You are correct. I mentioned in a previous post about the roller coaster (not completed at the time) that from an interview (alright, just a chat) with Dr. Mechano that he did just finish some voice acting work for the ride. In fact....to mention that previous post, apparently there has been some updates in the topic link in forms of more images and videos posted on that as well. Check them out! Also, I would KILL to have that Robotnik jacket that man is wearing. KILL. Ulp. And the pictures keep on coming! Check out this person's blog about her trip to the Republic and some more photos as well! And even more. A description of the coaster and the plot here. Apparently here's the page of the company that built the SPINGEAR coaster. (Yes. I wouldn't mind riding Robotnik. Err, I mean riding Robotnik's machine. Freudian slip. );P

    Sonic the Hedgehog 4

I kinda wish people would quit whining about Knuckles not being there to protect the Master Emerald the whole time. Even in his debut game he wasn't actually sitting there waiting for Sonic to come and steal the Master Emerald when he was getting fooled by Eggman. He went away from the altar, found Sonic, and then proceeded to impede Sonic's process throughout each and every level up until he finally found out what's what. In Sonic '06, Eggman apparently gave Knuckles a message to deliver to Sonic and afterward sticked around to help the blue blur out. Same thing happened in Sonic Heroes except Tails was there. Now tell me, would you rather Knuckles' reason to be in the games something like 'I'm here to help Sonic out and beat up on Eggman' or 'OH DEAR LORD THE MASTER EMERALD BROKE AGAIN'? I certainly hope you wouldn't choose the latter. I'm honestly confused as to how you guys feel about Knuckles. I saw a lot of people happy that he was put in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing as a playable character but then I see people saying he shouldn't be in a game like this because he should be 'PROTECTING THE MASTER EMERALD AT ALL TIMES'. Do you want him around or no?

Just in regards to this, I feel the need to quickly drop a tidbit or two on this. You have to bear in mind that thus far, the only characters in the series that CAN use Chaos Control are either: a: hedgehogs (all three main chars of Sonic '06) b: capable of Super forms (same as above) c: artificial (Shadow, Biolizard, Metal Sonic/Madness) So while it ain't exactly unique to Shads anymore, there's something of a specific criteria about it that limits it to specific beings, otherwise the usage between the roster would easily be much larger by now. Even bearing that in mind, Shadow is the only one who is capable of performing it without external aids (namely Chaos Emeralds), and I'd say that's enough for him to keep it his special thing. Not to mention he still has an array of other Chaos-based moves that nobody else seems capable of yet.

This is good. A game with the 2D - 3D transitions from Sonic Unleashed, with added pinball mechanics so it can combine both the best of the classics with the best of Sonic Adventure and what 3D has to offer. The tone should be light and fun as well. Eggman should be the final boss and Tails should follow Sonic around. Knuckles and Amy can get cameos. Anything else isn't needed. I'd like a Sonic 1 adaption from the VE studios as well. Just Sonic, Eggman (in their classic designs), zones and a bunch of badniks making appearances.

    Official Anime/Manga Thread

Anime isn't like western cartoons which are mainly aimed at kids (there are some exceptions obviously) so even if you grow out of one genre, there's another out there you'll probably like. I still love anime, but this season is boring. I'm just reading .Hack//twilight atm and concentrating on my own writing and working. Hopefully next season will be better.

    "Unspecified Sonic game" for PSN

They can just download it from Sonic Retro if they lost it. It wouldn't be the first time Sega has done something like that, the PlaySega website thing has the Megadrive version of Virtua Fighter 2 on it (I think it's hidden or something), and it's ROM is in SMD format, which was not created by Sega.
  10. 1 point
Considering Sonic 1 on the GBA had to be completely rebuilt from the ground up because they lost the source code for that, it really wouldn't surprise me if they somehow misplaced the rest of their genny work in the process. And frankly, the fact that every other genny port out there is a work of emulation (which only requires the rom, and not the source code) isn't exactly a good sign either. I could be wrong, of course.

