Could it happen? Likely. Will it happen? Unlikely. Would Sonic Team do it well? Extremely unlikely. I appreciate the idea of remastering Sonic Adventure for the modern age, but I have absolutely no faith that Sonic Team could accomplish it.

Tails gets up from his seat. "I'll get the Dreamcast ready! Some of us are gonna need it!" He exclaims, pressing buttons on his DEUS. Sonic stretches as well. "Sure, I could go for a late night mission!" Sayaka raises her hand. "Yeah, so am I!" She shouts with enthusiasm. However, Sonic grabs Sayaka's arm and pushes it down. "Hold it, Sayaka. You need to get some rest. You went on a big scouting mission already, allow me to take things from here, k?" He tells her. Reluctantly, Sayaka nods in agreement. "Considering some Skylanders need to rest, I'll go and help out." Alter-Ego says from his screen before disappearing, uploading himself to the android. Teddie, however gets in a fighting position. "I'll go, too! I'm gonna prove to these pretty ladies that I'm a good guy!" He declares, referring to Futaba and Makoto. Standing, tapping her foot, Hiyoko sighs. "Alright. Count me in or whatever. Duty and shit." She says with a shrug.

"Ghost Kid? I guess as a nickname, it's no so bad." Dave said as he waved at Hsien-Ko as a greeting. Dan didn't say anything or even move that much, he seemed to be deep in thought about something. "I-I-It's n-nice to m-m-meet you. M-My name is M-Mikan." She smiled nervously at the jiangshi. Apart from being blue, Hsien-Ko did look healthy. Mikan had gotten used to people from the multiverse though, so she wasn't going to jump to conclusions based on appearance alone. Although those large claws made her nervous a little. Hearing Tron's voice, Mikan shifts her priority over to checking on Tron Bonne's current condition. "E-Excuse m-me? A-Are you sure you're r-ready to be going on a m-mission? How is your vision now?" Mikan speaks softly and with hesitation at first, but gets right down to business. She might react badly if she suspects a lie is being told. Meanwhile Uni was starting to feel nervous. The Skylanders seemed cautious of what might occur. (Well....some of them anyway...) She was still motivated to do something, but self doubt was starting to surface. Bomberman suspected this as he was walking by her. He chose to encourage her by placing his hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. We are a cohesive unit. That is our greatest strength." Uni reacts to this by trying to hide her insecurities. "Hmph, I-I'm not scared. Don't be stupid..." Futaba suspected she was being challenged and had no intention of backing down. "Ha! Nanites? Childs play. Nanites are also known as nanomachines which are a mechanical or electromechanical device that is measured in nanometers." She had to think about Nicoles other two questions. Building an A.I is something Futaba never really considered before. She was more focused on finding the truth surrounding what happened to her mother. She also knew about a Digital World, but was it the same one Nicole was talking about? "Well...I'm sure I've got the ability to build my own A.I, it's just something I've never thought about before. But I do know about the Digital World. You're talking about Digimon, right? Have you played the newest game? It's awesome!"

"AGREED!" Omega replied. The E-Series bot was more than happy to just charge in, guns blazing. But then Silver spoke up. "Hold on!" he said to both Knuckles and Omega, with a clear tone of seriousness in his words. "We can't just go rushing into this without thinking! We barely even know what to expect when we get there!" It became obvious that Silver was wary about the situation. "Maybe Blaze can help with..." but as Silver looked around the room, he began to realise that Blaze wasn't there. "...Wait, where IS Blaze? She needs to know about this! ...Unless..." Silver could only assume that Blaze was already aware of the situation. Hopefully... "Trust me, Sonic. You don't want to underestimate him, especially if he has ANY kind of advantage!" Silver told the Blue Blur. Omega gave a quick greeting to Tron Bonne, and acknowledged her inquiry. "INDEED, MISS TRON!" Silver then heard Tron's suggestion about bringing a mode of transportation along. "Right!" the hedgehog said, nodding in agreement. "We're probably gonna need it, if what Blaze has told me about the Sol Zone is any indication."

Sally paused, her eyes wide open. Sure, this was dangerous, but... If Sonic and Knuckles can actually work together on something, then really, this was all she wanted. Doing this would be the only way to get a bonding exercise out of the two! Defeated, she groans, "Alright... Just don't get us killed..."

Knuckles gave Tails a slight nudge as he decided to speak up. "Hate to say it, but I agree with Spikebrain here, if we could deal with those two, we can deal with bootleg Eggman, don't sweat it Tails" Knuckles said. A rare moment of two rivals in agreement, either a sign of good things or a sign of disaster to strike.

