New Smash Bros?

Me and Dreadknux still play Melee rather than Brawl because the engine was better honed, faster and more frantic. Switching over to Brawl just felt like playing Melee at half-speed - forcing us to half the life-set to 5 from 10 so the matches would last the same quick-fire timeframe. Inevitably, rather than try and bend Brawl to a decent speed, we switched back to the more refined and polished Melee for our fun. Shame because there were a few characters (Like Sonic) which we would have played more if only the game engine was any good.
As for new characters? Waluigi is a must.
For possible third party characters? Earthworm Jim is essential (Though Nintendo rarely look outside of Japanese-oriented characters), Megaman would be awesome, Ryu from Street Fighter, Lara Croft, Cloud from FF7, Bub and Bob (Bubble Bobble), Toejam and Earl would be freaking AWESOME!
Regardless, so long as the arenas are more exciting than the bland Brawl ones, and the engine is as fast and smooth as Melee then I'll be happy. The number of characters is so high that adding many many more wouldn't really add a huge amount to the gameplay.
PS. Who the hell is Groose?

That said, I'd like to see Waluigi, Bowser Jr, Isaac (Golden Sun), Garet (Golden Sun), Geno, Knuckle Joe (Kirby), Knuckles, and Megaman join the fray.

Even Final Fantasy had its beginnings on the NES, with half the main series being on Nintendo consoles (which makes Sony fanboys whining about FF13 being on the 360 as well hilarious. Many FF fans also considered FFVII, the first Playstation title, the point where the series started going downhill). Cloud isn't exactly applicable, but someone like, say, Cecil or Terra is.
Actually, fuck Final Fantasy. I want someone from Chrono Trigger on the roster. Best Square RPG ever.

Well, if you want to stretch the definition of "Nintendo's history in gaming", there's more than a few third-party characters who are heavily associated with Nintendo's hardware, including Mega Man, Simon Belmont, etc. Snake started off with Metal Gear, which had an NES version (and a rather, ahem, unique sequel), and Sonic, while he hadn't had a game on a Nintendo console till the Gamecube, is still a vital part of Nintendo's history as he was Mario's rival.

Not to sound rude, but I know all that. Still, it'd feel wrong to me to have like, 10 3rd party characters in SSB4 when more deserving Nintendo characters could've taken some of those spots. I think there SHOULD be some of those popular characters/series' that got their start or have important roles in Nintendo's history, but not TOO many of them.

Why do you guys want so many 3rd party characters? Flooding the game with more than a few of non-Nintendo characters would defeat the purpose of Smash Bros, which is to celebrate Nintendo's history in gaming. Yes, it'd be cool to see people like Cloud, but really, I'd rather see more Nintendo characters get into SSB4. Not to mention that these characters have to have been on a Nintendo system at some point to be in the game.
That said, I'd like to see Waluigi, Bowser Jr, Isaac (Golden Sun), Garet (Golden Sun), Geno, Knuckle Joe (Kirby), Knuckles, and Megaman join the fray.
Because Nintendo characters are boring *trollface*
but in all seriousness, think of it this way: If other companies made a game like Smash bros using characters from their franchsies, people would cry "ripoff". It's better, and easier just to put them in smash bros directly.

I'd personally prefer that they just make their own Smash Bros, I don't care who calls it a ripoff so long as it's not a blatant copy. As I said, a few 3rd Party characters are cool, but swarming the game with like, 10 of them would be contradictory to the game being a Nintendo cross-over.

If Midna arrives in a Zelda game in between now and when Smash 4 comes out, maybe. But at this point, Ghirahim -> Groose -> Demise are better candidates for another Zelda spot, in order of likelihood.

It would be cool if Midna(Zelda Twilight Princess)was playable in the next Smash Bros game.
It would be, but the Smash Bros series have the tendency to go after the most recent and well-known Zeldas when it comes to characters and environments.
In 64 and Melee, it was OoT/MM.
In Brawl, they've used Twilight Princess and Wind Waker (and by extension, Phantom Hourglass, though it came pretty close to SSBB's release).
For the next one, they've already got Skyward Sword and Spirit Tracks under their belts, so I doubt we'll see a playable Midna in Brawl. Maybe as an Assist Trophy?

So long as the engine is better than the one in Brawl. It just wasn't good enough.

Honestly, I prefer the Brawl engine myself. Melee always felt a little clunky to me, and a bit too lose.

I rather it BE a blatant copy. If Sega or any other developer I liked made their own CLONE (excluding movesets and etc.) it'd be great. Every game I played that was "similar" to Smash Brothers were horrible, especially that CN fighting game (SO BAD!!)I'd personally prefer that they just make their own Smash Bros, I don't care who calls it a ripoff so long as it's not a blatant copy. As I said, a few 3rd Party characters are cool, but swarming the game with like, 10 of them would be contradictory to the game being a Nintendo cross-over.

As for my personal choices? Well, I might be a tad naive for thinking so, but I really, really want to see an Eternal Darkness rep this time around, because a Trapper Dimension stage or a Gladius-wielding Alex Roivas with a magickal gimmick are pretty awesome concepts to think about - a stage with occasional hallucinations or Alex being able to summon a lovecraftian horror as a final smash sounds like absolute sex. Besides that, the only other things I really wanted out of a sequel was the return of Mewtwo and a completely original moveset for Ganondorf, which can't be terribly hard to pull off, all things considered... although I'm sure it won't kill them to add a Metroid stage that isn't another bloody "hazardous liquid rises and falls at arbitary intervals" gimmick... come to think of it, didn't I post a Dark Aether idea somewhere earlier back in this thread?

I doubt that many would ever happen at once.

But anyways..I think that keeping Sonic around there would be awesome because he's basically had a long running history competing against Mario, so it really only seems fitting. Snake was the one who kind of came out of nowhere, if you ask me. The Metal Gear games started off on the NES, yeah, but..eh, I don't know. He wasn't bad or anything, I just think other characters would have been better to fit the spot like Mega Man. That would be really freakin' cool.

Mario Series:
-Bowser Jr.
-Waluigi
(I know the mario series have way too much characters, but this would seal the deal.)
Zelda Series:
-Ghirahim (Hes just asking to be in)
I might also like a SS updated Link with maybe 1 changed attack. (skyward strike for example, plus SS outfit)
Pokemon Series:
-Zoroark (not replacing Lucario/MewTwo)
-Gold (with Totodile, Bayleef and Typhlosion, HECK YEAH!!! ...not happening tho ;_
DK Series:
-K. Rool
-Dixie Kong
3rd Party:
-Sonic
-Megaman (lets hope Capcom doesnt troll us and give us fugly boxart Megaman, like what they did recently)
And some more.
EDIT: As for the physics I actually prefer Brawls, might be a bit slow sometimes but Melee was WAY too fast, maybe Brawl physics a tad faster and a tad less floaty.
