I love the new map screen!

WOO, STRANGE PORTAL-THINGY

Now Sonic is thinking with portals!

That was the new stage! Casino Street act 2. Pretty good use of the cards if you ask me.

Spoiler'd in case you want to save the new acts for next week.

Both the gambling mini-game and the flying stack of cards. When Sonic runs on them they're like that laser tube thing from Death Egg! Cannons look fun too.

It's vastly disappointing how often enemy gaps for the homing attack are used and how Sonic doesn't build speed on his own when going down slopes.

That said, it looks better than I hoped. It's not Sonic 4, but it's still looks like a fun game.

The rest I'll keep my mouth shut on until I get a hold of it.

Wow, Casino Street Act 2 looks really cool! I love the whole "flipping cards" thing. Watching this made me even more excited for this game. Just one more week...

The level looks like fun. Still disappointed to see that the end of CSZ3 hasn't changed. Also the shields weren't green until adventure. Not that shield colour matters, but how did Ruby get that wrong? :P

EDIT: Mad Gear footage is awesome. I don't care if the level design is Dimpsy, it works as an adaptation of the classic style most of the time for some very nice results. What they need to do is learn to be build the levels without so much automated crap.

Haha. I've not Ruby or anyone try to justify uncurling yet. Surely they can't after that performance.

That's awesome. Love Casino Street Zone Act 2 and Mad Gear. Would anyone be able to YouTube the Sonic 4 section of the video?

EDIT:

Also, Blog 2.0 soon:

Blog 2.0 is pretty much ready to go; much of the biggest parts, like the heavy details of Casino Street Act II, have already been revealed now thanks to today's CNET video. I'm in New York currently promoting Sonic 4, so I don't have blog access, but I will see if we can make some magic happen!

Oh wow, that footage looks... awesome

Why must I be stuck at university with no access to my Wii when Sonic 4 comes out  As soon as I go home for a weekend, I shall be downloading this. Do want.

Pretty sure the portal above the map is the Special Stage, as they don't have all the Chaos Emeralds yet.

xfb512.jpg Hmmm I must say this may the only decent image we may get of the World Map (if only that video had a HD option it would of been better) until the Sonic 4 update part 2 which may be

today or in the next 2 days.

Casino Street Zone act 2 looks really fun maybe going to be my favourite level but that card running thing kinda bugs me, not in a bad way though just that it looks automated that all (gets bombed with replies that the whole game is automated speedboosters) Wednesday can't come sooner XD.

There is an HD option. Run your mouse over the video and click download, then you can download it in 720p.

Mad Gear looks fun! Lots of platforming. Me like!

The whole game seems to shape up really well. The first thing i heard about this game, from some dude on Sonic Retro, was that it actually had gameplay just like Sonic Advance 2....wich seems to have been a huge lie.

In fairness, this is different. Like the tubes in Mad Gear, its automation for visual effect. Its different from being pushed up every hill.

The CSZ3 part of the video gives us our first look at the aforementioned difficulty balancing from the first blog update. I cant screenshot it now, but in the leaks Sonic has to bounce off some bumpers after being blasted from a cannon in order to progress. It looked really tedious. Now those bumpers have been replaced by moving platforms.

Listening closely, it does indeed appear that Casino Street Act 2 is the level with the new music. Sounds kind of similar to the original, but a lot less repetitive.

WOAH! There's an Aaron Webber level on the right!

Pretty sure the portal above the map is the Special Stage, as they don't have all the Chaos Emeralds yet.

But why would you be able to enter it like that? If you can enter it any time, I'd think it would be after you collect all emeralds.

I remember the special stage being in the zone menu back during the leaks, so I think the portal in the sky is in fact the special stage. Perhaps once you complete a special stage, it becomes available for time trials on the map. I'm sure one still has to play an act to reach locked stages.

Exactly as the Doc said above. You can select any special stage if you've already completed it.

Ah, ok. That's cool, I guess. I thought it was there on the old Zone select screen, because it was a test version and they wanted testers to get there easily.

It looks awesome tbh

will be hopefully picking it up later on the iphone.. well whenever apple decides to release it.

He mentioned you could traverse the game without the use of homing attack. Well, watching mad gear that seems very difficult, maybe even impossible. Not that I care like to be honest lmao

I still wouldnt exactly class it as a sequel to Sonic 3/Sonicand Knuckles

Its lacking some of the best features from those games in my opinion

I would have liked to have seen the seemless transfer between acts and such

Far more of a Sonic 2 approach

with a homing attack...

but I think that will go down better with the critics, and people begging for nostalgia.

Much more people have played the much more inferior Sonic 1 and 2 (my opinion!) than Sonic 3/Sonic and Knuckles