"I KNOW THAT NAME..." Omega said to the others. "HE HAS ANTAGONISED BOTH SHADOW AND ROUGE IN THE PAST, THOUGH I AM UNFAMILIAR WITH EGGMAN NEGA MYSELF." Silver, meanwhile, could only look down. "...Why? Why would he...?" he muttered under his breath. Silver's hand then started to clench. Professor Von Schlemmer thought for a moment. For some reason, he could almost swear he'd heard the name 'Eggman Nega' before. But where? ...Regardless, something else was on the professor's mind. "Vas zat... a GIZOID?!" he blurted out. "Since ven did you get a Gizoid?!" Omega began to answer Von Schlemmer's questions. "THAT IS E-121 CHI. MERELY A GIZOID REPLICA CREATED BY DR. EGGMAN. HE IS ALSO A SKYLANDER."

Before Silver's question could be answered, the deciphered message began to play. Though what - or rather, who - came up on screen caught him by surprise... -COMMENCING PLAYBACK- "Uh... hey guys." On the screen was E-121 Chi, a Skylander who hadn't been seen for some time. He appeared to be hiding from something. "I know you're probably all wondering why I'm sending this message. Or... why I'm not at Club Penguin at all. I don't have enough time to explain all the details, so I'll keep it brief." "Not too long ago, I decided to look into a situation regarding the Sol Zone. I couldn't find enough information in the Skylanders' Database, though, so I... I left you guys, to find the necessary intel. What I did was selfish... It was stupid. I shouldn't have left you all without telling you. But... now I need you help--!" Suddenly, the video footage began to shake, as if the ground under Chi was rumbing. As he looked up at the sky, the camera started to face upwards too. What the Skylanders now saw was an insane thunderstorm, with what looked to be cyclones forming in the clouds, and sparks of purple lightning crashing down. "See this? This world, the Sol Zone... I don't know how, but something's causing it to go out of whack. Earthquakes, storms, that kind of stuff. The only lead I have is a name: Doctor Eggman Nega. I overheard one of this world's pirates mention his name while talking about a 'large egg', and... well, now they're trying to hunt me down." "I don't wanna risk opening up a portal back to HQ, so I'm sending this message with coordinates for a rendezvous. I just hope this gets to you in ti--" Before Chi could continue, some unknown voices could be heard in the distance. "Yar! The boss said he went this way!" one of the voices yelled. "Oh shoot! Gotta go!" said Chi. -PLAYBACK FINISHED-

Mikan steps back, seemingly taking Tron's words as the truth. "Well....if that is true t-then I guess it's okay. I'd hate to have to arrange some kind of accident to keep you safe if I thought you were lying." That was no blind threat that came from Mikan. Not all the Skylanders are aware of that dark scary side hidden under the surface. Seconds later, her blank expression changes back into her usual timid one that everybody was used to. "M-Maybe I sh-should go with you, j-just to be s-safe. I c-can also p-protect Hiyoko too..." Mikan looked over at Hiyoko when she said that, trying to lower her voice so the best friend doesn't hear. But she was also active in the last mission, was it wise for her to go on another one so soon? Alisa was aware of this and had to ask. "Wait, are you sure you can deal with another mission so soon? Don't you need some rest?" "Oh, it's kind of you to w-worry about me, b-but I'm okay. I-I-It's my j-job to k-keep everyone h-healthy, I-I can't n-neglect my d-duties." Mikan smiles back at Alisa. It seemed like her warning fell on deaf ears. Mikan had neglected her own health to care for others once before. It didn't end well... Dante puts his hand on his chin as if he was recalling something. "Hmm, you're right about that. You'd be alright but the others might die if she's left off the leash for too long." He was making a joke about it, but he was slightly worried for the safety of the Skylanders if Tron was at the helm.

"Heh! Have you seen the Gesellschaft, Mister?", Tron Bonne remarked with a smile. She didn't even bother boasting about its dynamic speed for something its size.... let alone all the facilities, even a rec room! "She can fit even a few transformers in her bottom section! Besides! Strength in numbers too!", Tron Bonne said as she overheard all the other means of travel fellow Skylanders were choosing to bring. At this point, it was a matter of choosing who you wanted to ride with! "Alright then!", Tron Bonne declared as she got on her intercom to radio to her Servbots. "Alright kids! The time has finally come!", she said excitedly, as she stared out the windos towards the hangar. As she was issuing them instructions, the ship in question was slowly rising out as the servbots were bringing it in for boarding. "Get the engines prepped and ready for launch! Oh and make sure to have the dining area cleared of all that curry rice! You're all on duty now! Wah!?" Tron Bonne suddenly found herself being surrounded by Mikan who as worried for her eye sight. @DanJ86 "Hey Dante", Hsien Ko muttered, elbowing the man in question, having noticed him in the elevator. "She's just as bombastic with that airship as last time, am I right?" "Heh! Not to worry!", Tron Bonne said, struggling to escape Mikan's grasp. "It's been practically a month anyway, thanks to whatever that Control Freak did to time here! In fact, I think my vision is even better than before thanks to your treatment!", Tron Bonne assured, gasping for breath. "*Gack! Y-you can even test me for flight on the Gesellschaft, sure! Now, can I please breath now???", Tron Bonne asked, somewhat sarcastically. Well, as best as she could, given the circumstances.

