For those who are still on the fence about Sonic 4, I forsee many of them not giving it a chance at all now. At a lower price they might have taken a risk on the download in the hope that they might like it, but at full whack? I don't think so. That's too many points to waste in one go if you're not sure about something.
I, however, will still buy it. I am SEGA's bitch.
Also, that seems to be a review rather than a preview so... we should expect to see the game in the next month, I guess!

Basically what i'm trying to say, it wouldn't be a clever decision because a lot of potential buyers will be turned of after seeing it get.. like 5/6's?
Who knows though, this is just a prediction.
For myself however, I think it's a rip-off. Can get much better games with a lot more content that i'll enjoy a lot more for cheaper prices on xbla and wiiware.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero was only $5.
With the amount of content and features Sonic 4 has, it should be priced at $5 and nothing more. It's going to be one of the most expensive games on all the downloadable services. SEGA mentioned making this episodic and "inexpensive" to help reel in impulse buyers. Who the hell is going to impulse-buy a $15 game that isn't even in a positive light anymore?

It's still seen in a positive light outside of the rabid fanbase which has over analyzed the shit out of this game. People will buy the game even if it's $15 because it's a good looking, decent length, sidescrolling Sonic the Hedgehog nostalgia fest.$15 is a rip-off because you can buy a game like "Splosion Man" with 100 levels, multiplayer co-op, DLC, AND online play for only $10.
Dead Rising 2: Case Zero was only $5.

Besides, as mentioned above, this game is not bad, in fact it has been rather well received. People outside of the internet fanbase have been captivated.
Heck even a few within the fanbase have been captivated.
Yes $15 is a bit much, but it hasn't even been confirmed by SEGA yet (though it probably will be)
If SEGA release this game for £5 or (£2.70) it would be a bargain. Its actually as long as Sonic 3. It has 12 Acts, just a fewer number of zones.

Steve T. really seems to know what he's talking about too. He recognizes that Sonic games don't need to be about speed and speed alone. The physics changes must be very apparent, but obviously not enough to ruin the experience.

I also love all of the defending the price appears to be getting, particularly considering it wasn't that long ago that people were so sure that each episode would be $10, mostly because Sega surely wouldn't charge more for what we were getting than that.
Since $15 became the going rate for purpose-built full sized games on XBLA/PSN. Which was a couple of years ago, mind you, so it isn't some amazing new concept. And Sonic 4 is, by design, not a full-sized game.Since when is $15 considered expensive?

Being $15 may hurt it's sales a bit, but I'm willing to bet S4 becomes one of the best selling downloadable games regardless.

I'll concied to that one.Ripoff.
Spoiler
$10 is the best price.
$5 is a joke and underpriced. If there are 4 episodes it would end up a meagre $20, which is nothing for a game with a predicted 16 zones and 64 acts, plus bosses and extra zone etc.
$30-40 for the full game is more reasonable. Remember, SEGA is a business, and regardless of how bad you think it is, it still needs to make a profit.
My basic understanding is the following;
Sonic Colours is a risk, Sonic 4 is the safety net in case the risk fails.
Being Episodic (and knowing the fact that each episode will sell by the bucketload) will allow SEGA to cover the risk in any future big-budget experiment they undertake
In all fairness, its probably the smartest thing they've done from a business perspective.

Nintendo Power has already reviewed it? I'm pretty sure that confirms that the game will be releasing in the next 2-3 weeks.
Yeah, I'd say that's pretty safe, not to mention that due to being monthly and what-not, NP tends to be behind sometimes on these things. I was actually expecting the review after it was released.

This is the brilliant thing about overpricing this game. It's Sonic the Hedgehog. People are going to buy this game regardless of price because of the recognizable brand name. If this were any other game, people would be far more reluctant to give it a try. Who cares if people are pissed off, right? They probably won't even notice!
Hmmm not going to believe it until we hear the prices from the horses mouth next week on the SEGA Blogs, you guys can believe it all you want but I just don't think it going to be that high in price right now
You're on.
