So if we're all done pun-ishing one another I've got a question. Can you do that thing on half pipes where you roll into a ball and Sonic will go higher and higher each time he rolls up the other side? I think you can test it in Casino Street 3.

Here in the US, it's not out yet, so technically, we're still on the hype train.

...

I only hope everyone keeps their arms and legs inside at all times.

I thought we were stopping that.

BUT IF I KEEP MY HANDS INSIDE, HOW WILL I LOOK OUT FOR DR. EGGMAN?!

Crap. Must resist the urges.

I don't know what's worse, the towers jokes, or that every post with them has over 5 rep XD

I'll be passing this version I'm afraid. iDevices are overpriced pieces of slag IMO. Looks to have no changes at all from the PNet build though.

Glad you asked, interestingly you can but it works differently, at least in this iPhone version. At the start of Casino Street 3 there is indeed a halfpipe which you have to use momentum to climb up, but holding down and spinning doesn't do the trick, you get to a certain height and he will uncurl and then curl into a ball again when he hits the slope and continue to spin, until he uncurls on the other side, it looks pretty cool, like skateboarding, but it doesn't get you through the level. However if you RUN in the half-pipe, you actually have to do the same thing, half-pipe style - run right until he stops, then run left, then right etc., and each time you'll get more momentum. Just holding down would probably be a bit more fun I dunno, but there's obviously momentum stuff going on here. The console version might be different since the iPhone game appears to be what we'd have gotten on all systems if it came out on it's original release date back in June/July.

The people asking about the two levels they've replaced on the console versions - the minecart is pretty fun, but the tilting isn't that responsive. You can change to 'swipe' controls for it (and the special stage) which is much quicker to respond but not as fun. I certainly think that the replacement level for the console version looks a lot better, but hey it's fun. The Casino Street level however, well it's just some tiny pinball machine you have to get a certain number of points in, and it's not much fun or exciting at all, really, especially considering the only real way to get points are the fruit machine and a little points collecting thing above it, and you just do those two over and over.

The only stage I'm not getting along with is Casino Street 3 "Casino Climax" because I keep getting lost and confused, lots of areas where you fall down and have to try it again too, though I get the feeling these parts will be easier to conquer with a gamepad.

I did notice that other changes for the console versions weren't there too, yeah, like it takes Sonic quite a while to get up to top speed and his 'blurry feet wheel thingy' animation doesn't occur as often as you see it in the footage of the console version, but actually considering the game is so fun (at least, to my tastes) without the improvements, the console version will probably be brilliant.

Also, the whole 'crouch on a wall' thing, and the stopping on slopes and stuff, I managed to get it to happen once, but it's really not a common occurrence at all, and this is in the pre-enhancements version so...

Nice to see most of the problems we thought were gonna be in the final version were ironed out, and that you can feel the rush just like the classics. Let's just say I'm excited to pick this game up, soon and spend some, if not many hours playing this game which apparently has tons of speed, as well as platforming.

It's been an excellent display of 1up-manship tonight.

Apparently this version doesn't even have any of the benefits the delay brought us. So that should say a lot about the final product we're getting next week.

Hm. Looks like I missed some bits of humor.

*Activates modified Proton Pack*

*Sucks potential humor out of Ferno and DJDaz*

There. That should do it. Now we can attempt to talk intelligently.

Now, how about those CONSOLES.

......

Crap.

*Sucks humor out of self*

No

The casino levels are the only point in the game where the difference in physics between the older games and this one stand out. Rolling up and down on slopes doesn't make sonic go any higher. However Sonic now has some amazing sneaker grip, because he can run up those walls like nobody's business now.

Though that doesn't stop the casino levels feeling like Casino Night Zone IMO, bar the fact I don't need to run up steam to get up walls on this occasion. I did however kind of dislike the points challenge. Mostly because it's a horribly small playing space even for a point scoring challenge, it really needed more high point earning opportunities and a bigger pinball section to work.

Apparently the music is the beta soundtrack too? Can someone confirm this as I cant tell myself

Having gotten a load of the music, I can say that it is 100% identical to the beta tracks. Didn't spot a single change in anything. Maybe it's on the consoles?

It's live in the US now

Is it $9.99 as we predicted? Just wondering for my news article.

So we're on the console joke huh, I can dig it.

Don't have a iPhone, I'll wait for the Wii version, ya know the version with the actual changes.

Are there any differences on the iPad? With a filesize as big as 88.7MB you'd wonder... Hazel got it on iPad but since we're only in contact through text at the moment, I can't get any impressions on what it's like on the iPad.