Knuckles gave a shrug as Sally told off Sonic and him. "Princess, you're the one that keeps telling us that we need to get along together, so really this was your plan the whole time to get Sonic and I to agree, right?" Knuckles said, giving Sally the chance to snatch a role in their rare agreement. "I gotta agree with the princess. We need to plan out what we do next, running in without a plan or support isn't going to help and will let him pull a Wily on us" Rock chimed. "Ugh, don't remind me. Between that cheap fake and that monster that pocessed Rouge to try destroy the universe, he's become an annoyance" Knuckles said, rubbing his head.
  12. 5 points
"Huh? Whoa! Is that an actual Inari?" Futaba blurts that out after Sally explained everything. She was referring to Nicole, mistaking her for an anthropomorphic fox. Strange idea, right? "....Princess...of Acorns...??" Judging by her expression which was mostly covered by her goggles, she took that literally. Putting aside her confusion, she felt it was important to mention her skills. "You don't have to worry about computers with me. I'm an expert hacker back home, I know my way around a CPU. My name is Oracle, by the way." She was bragging slightly. She's had difficulties dealing with a low opinion of herself before, but she has always had confidence in her hacking skills. The others watch the video and know it's an emergency. It might be time for another mission. Uni kept looking at the elevator used for the entrance, Noire might not like the idea of Uni going on a mission while she herself had a strong desire to help and prove that she has gotten better. Being used by Tsumugi still bothered her.

Hiyoko does manage to hear Mikan's words. "I'll be fine. What do you call me for, weak?" She asks with a glare. After a small bout of silence, she looks away. "Just don't get in my way by tripping or whatever, because I'm probably the one that has to protect you."

Sounds more like a case of disappointing yourself off of too high expectations to me. Gohan did just fine in today's episode. If anything, what he did was simple yet very smart since Frieza would be the one person who had no qualms in going along with the back-up plan. Everyone was constantly expecting Frieza to do something that would backstab someone. Gohan expected it as well ans rather than wait for him to do it, he made use of the possibility and flat out gave it to him and made it so it would benefit the team instead of hinder it. In Frieza's case, he gets to kill two birds with one stone. Troll Saiyans and last longer in the tourney by taking down an enemy. Gohan got Frieza's full cooperation and managed to take down an enemy without getting blindsided into a shameful loss. As far as I'm concerned, Gohan made all of the right choices. I'm proud of him.

If a brand new HD version of SA1 were to happen, I don't want a remaster, but an outright remake. Sonic Team shouldn't be the ones in charge of remaking the game, though; they'd likely mess it up. I'd rather see someone else take a crack at remaking the game. I have fond memories of the game, but it has a lot of issues that could use fixing. Tweaking the controls, and the camera and such would help tremendously. The graphics could also use some improving, but a remake would improve that. I would still try to stick as close as I can to the original, but put in fixes that wpuld improve the overall experience. But I'd at least try to keep the good stuff and fix the bad. For those who prefer the original version, however, I'd see if I could include it somewhere so that those who prefer it can play it. I'd certainly try to make it the best port; based on the Dreamcast version, but make sure the port is as good as it can be, right down to testing it alongside the original to make sure if nothing else, we don't end up leaving any new bugs in there.

Despite the fact that I have absolutely no faith in Sonic Team to put out a decent remake of SA1, at this point does anyone want more fucking remakes and nostalgia? We've had Sonic 4, Generations, Mania, Forces and whatever else already. No more poorly put together nostalgia please. I want something good and original. And failing that (because this is SEGA we're talking about), at least something original. If you'd asked me this before Generations was announced, I'd have been all over the idea. But since then, the series has done nothing anything except "hey guys remember when Sonic was good?". I definitely don't want it now, but I'd be more interested in it than I was in Forces to be entirely honest. Not likely to happen though.

