So what is your explanation for Eggman being back and taking profit of the occasion to team up with his younger self and try to make his previous plans succeed ?

Or maybe that Modern Eggman isn't the real Eggman but a copy made by the Time Eater.

Or maybe that the manga follow a very different story than in the games and the games lack such a plot and are just "generic MotW sends everyone back in time, Sonic meet Sonic, Sonic and Sonic rape Time Eater, and now it's time for cake"..

That the Time Eater is Eggman is most likely.
After "5 Years" I would think he is gone forever and seeing him again I would be surprised as well (like Sonic).

Or maybe it's Eggman from the past. Of course looking like Classic Eggman. Small and chubby.

I didn't want to give an explanation why Eggman is back cause i'm sure there will be only one in the end. He just wants to get Sonic.

and probably the manga will follow a different story. The years will become a while. The machine will become a Monster that Eggman found due to some ancient manuscripts.

The monster will go out of control at some point double-crossing Eggman etc. but i thought it would be a nice twist for the past eggman to mess up with modern eggman and with the technology acquired from 20 years in the future he will be able to make his evil plans come to life.

After all all he did was being on his machine and fighting Sonic. This time around his machine has time traveling capabilities.

Future Sonic as a well intentioned extremist sounds like a pretty cool theory.

Realistically though, I'm expecting it to be an Eggman robot or a monster (though not completely mindless, if it's only targeting Sonic). Also I have some possible speculation on a "final level" before the final boss. It could be another amalgamation level of all the levels you've played in the game, but with washed out colours. So pretty much like Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow's Chaotic Realm. Possibly a single level played by both Sonics as well.



Kind of like the above, except less divided into Metroidvania rooms.
I really hope they DO something with this plot - Colours had moments of good writing, but had zilch plot for the most part and was filled with too many jokes, many of which weren't brilliant. If they focused a little more on plot and characterisation (and what perfect time than now, to explore the characters of Sonic and Eggman and their growths) I'm sure it would be grand. If it's just "Time Eater and Eggman fuck shit up, both Sonics stop them, the end", I would be a little disappointed.

The time eater could be one of the Sonics - ie. an imposter. One of the Sonics could be captured at the beginning of the game (but you wouldn't know), and that Sonic you're supposed to be playing as would be the time eater, which would reveal itself at the end of the game. The reasons for subduing one of the Sonics could vary, but the real version of that Sonic would come back for the final boss. Additionally, keeping one of the Sonics down could help the time eater ruin the hedgehog, by taking his place and fucking shit up for his own ends - think of Mad Eye Moody really being Barty Crouch Jr in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Even the Eggmen and the enemies would be fooled, hence they're trying to kill "Sonic". Sounds ridiculous, but you never know. The whole manga thing might simply either not make its way into the game, or the time eater Sonic (presuming it's modern) could make something or Eggman appear, hence he goes "It's..." to stay in character.

The Time Eater is Mario, he wants to erase Sonic from History because he won the Best Platformer of 2011 Award.

Joking apart I would like to see the Time Eater became Eggman, after the Classics he started to be always in the "shadow" of some MOTW until Unleashed where the Egg Dragoon appear, but we still had Dark Gaia. After that he got the spot of the main villain in Colours wich was very cool at least for me and like I said before he should be the so mysterious Time Eater instead of another MOTW.

I would like better if you fought time eater across an mix of all the levels in game, I actually didn't like very much what 06 did(but I don't know if I didn't like it because of how they implemented the idea).So...I kinda like the idea of a level being a mix of levels, but it has to be well done to appeal to me.

As I've said before, I'd like it best if it wasn't just levels in the game or even other levels from the series, but the scrapped levels we all know about (Hidden Palace Zone, Genocide City, etc)-- the joke being that they weren't scrapped they were erased by the Time Eater.

That would be better, but I don't see it happening. And I think its already a stretch having a level that is a mix of the levels in the game. I personally think we are gonna get a dark void, or in space or a white space, something more simple .

I prefer the other idea, where some of the levels have been erased, so you don't play them, and then play the "scrapped" levels at the end. Also, the think that ticked me off about Sonic 06's final level was that it was all one level, so if you screwed up on Shadow's part you'd have to start all over (or any part for that matter.) If they made it all one zone, but separate acts, then that would be good. Having a void or white space seems lazy, but it is Sonic Team we're talking about.

I think at the end Sonic should find himself in nothing but white, and he should run for a while, then plop down and think about how much crap he has to do on a daily basis.

I like the idea of the levels that didn't make the cut being in a last level "Shit's goin' down" kind of thing, where the worlds are sewn together because whatever linked them previously has been destroyed by the Time Eater. Like, jumping off of a Star Light Zone grind rail and finding yourself in Sweet Mountain. And the sky should be all purple and scary.

Classic EGGMAN doesnt know about his future. So how could he make this plan? I bet its EGGMAN with either some powerfull machine (first mainstream Super Sonic vs. EGGMAN creation fight since Sonic and Knuckles) or Created/Unleashed somw beast using his grandfather diary (again).