Sonic the real Ultimate Life Form?

Going head to head with the one person who can match and even exceed your abilities, then having your entire worldview turned upside down so now you're both on the same side is hardly "nothing". I don't necessarily disagree that Sonic is more than a normal hedgehog; obviously he's got the super speed and can use the emeralds, and I'm a strong supporter of the "HPZ mural inspired Gerald" theory, but I don't believe that Shadow had any particular insight. Plus, the FinalHazard line is just one half of a pair of quotes; if you're in the same situation that causes that quote, but playing as Shadow instead, Sonic compliments him: I think they're both just meant to show the mutual respect they had for each other's strength, not to hint at any deep mystery.
  12. 1 point
Developer laziness is questionable. That was the origin of S. Sonics ability to diffuse chaos onto his buddies. (it evolved onto a much more visibly appealing technique in 06). Also, people are pinballing that short list of Chaos Control users. I have to think that it would be a knock on the U. Life Form. Shadow gets demeaned that much more every time someone else whips it out. - Sonic - Shadow - Silver - Metal Sonic - Biolizard - Black Doom (I believe it was said that it was Dooms Blood that enabled Shadow) - Blaze (possibly - no one knows exactly what she did, but C. Control is a good bet) - Solaris (Technically it could distort space-time + End of the World) Its sickening. Chaos Control was designed to be an overpowering ability. For the simple fact that everyone can use it, and that Shadow still spouts about his Ultimate status, I have to think Chaos Powers have little to do with the title. (either that, or proficiency > ability). As far as I am concerned, the Ultimate Lifeform is a just a name granted to Shadow meaning that no other lifeform can stand before him.

This disturbs me. First off, I'll start by saying not all people (want to)curse. Nowadays, it seems to be a normal part of society. But I believe conforming to society can be a very dark and sad. My brother says the F word when he's mad, and that was AFTER he started getting on the internet. I believe he really isn't trying to change his language in his heart because the people around him desensitize him. I guess this is just my own thinking here, but Sonic obvious has a very big sense of... I dunno... what's the word here... um... justice? Wait no, morality? I dunno, perhaps I'm saying a bit too strong a word for this franchise, but what word CAN you use to define the ability to be past regular human flaws? Not saying Sonic is PERFECT, but he's better than most. The fact that he stood up to save his home when no one else did kinda shows his relationship with society, doesn't it? One person on this board said he/she wanted to see Sonic try to kill. Well, as I pointed out, Sonic stopped Blaze from killing Eggmen. Obviously Sonic has some capacity to practice morality. And that's what makes a hero. I think he realizes this, for the most part. Shadow the hedgehog and other new Sonic games are a result of Sonic Team conforming to shard of society: us, the fans. Look at what happens. Shadow was just a pathetic way to appease the fans wanting darkness. How many people here consider it a part of there personal canon again? We as the fandom have touched story tone time and time again and it always gets back to the knowledge of what these immaturely mature games have done to the franchise. Back in the day I played Shadow, I found Sonic swearing so pathetically out of character for him. I mean, he wasn't even in an attitude to say a word like that. The fact that you want to see anger flaws that society has, applied to an iconic character tells me Sonic does have an upholding of... something. And that people want to pass off their flaws to those who have few. Hey, I've been there, but isn't it more rewarding to rise above things like cursing then to actually curse? I'm probably only one of the few people here who think this way, but for criyin' out loud! (and I didn't curse, even though I could have, which is more effective? Hm?)Someone has gotta stand up from the crowd every once in a while. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings in the process.

Plus He has apparently a Limitless supply of Chocolate at His Disposal, which makes him the Greatest Sonic Character of all Time in my Book.

Sonic the real Ultimate Life Form?

