About Me

"I am an animator. I feel like I'm the manager of a animation cinema factory. I am not an executive. I'm rather like a foreman, like the boss of a team of craftsmen. That is the spirit of how I work." -Hayao Miyizaki

Amazing and beautiful individuals on this place known as SSMB.
You may be wondering who I am, and what I'm doing on this place. I may as well put something here, right? Greetings! If it isn't obvious, my name is Felix. I go by other aliases including "Feelicks", "Feetlicks", or "Fetus". I've been a long time fan of the Sonic franchise, being introduced to it by getting Sonic Heroes for the PlayStation 2 in 2004 as a late birthday gift, and I've been a fan ever since, despite having been more disinterested in the franchise in recent days. I have many interests, including video games in general, films, any form of animation, anime and manga, cartoons, artwork, novels, and world history. I've been a filmgoer as long as time can be, and I love to critique and watch movies, whether they range from complete masterpieces to rotten turds. I love learning about our world each day, be it world history, events, new advancements in science and technology, and (seldom) politics. I love typing and writing, especially when talking about my interests, making film or video game critiques, expressing my thoughts on a certain manner.
My goal in life is to be a filmmaker and animator. As I said before, I love films and the people who make them. They take us to a worlds where imagination is free, where anyone can craft their own world with their own characters and stories. Be it science fiction, comedy, romance, or epic. As a wise man named Stanley Kubrick (my all-time favorite filmmaker) said: "The screen is a magic medium. It has such power that it can retain interest as it conveys emotions and moods that no other art form can hope to tackle.” Speaking of filmmakers, I have many favorites, my top ones being the likes of Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Andrew Stanton, Christopher Nolan, Brad Bird, George Lucas (pre-1999), Mel Brooks, Joe Johnston, Sam Raimi, J.J. Abrams, and Robert Zemeckis. Along with films, I absolutely adore animation. It's certainly fascinating how artists can bring a drawings to life, and as I said with films, craft any type of world with them. Anything by Pixar, Studio Ghibli, Disney, DreamWorks, and animators like Don Hertzfeldt, Craig McCracken, Genndy Tartakovsky, and Don Bluth (well, before he started to suck) are some prime examples of mine. Be it anime, traditional animation, computer-generated, stop-motion, whatever. Still love it, still learn from it. When it comes to anime, I usually like to watch stuff from Kyoto, Gainax, Shaft, Madhouse, and once again, Studio Ghibli.
Video games have been pastime of mine for a long time, with most of my interest going towards Nintendo & Sony games. My favorite gaming genres include 2D and 3D platformers, puzzle games, indie games, third-person shooters, and racing games. I love to read novels and reference books (mostly dealing with history/making of books), with some of my favorite authors including C.S. Lewis and J.W. Rinzler. I love listening to music, mostly when studying or reading a book. Classical and orchestra music tend to tickle my fancy, but I love other genres such as jazz, rock, French house, and country.
I have a wide range of artists and composers' music I love to listen to, with Daft Punk, One Republic, Alan Silvestri, Randy Newman, Thomas Newman, M83, Alan Menken, Hans Zimmer, Joe Hisaishi, John Powell, James Horner, Adele, and Michael Giacchino as some that I can think of from the top of my head. However, if I had to choose my absoute favorite musicians, they'd be Joe Hisaishi and John Williams. In terms of other interests I have, I'm an avid fan of the Star Wars franchise, and I have unsatiable love for PIXAR & Disney films, Back To The Future, Indiana Jones, Marvel & DC, James Bond, Jurassic Park, Ratchet & Clank, and other things I can't get off the top of my head.
When I first joined this community, I was nowhere what you'd call a good member. Coming from the SEGA Forums, a usually very laidback and poorly moderated place, I thought this place going to be the same laidback slack I was used to at Sega Forums before getting banned from there. I mindlessly fed trolls, spammed the status updates (could be argued I still do, but yeah.), made mostly spammy or offensive topics that got locked, deleted, or miserably failed, and was an annoying 12 year old that thought rehashed memes like Rage Comics or Troll Face were funny. As the months progressed, I started to get more of a sense of what SSMB was like. A much more mature place for civil discussion about the problems, flaws, decisions, design, and positive aspects in the Sonic series. People helped me along the way, and here I am, now an SSMB junkie that goes here nearly 24/7, with his love for the place never diminishing. As I stay on here longer and grow older as a teenager and member, I hope to mature and be a better person and friend, both online and off.
I hope to see you around here, and thank you for taking the time to read my about me.
~Your friendly neighborhood, Felix
