WHY HELLO THAR.
Hello there. I'm Drifting Fable, you can call me Fable for short or even Fable-kun if that floats your boat. Sorry I took so long to say anything. Now I can formally introduce myself. Beware, like the name says, I write a lot. So get yourself comfy and listen to me telling you about me. Its all to help you understand me and so that we can better help each other.
Like the info box says, I'm 18 year old male college student. I live in Lousiana and I hate seafood, quite strange no? I find myself be a pretty easy going and calm. Very patient with just about everything beside when electronics don't work. I'm also a daydreamer. My mind is a home theater of awesome to the point where I lose track of how much time has past. My sister sometimes spend minutes shaking me from my daze. As a gamer, Story and Gameplay are the two most important themes in any videogame. If either one is considerably blow average is a kusoge(A friend of mine told me it was japanese for "crap game". Call me an otaku if you like, but I personally like the way it rolls of the tongue) to me. I do know a little bit of French but I truly wish to learn Japanese. I like the imaginative freedom they show in their work and would like to play/view/read them in their original form. Plus there are bound to be many great works that will never get their translations or ports here and I find those potentially beneficial to me as both a game designer and a writer.
It is my dream to become a game designer and start a game developer company. I currently plan to enter the industry as a programmer and work my way up from there. It's a big dream, but there are games that I want to make and this seems like the best course of action. Most of what I've done currently is only in writing but I have developed two projects that I haven't released. I developed a simple game of Pong into a star wars battle with health bars and force powers and a 2D rail-FPS Tower defense game. They were fun at the time but I don't think I'll be doing anymore work on them. While most of the game I do want to make are up the RPG ally, what I'm really looking to do is marry various genres and create new ones. I believe the soon we will expand these individual genres (like the shooter genre) to their limits (theres only so much you can do to a shooter game alone). To keep the gameplay fresh and interesting I believe these games need to take a look at other genres and look at ways to re-introduce them in their own way. For example, look at the RTS genre and the shooter genre. They have a lot in common, you're just simply playing through the war from a different perspective. If these two games genres came together I think that it could bring a whole new meaning to team players. I've seen it attempted a few times (like the game Savage) but not in the manner in which I would like to achieve.
So when I'm not working on a game, playing a game, or dealing with life's shits; I'm a roleplayer. I was always such an imaginative person when I was a kid so I've naturally felt right at home with this type of story telling. While I'm not familiar with the dice rolls of D&D days, I roleplay in fourm based rps where we take turns moving the narrative forward through the roles of our characters. It's the only other hobby of mine the rivals videogames because there's so much freedom and creativity put into them (well if you find the right one). I'm also an avid anime/manga watcher/reader.
Alright I think I've kept you long enough. The strange part is that I'm very quiet IRL. I look forward to getting acquainted with all of you.