I have one possible answer. Some speculate that when Gerald was studying the ruins of the Echidna civilization he came across either the mural depicting the fight of Super Sonic and Perfect Chaos or the fight between Super Sonic and Eggman in the Doomsday Zone. And that after witnessing either image he decided to design Shadow in the same form as Super Sonic. If the above is true then it might be that Gerald had shown Shadow the creature[super Sonic] his design is based off of before GUN raided the Ark. And thus it is during the battle between Super Sonic and the Bio-lizard, Shadow recognizes Super Sonic as the creature his own build is based off of and decides to tell Sonic the truth about who is the true Ultimate Life Form. After that battle Shadow loses his memory and thus begins referring to himself as the Ultimate Life Form once again. As for who that ultimate Life Form truly is, I believe it is Super Sonic (not the regular Sonic).

Sonic the real Ultimate Life Form?

It's really not possible to answer without deciding what definition of "ULF" we're using. There's several valid options, none of which trump all the others. Probably the most accurate definition would be an immortal life form. Project Shadow was all about immortality; Gerald's goal of curing Maria, the Biolizard's regenerative abilities, and Shadow still being alive 200 years from now. By this definition Shadow is the current champion, as while he may not be invincible, he doesn't seem to age, and he's got the power to shrug off almost anything that could cut his life short. But while this is a good technical definition, it doesn't seem to fit the common usage very well. It doesn't make much sense for Shadow to call Sonic the ULF if it's a matter of being immortal. Another option is that it's a matter of power. Shadow is one of the most powerful characters in the Sonic universe, and since Sonic could compete and even surpass him in strength in SA2, it's reasonable for Shadow to call him the ULF by this definition. As for the final decision, I'd say it's too close to tell; the two are similar in abilities, and while Shadow has the edge in raw power, Sonic's got some tricks of his own. Neither one really pulls far enough ahead of the other for it to be clear-cut. And I'm going to suggest a third option, thanks to something Stingray said. Perhaps the ULF isn't about dominance, but survival? "Winning" life isn't necessarily about clearly dominating every other species, but in your own surviving and being prosperous. In terms of individuals, true immortality would achieve this, so it fits alongside the first definition. Just below that, a creature powerful enough that no other creature is likely to kill it, which ties in definition two. But neither cuts to the core of the issue; they are creatures which will survive, but not creatures whose nature is "survival". To compare, Shadow is incredibly powerful and nigh unkillable, but that's about where it ends. Sonic, on the other hand, will survive anything he is required to, by the nature of the series and his role in it if nothing else. Even discounting that sort of meta thought, it's part of Sonic's nature to always move forward and never stop fighting; he's got an unbreakable will and the strength to back it up (and considering how the emeralds work, it's quite possible the former causes the latter).
  17. 1 point
Well Shadow said Sonic may be the Ultimate Life Form during the Super Sonic and Super Shadow boss fight, and if you listen to what Shadow has to say while your playing as Sonic you'll see that Shadow was having a tough time maintaining his Super form, while on the other hand, Sonic was doing just fine, for example, during the fight you may hear Shadow say, "Sonic, I can't keep this up much longer, hurry!" In the end it was probably Shadow's unstabability of the power of chaos that made his body give out and cause him to fall to Earth and apparantly die. Perhaps the term "Ultimate Life Form" refers to one who is able to control the power of chaos without any side-affects. The chaos emeralds are enriched by one's heart (referring to Tikal's statement, "Chaos is power, power is enriched by the heart) and Sonic has a heart of gold, so could this be what the term, "Ultimate Life Form" means? Edit: Well that is true what Eggman said but also keep in mind that when Eggman told Shadow "You are the Ultimate Life Form" during the fight against Devil Doom, he may have simply been referring to the fact that he is not an android he created but the original Shadow known to be the "Ultimate Life Form". Now, everyone in the Sonic Universe has referred to Shadow as the Ultimate Life Form but what if at one point (reffering to the final boss fight in SA2/B ) deep down inside, Shadow has realised that Sonic has surpassed him and that Sonic is the real Ultimate Life Form, but Shadow is the only person to realize this, even though Shadow shouted to Sonic that he may be the Ultimate Life Form, there is no context to assume that Sonic heard him or if this was just a thought from Shadow's conscience. So basically what I was trying to say is that Eggman and all the other characters may assume Shadow to be the Ultimate Life Form due to Shadow's claim and Gerald's journal, however they are not aware of the events that took place between Sonic and Shadow during the fight against the Biolizard.

