  5. IIRC, games made in the good old RenderWare engine (which were the majority of PS2 era games, including Heroes) can't actually be "just ported" to modern systems, they would have to build it, for the most part, from scratch in another engine. Could be Unreal, but not necessarily, remember Colors Ultimate was actually rebuilt using Godot, not UE. Unleashed and Generations for instance uses the Havok engine and Sonic Team's own Hedgehog engine, which makes things easier. Hell, Superstars was made with Unity! So basically just "adding widescreen and sharper visuals" are already a lot of work on itself. Simply importing those PS2 era games to UE have veeeery mixed results, which is why when these games get a re-release, they're usually made from scratch, like Crash, Spyro, THPS, MediEvil, Shadow of the Colossus, Pac-man World...
  6. Weekly check-in time, I suppose; going through some things right now, and when I am gaming, I'm finding myself getting worn out on Mega Man; I think I should take a small break from the Blue Bomber and clear some games before getting to Mega Man 10. They're still good games, of course. Of course, I plan to take an even longer break after I beat Mega Man 11. I also decided to put in a category I call "honorable mentions," where I put in games that don't truly count for the challenge, but I still feel like I wanna talk about them. However, they will only be mentioned in the weekly check-ins. Before I do that, the obligatory "Games I've beaten so far" category. 45. Liquid Kids (100%, I guess, for beating the game at all) Words fail me on this one's story, but I will try; a hippopotamus named Hipopo (who looks more like a dog or a platypus to me) who must save his girlfriend Tamasun from the evil Fire Demon, while saving other hippos along the way. Armed with balls of water, he will stop at nothing to save Tamasun and save the day. The game itself? Simple stuff, you throw these water balls at enemies, and that apparently stuns them and allows you to walk into them to beat them. This game, being an arcade game, is tough, and you will die a lot. Good luck figuring out how to finish off the final boss without a guide. I would mostly play this one during breaks at work, only really taking it seriously for the final fight, but it's good to spend a few minutes with if you got save states. 46. Mega Man 9 (I assume 100%, since I got the energy balancer and other items, but I'll let staff decide that one) It's been a while since Wily last wreaked havoc on the land. But then, Dr. Light gets accused of having sent robots to cause chaos, complete with video evidence. Apparently, people in this world believe two trips to the jailhouse is enough to reform Wily, because they believe he's here to save the day. It's up to Mega Man to get to the bottom of this and clear Dr. Light's name! This game goes back to the NES style of doing Mega Man...early NES, that is, since even the charge shot and slide are gone. I will admit, I myself am divided on whether or not they should've done this, but if nothing else, I still enjoyed this throwback to the NES games. Because I didn't wanna fight with a Wii/360/PS3 emulator at the moment, I simply played this on my Switch via Legacy Collection 2. I will admit, I did miss the save states at points, though what Legacy Collection 2 offers for checkpoint saves proved to be a good compromise; letting me save my bolts, health and energy, but still requiring me to get gud. I say check this one out. I recommend Legacy Collection 2 for the modern age. And now for the honorable mentions category; this game isn't gonna be counted on the tally here, at least not this version of it, but I wanted to talk about it. Honorable Mention: Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade) The sequel to the original Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man also chomps ghosts, but then she meets her eventual husband, have a chase, and then eventually have a baby named Junior. That's basically the plot of the game in a nutshell. The gameplay sees you going around a maze, eating dots, and getting power pellets to eat ghosts, like in the original. The change is that some fruits seem to move, and I've been told the ghosts have a different pattern, though to be honest, I never paid attention to that detail. This photo marks the last cutscene of the arcade version before it just becomes harder and harder. Some versions have trophies, while some others have a more defined ending screen, but since I didn't play those versions for the challenge, I'm not counting it right now. Still, it's a classic, one that's getting less and less preserved thanks to legal issues I'd rather not get into; they already removed the phone version, and time will tell if other versions follow, so I recommend you play this one while you can.