You mixed up the R and the D in Demastered https://dreamcastify.wordpress.com Anyway, I sympathize with the desire to get a good upgraded version of Adventure out there. Even if you'd have to contend with Big's fishing and Amy's sslloooooww platforming, it'd still be nice to re-experience the game with more visual polish and without the bugs. Maybe someday. But until then, Sega seems to think the DX version is good enough, and that's just a dang shame. SA1 isn't my favorite, and not the best, but it definitely deserves better.

The Phantom Ruby is just a messed-up macguffin that really is just there for the plot to happen. Having it appear in both Mania and Forces just makes things worse, since there appears to be two origins for it, and in both games it works differently. No amount of explaining is going to fix that, even with the vague description we've got for it. If it was to be brought into the comics, give it a better reason to exist. Borrowing from my Rewrite post [from my blog], have the Phantom Ruby be created by Eggman based on a Ruby he once used in the past. However, this version creates phantoms that a person cannot attack but can be attacked by. Infinite becomes the protector of the Ruby, having been created by Eggman for that purpose. He is used in battle, but has self-preservation programming that will make him flee if the danger of defeat is high. For the comic, there is no need for Tails to go off on his own, and no reason for Classic to join the party. If we go by four-part arcs, part 1 is the city as the resistance defend from attack, part 2 is Green Hill as the team work to destroy a factory of Eggman, part 3 and part 4 join together as the assault on the capital - where Infinite and the Ruby are explored - and the destruction of Eggman's main base of operations. Keeps it short, keeps it sweet, but since this is supposed to be after Forces, most of this will more than likely be told in flashbacks.

To make a remade Sonic Adventure game in 2018 that isn't hopelessly outdated would require a game so dramatically different that it wouldn't really be Sonic Adventure anymore. There are fundamental flaws with the game that the series immediately improved upon (not to say Adventure 2 doesn't have it's own, different problems, mind) that I'd say were really only let go back in 1998/1999 because you could count on one hand the amount of purely 3D platformers that were actually better by that point and OMG DREAMCAST SEGA'S BACK.
  20. 3 points
Catch 22. If you don't address the glaring design flaws and change the structure, then the game won't have aged well and will receive it's due criticism. If you do apply any major structural changes, you'll receive endless flak from purists who wanted the exact same game with little to no changes, and they'll wonder why you didn't just make an entirely new game to begin with. It's less dangerous to just release an (actual) enhanced port than to risk an overhaul or remake, I think. As mush as I think Adventure 1 deserves a serious upgrade, I just don't think it's worth the potential damage it could cause.

The season Finale will be U7 coming back to Earth only to find out it has been conquered. When they finally find the one behind this, they realize it's none other than Yamcha, and he's reached Ultra Instinct. And with that, the hiatus starts...

Anyone get the feeling that Mania was more of a original game than Forces?
  23. 2 points
At this point I'd just settle with a port that has the Dreamcast's original lighting, textures, the ability to switch between original and dx models, and the general bugfixes. That's never gonna happen, but it's still more likely than Adventure getting a full remake. Really though this franchise has never done remakes, I don't expect them to start anytime soon.

According to 2 new Tweets (earlier today) by CEO of Blockade Entertainment, Brad Foxhoven, has said that there would be news on the Sly Cooper TV show in the coming month or so. So we will finally see the first bit of actual news (since the announcement back in June) and the broadcaster as well as a possible release date. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/2017-recap-highlights-philippe-soutter/ Also the link above is a new article from the CEO of PGS Entertainment, which is the distributor of the Sly Cooper TV Show, has said that the first episode script has received 5 stars. On top of that they seem to be hinting at it releasing later this year. So, chances are we could see the release of the show at or around anywhere from June - September.

They're canon. All of '06 is canon and actually happened. You have the entire Sonic timeline up to the cutscene where Elise blows out Solaris' flame, then the entire timeline again except this time '06 is only the final cutscene. In order for time to have been reset, the events needed to have happened. "No longer exists" isn't the same as "non-canon".

I don't need a remake, but a better remaster would be nice. Make it look more like the DC version. Like this: Honestly, I'd like modern remasters for all the mainline Sonic games, even the bad ones.

Maybe give the hub worlds the Unleashed treatment, let them have NPCs that offer sidequests instead of the mission system from SADX. That wouldn't hurt much.