Sonic the real Ultimate Life Form?

I say it's nothing more than a well-rounded compliment from Shadow, impressed with the power that Sonic can wield by harnessing the energy of the Chaos Emeralds. A confidence booster more likely. Needless to say, Robotnik's dying speech in Shadow the Hedgehog around the 9 minute mark during your battle with Devil Doom exclaims that Shadow is indeed the Ultimate Lifeform, a song to the same tune in order bolster emotions and confidence (I mean after all, he is your last hope out there.) 8:56 Shadow, can you hear me? This might be the last chance I have to speak to you so… What I said about having created you… It was all a lie… Everyone thought you died… During that horrible incident… But I rescued you… with one of my robots. You lost your memory that’s all. You really ARE the Ultimate Lifeform my grandfather created! But what is really the ultimate lifeform? It can be anything. A body that harnesses the cure for a disease, a vast intelligent being, perhaps more down to earth with wide power and speed. A combination of these elements is a likely candidate, but may not suffice. After all the ultimate lifeform might be the noblest and gentle of creatures with a power unmatched in another unnamed category. So would Gerald be considered an ultimate lifeform? He created a way to save countless lives (Heal Unit), harnessed power with utilizing a clean energy force (Chaos Drive), created a lifeform of immense speed and power (Shadow), and has an wealth of intelligence at his arsenal. Perhaps not by anyone's standards, but it all depends what the definition of Ultimate Lifeform consists of.

I think it's just an aggrandizing title, whether for himself or for someone else. It's like a wordier way of saying "You're the man, Sonic!" Sonic and Shadow seem to be the consistently fastest characters in the franchise, but... Eggman and Tails definitely beat them in intelligence. Furthermore, Gerald probably beats them both. (Eggman calls himself "The greatest scientific genius of the world", but refers his grandfather as "The greatest scientific mind in the history of the world", which seems an admission that Gerald was the superior genius.) Plenty of stronger characters than Sonic, no explanation needed here. Knuckles, Storm, Vector, Big. These guys are all power-houses of strength. Shadow was designed to never naturally age, I think. But he can still die, so he's not "immortal" as some fans claim he is. Every character in the franchise is capable of getting hurt, so no to this.

    "Unspecified Sonic game" for PSN

To me, when they said old Sonic games... its all until the last GBA & GC Sonic games. I think that what their trying to do is enable all of the PS3 owners to play all of the Sonic game that.... just weren't available on the PS3. Wii and DS games can't be included in the Old Sonic game Club. PSP game? Maybe but at a very low chance to be available since... its still a Playstation game, just that its on the handheld. Anyway this looks like a great deal for all of this for 99$. I also hope they have CG arts, behind scenes of the productions of some games, come CG scenes that were cut out of some games, scenes where they produce the game & see the people making the music. Basicly, watch some non-public stuff; Unfinished Sonic games, some sonic game that were left out in beta forms (sonic x-treme), watch the people making the music and designing the games and the like. Having the old school sonic games is cool, but having to watch unrevealed arts, unknown/forgotten games, behind the scene of the productions & music productions would be awesome too.

    "Unspecified Sonic game" for PSN

Entirely different example, dude. As "far off" as it seemed, Sonic in Smash Bros Brawl was still possible, and hell, I think they yanked at the chain a few times - and let's not forget about Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, the biggest hint of the lot. But here, we're talking a compilation of old Sonic games, and none of the DS and Wii titles qualify, and even then, they're Nintendo exclusives, the last thing Sega would want is to do something that could strain its relationship with the leader in both the console and handheld races. Besides, we're talking the DS here. The idea of this compilation having DS games is facepalm-worthy. Seriously. What. The. Hell. Seriously, I doubt Sega would go beyond the Dreamcast titles for this compilation. The key word is OLD games. Anything from this generation and the last, I think, don't really qualify.