Sonic Movie 3 Production Wrap-up photo teases Shadow the Hedgehog

Honestly don't think we'll see a trailer until at least August, following the pattern with Sonic Movie 2. But nonetheless, this is exciting news!

Let him try it and get buried by Paramount.
  11. Well, I try Still, I’m thankful for the opportunity to help with the spinoffs as well as just being here in general, so thanks for that! You all should be proud of how far you’ve come!
  12. https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/sonic-the-hedgehog-3-wrap-photo-tease-shadow-the-hedgehog/ Recently, Jeff Fowler, the director of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise as well as the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie, has posted an image saying that production has wrapped up. With that, it is probable that a trailer might be released soon for the movie now that production has wrapped up, but then again, it might take a while until a trailer to be released. More curiously, it seems there is an image on the clipboard on the image of the wrap-up of production as posted by Jeff Fowler, and it shows Shadow on it. This might be a big tease for the Ultimate Life Form in the new Sonic movie. That said, this picture of Shadow does look like the Shadow in the Sonic the Hedgehog games, so whether the Shadow from the third Sonic movie is nearly identical to the games version of Shadow or if there is a different Shadow in the movie may remain to be seen. This may be it, though to me, judging by Sonic's image on the right side, which apparently has blue arms like in the movies. For reference, the filming, at least with the animated characters, started in July 2023, and the filming for real-life actors began in the same year, if in November. The filming of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ended in March 2024, and finally, production has wrapped up for the movie in near the end of the same month. Even then, there is still work that has to be done. The film itself is set to release on December 20th, 2024 around Christmas time, and while the rating is not yet determined, it is suggested that it might be PG-13 in The USA. Also on the clipboard are Knuckles the Echidna and Miles "Tails" Prowler the Fox, though other characters that may or may not be int he film, such as Amy Rose the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat, who were in Sonic Adventure 2 that the third Sonic movie is based on, have not really shown up yet, so it is still unknown if they will make an appearance in the third Sonic movie or not. It is hinted, though, that Hayden Christensen of Star Wars fame may be the voice of Shadow himself. Either way, Shadow looks like he could look very nice in the film, and he does look quite different from how he looked at the mid-credits scene in the previous movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Either way, as said before, it might or might not be too long now before we get to see the Ultimate Life Form in action in the third Sonic movie in CGI form. News is from Comicbook.com.

  14. Small part? Don't be so humble, you helped manage two whole spinoffs!
  15. Really cool reading up on past seasons and things I’d missed, it’s incredible seeing how far you guys have come! I’m really honored to be a small part of this and thankful that I was invited to join the rps. I love the community and the stories and characters we’ve all gotten to share together!

That's if a "certain somebody" doesn't try to claim whatever characters pop up in the fourth Sonic movie.
  17. "The Robotnik balding gene must hit hard and young." Oh, that's been implied for a long time. Just look at Snively.

That’s fine. We don’t need a comic series to use them. Let’s have them in Sonic 4 the movie.
  19. Dude, I can't wait to see more characters in Sonic Toys Party (such as Super Sonic, Classic Sonic, Zazz, Wave, Storm, Sticks, Werehog, Chaos, Eggman Nega, etc)
  20. To fully clarify, what is officially considered the requirements for the challenge is what’s in the game’s trophy/achievement list, which is significantly easier. https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/19267-sonic-frontiers
  21. Passed on the modern ones but may bitw with these. They look great!
  22. oo the different arms and poses seems very cool, hope we get more like these in the future!
  23. Sad times for all concerned. Its a tough time for many latley it seems. Sad.
  24. Depressing, especially considering all of the other layoffs happening in the industry lately.
  25. A lack of negative evidence is not support for positive evidence. It hasn't been disproven that SEGA's remastering Tails Sky Patrol into a deck building roguelike releasing in 2026, but that doesn't meaningfully support the idea that they are.
