue 100, but I don't know.

And you stop acting as if the Online continuation is the same exact thing

Now, now that's over. Read Sonic 255.

... whoever took those photos I posted was doing the comic a favour, the art is a serious disaster. What happened?

Better idea: how about you chill the hell out?

I didn't even know there were two different continuations, I just did a simple google search and pulled up the first thing I found, so how about you also stop the accusations? Not like you couldn't have corrected me without the attitude.

You have absolutely no leeway with staff anymore to even risk looking down on anyone with this level of hilarious pompousness, especially over some children's comic books about cartoon hedgehogs. Utter anything like this again to anyone and you're out of here for good.

@CSS:

I won't reply to most of your post at people's request, just gonna say that yeah, the romance was pretty much gone for a while now. What I was saying is that the comic as it is now (and been for a while) is how it should have been all along instead of the crazy stuff we got early on.

--------------------

Anyway,I've got the PPP comics, but strangely enough I never really felt like really reading them, despite liking Blaze quite a lot, strange.

Just read 255 though,it was okay,I like those Egg Uniforms and how they managed to portray Metropolis, and Bunnie's ponytail isn't as odd as I thought it would be,even with the bad art.He did draw Bunnie's face pretty cute though...occasionally.

I personally can't wait to get an issue fully drawn by Bates,he's my favorite of the comic artists, and I think he'll show the best of the FF's new designs.

The Fleetway comics and the online StC are not the same. The online one is completely fanbased, created by people who miss the comic with artistic contributions from the original artists only sometimes, the rest is done by amateurs rather than professionals.

I hope this helps. Shadow the Hedgehog was never in StC, but on the fan-based one. The official comics stopped right after their version of Sonic Adventure 1 before Fleetway kicked them and started posting past issues instead.

As for Archie issue 255, I gotta say...the art was hell of a jarring thing to look at. The characters looked flat, especially when they turned their heads and Sonic's spines kept shifting and twisting in strange ways. I'm sure they were just giving this artist a try, but it was a bit of a missfire.