Inferior to who, might I ask? The uber-evil cartoon Robotnik who, despite his popularity, is and always was a derivative character based on the game Eggman in the first place? Perhaps that's not what you're getting at, but I'd like to know who Eggman is "inferior" to in this comparison that the fanbase is supposedly making.

Uh. Hi. I haven't had an art topic in a while and I've always wanted to reconnect with the forum and I thought this might be a good start. I write poetry and am active in visual art and photography, so this topic will be very diverse. Plus, right now, I'm publishing a coloring book pretty soon for our small town (vomit), and I'll have a lot of new random projects around the next two months. I have to say though - my main art style is very much ethnic or anime. Those are two major influences. Not to mention cartoon. First I have a couple of paintings. "An Ethnic Bubble" "Drowning in Technicolor" Some self portraits in for my self portrait assignment. Yeah. "My Manic & I" And I still doodle Aoi. :'( I think that's enough for one post lol. Main, I need to do a large scale piece soon, or I'll go insane. Poetry and photography will be another day ~

    Maybe Sonic needs a reboot?

Actually, I'm very aware of Sonic 06 being a "reboot" of sorts for the franchise, but I'm talking about a true reboot which starts EVERYTHING over. Storyline, gameplay, character portrayals, everything. I know that a quality title would win fans over, but when most people think of Sonic these days they think of his "crappy friends", an "inferior" Eggman, and other crap. I just think wiping the slate clean and building from scratch would be one way to go.

    Maybe Sonic needs a reboot?

Okay, so I'm new here to SSMB and this is my first post on this forum. I've been a fan of Sonic since Sonic 2 during the Genesis days. We all know that this decade hasn't been kind to Sonic. He's become the butt of every gaming joke and "asn't had a decent game in years"(yes, the 2D handheld titles apparently don't exist, folks.). There's the constant barrage of "How to fix Sonic" or "Sonic needs to die" topics on everyone and their grandma's blog, youtube video, and forum. The fanbase itself has been divided and broken beyond belief. You've got one part of the fanbase who thinks Sonic's too fast and another that thinks Sonic isn't fast enough. Some who think it can work in 3D and others who think it should stick to 2D. The series has seen better days... I know it sounds like a stretch but I propose that the series make a reboot. Not just a continuity reboot but a reboot of the franchise as a whole. Just something to wipe out all the grime associated with "modern Sonic" and create a entirely brand new Sonic from scratch. Rather than try to "recapture the magic" from the old games, make a Sonic game that'll be good by it's own merits instead. Reinvent itself. Just look at Mario and his transition to 3D. It practically abandoned most of the concepts of 2D Mario and did something else. Sonic should try something like that, and no I don't mean gimmicks like Werehogs and Swords. Do something that uses the 3D environments and takes adventage of Sonic's abilities.

I'm cute =3 lol I usually wear either black bootcut jeans, pale blue skinny jeans or a skirts. I have quite a few skirts, I have several layered ones, a starry one, flowery one, a sort of paisley one and a black one, then I have my zebra print one that's furry and a pleated black skirt. I have lots of t-shirts from Threadless with awesome designs on them too. I also wear either my green striped hoody or I steal JezMM's black hoody, or I wear a hooded grey, short sleeved dress, green knitted hoody or a big cream knit jumper when it's cold, but I need to buy more some time. Generally I just dress so that I look cute. But for work I have a GAME shirt and black trousers (exciting) but I sometimes wear a long sleeved top underneath if it's cold. I don't like smart clothes on anyone. I think that suits are fucking hideous and most girls looked weird dressed up. I like people looking comfy/scruffy. I also really dislike vintage clothing most of the time, except for the odd piece. I just think that most people look really stupid in vintage clothing, these things went out of style for a reason. Also, leggings are trousers. wtf? You look like you forgot your skirt.
