It more or less speaks for itself... But I was wondering, after you subscribe to their mailing list, does anything actualy happen? Is there a website here or is it just purely a mailing list?

So yeah, looks to be an official store for Sonic merch, I wonder if it's a SEGA Direct 2.0 type place. I've already signed up

I doubt the site is related to the 20th anniversary statues, I think it's part of a larger push by SEGA into merch kind of like Club Nintendo, who knows they could end the days of having to run the customs gauntlet of importing CD's from Japan.

I thought the 20th Anniversary Statues weren't meant to be sold?

If that's the case, then the US needs a merchandise site too or any SEGA game in any region can count towards points

The more SEGA games we buy, the more points we earn. Points needed for statue - 1,000?
If thats what it's going to be like... Would I buy multiple copies of a said game just to boost my points if it meant statue?
Possibly... ... ... before you think I'm mad... depending on the points I get, it might actually end up working out to costing me the same had the statue been for sale.

¿Is this just for the UK or for all Europe?
I signed up and I'm in the US, but it'll probably be all of Europe.. have to wait and see

Well, all I see is 'Official UK website...', the WHOIS shows the site was registered in the UK, and there is no evidence of alternate versions for the US etc.¿Is this just for the UK or for all Europe?

They aren't and won't be. I don't think this site has anything to do with the statue, but I'm game for anything involving Sonic merchandise! And the hype that statue has is remarkable. I don't think I've ever seen so much obsession over obtaining a single merch item before. It seems like the whole internet wants one!

As for the statues I hope we can get those too.. but not by points. Maybe random raffles or contest, not everybody can/will buy sega games. I'm all up for Sonic but I've got other interests and priorities too.

With that in mind I decided to try and see what the building looked like that they're based in. If you were quick enough to subscribe to them, you can still visit the subscription pages where there happens to be an address for the company.
Sonic Merchandise
161a Moulsham Street
Chelmsford,
Essex
CM2 OLD
So I decided to street view the postcode and... well... Go take a look.
Now once you get over the fact that the postman standing opposite the building looks a lot like Eggman, does that street and any of the buildings there strike you as the sort that would be responsible for mailing out merch on a national level?
It's pretty much a side street in every sense of the word, full of hair dressers it doesn't really strike me as a great location for what they would do (mind you there is a KFC down there...)
Consider for a moment that the street view photos don't show the building as it probably looks today, but either way, it doesn't really strike me as the kind of place for this type of establishment.
Do we know for sure if this place is genuine?