IDW doesn't even need especially great legal teams. Penders didn't. Archie was just mind-bogglingly incompetent and SEGA didn't care enough to help. It was an outlier circumstance to end all outliers. IDW only needs lawyers that know what they're doing, and to actually keep their documents in a file cabinet instead of setting them on fire and throwing them out windows like I assume Archie must've. On top of that, if SEGA's really more involved in this, they're not going to let anyone bullshit them around. If anyone tries anything stupid they won't have a chance. Also, big news:

    IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog

See, while I think the Archie fans are completely in their right to not be immediately open-armed towards this new book, I also don't think the new book is in any way in the wrong for cutting ties from what came before. The only links the two share are that they're both comic books and one is following pretty hot on the heels of the other's cancellation (lets discount the staff that are being carried over). While I was barely born at the time, I imagine people weren't on Sonic Underground's case for not using the Satam Freedom Fighters for exmaple and I think that'd have been a far more understandable argument considering how similar they were with their premises. This new book deserves its opportunity to make its own mark. We haven't seen how the IDW series will shape up yet, and sure for all we know it could turn out to be inferior to the Archie days but it's not gonna because it chose to not be Archie. I personally couldn't get invested into the Archie series for one reason or another but I wouldn't have wanted to see it be abruptly ended in favour of a new comic while it was still going. Since that did happen though, I think it's for the best that they don't seem to be looking back. It does suck for the fans of the old comic and they deserved a better ending than they got but it's also a bit unfair to give the IDW book a hard time just for not trying to follow what came before.

    Where is Blaze the Cat?

Shadowlax, you put Blaze in two tiers. Also, I think Silver is slightly higher, in the same place as Blaze, Rouge and Chaotix. He has a larger role then in Forces for a reason (heck, he's got his own t-shirt). The thing is that 'importance' is not a perfect straight line. Silver and Blaze are more popular then Omega and Big, yet Chronicles favored the latter. Why? Because team mechanics. Same reason why Omega and Charmy were in Forces. Because Sega preferred full teams. Eggman is obviously super important and popular, but very fact of not being a furry sometimes diminishes his role. Besides, villains are tricky. Yes, Metal Sonic is classic character. No, he was not in Colors DS. or Sonic Dash. Or Riders 1&2, Or really in Forces. And what about Orbot and Cubot? They so small we're not even talking about them, yet they appear much more frequently than even Shadow in recent tittles. Rouge never had her own game (like Silver or Blaze) or her own Sonic Universe (Archie comics, again unlike Silver ad Blaze), but she spends so much time with Shadow, she probably has more appearances then those two. Or look at Big, he's so unpopular that he became popular. Mostly in fan project (Big Fishing Adventure, Facebook), but also Lego Dimension. Or to putted it differently, who's more important: Rosalina or Gomba? One is actual character with fanbase, the other is classic part of the series, appearing in every game. Seriously, since 2010 Blaze was in Generations, Colors DS, every Olympics, Dash, Runners, Jump and Free Riders. She's not being 'neglected'. This game is her first hiccup in loooong time. Heck, Olympics games favored her over Rouge, Silver, Metal, Cream or Espio. EDIT: Absolute list of importance. Warning, I'm repeating myself a lot.

Have there been that many examples of omission that's isolated to her or smaller than just the entire secondary cast since Generations aside from Forces? Lost World certainly doesn't count as the roster for that was minimal, Boom went with the absolute favourites for a long time and only threw in a deviation near the end of season two of the show, Mario and Sonic had her, as did Runners. The only other omission I guess is its sequel, Runners Adventure.

    GUN in Forces

Personally speaking, I've next liked GUN and their presence in the series. Humans are absolutely fine, but literally "the army" fighting the "terrorist" Eggman has absolutely nothing to do with what I think Sonic should be. It clashes horribly. Anytime that a Sonic game tries to mature, it comes off as ham fisted. The plots of SA2, ShTH and '06 were all just awful. Forces doesn't have GUN because SEGA don't care for consistency, and in this case they wanted to present a story about a small rag-tag resistance of animals taking back the world from Eggman and Infinite. It doesn't make any sense that GUN were totally MIA, but you've got to accept that there's no enduring plot points in the series anymore. Each game is its own isolated story that may or may not reference anything else. Forces' representation of the world is just six or seven different environments, it makes no mention of the Emeralds or Angel Island and it doesn't even properly tie in to Mania (Classic Sonic from a different dimension and the Phantom Ruby does what?). When Sonic stories have inconsistencies between games these days, you just have to ignore it. The explanation is just that SEGA wanted to do it differently

You know those guys who made all those shitty Ice Age sequels? They made The Peanuts Movie and it turned out spectacular because the Schulz estate ruled its production with an iron fist over every facet, right down to its depiction of any and all technology depicted in it. If Nintendo maintains a similar level of creative control over the film, especially after the live-action disaster, it'll probably actually end up being great.
