I drew a sketch of a fantasy character I have, and it looks so good! I can finally see how much I’ve improved, that I’m confident enough to share it!

I've reached 100 subscribers on Youtube! No way! Thank you, everyone who made this possible. I know, it seems small compared to the big boys in the Youtube game, but knowing there's people out there who enjoy what I do... that's what matters most, right?

Just announced and confirmed that the next mainline entry in the popular Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotoku series is aptly titled Yakuza 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness. Surely the folks over at SEGA West will shorten that title for us less intricate fans in due time. This game's protagonist (from Yakuza Online) is named Ichiban Kasuga. As for the gameplay...remember way back to April Fools Day this year where footage of said protagonist was in an JRPG setting and like none of us actually believed it was gonna be in a numbered entry to the series and just for Online? Well that's the new gameplay style for 7. What madmen they are. Here's the teaser trailer (down below), official website is now up with info, and Twitter translations courtesy of Gematsu: Who hype? I'm hype.

Normally I would agree, but the problem with that is that creates a slippery slope. What someone does in their personal life, is, of course, their business. But if they're a liar, cheater, sending nudes to minors (Yes, we've established that he didn't KNOW they were minors, but he is still a moron for not considering how easy it is to lie about your age on the internet), or doing scummy things all around, that's a bit of an issue for me, and, by the reaction to the ordeal at large, it's also an issue for many people. But, of course, conversely, there are people who don't care at all, which is also fine. Some people just want to watch the content and don't really care who makes it, which, I admire your ability to separate the artist from the art.

That's just the thing about becoming a public figure, whether you want it or not, people are going to hold you up as a "role model" as you put it. As for why everyone is so angry, it's because cheating is an incredibly scummy and shitty thing to do, (not that I have much sympathy for Heidi either) and it makes it all the stranger that he waited months to say anything, on top of redirecting blame yet again.

Jango, I appreciate your enthusiasm for CTR, because I love the game too, but I think you can sometimes take it too far. It took me days of grinding online to unlock Tawna and the Nitro Girls, so it's not like the GP characters can be unlocked really easily. Keep in mind that a lot of people play CTR with family and friends, and it's really annoying to grind to this extent to unlock them. Also, I think you should keep in mind how good you are at this game, because I know youve gotten the platinum relics and can destroy the Oxide Ghosts. I bet you usually place highly onine, how long would it take if you didn't?

Yeah, no. Even if, somehow, you expect me to believe that this time that's not what you meant when you say something implying that you're the only one capable of critical analysis; you've got a rap sheet a mile long from this exact thing. We've had members tell us outright that they avoid topics you post in because of this exact thing. Multiple staff members have attempted to have conversations with you where you've done this exact thing. You were already banned once, and fairly recently, for this exact thing. "People could just try not being offended when I do this exact thing, except I somehow don't mean it in that way this time" isn't an option you're being presented with. You can choose your words more carefully, so they don't come off as completely indistinguishable from when you're deliberately being condescending, or you can leave.

I don't know where you got the idea that anyone was asking for that, but come on. It's been well documented that Activision and Beenox intentionally made the unlocking system, Nitro Guage and Pit Stop with the free-to-play model made to wear on players' patience and get them to pay for coins. So, please refrain from trying to suggest that players want things handed to them on a silver platter when we rightfully bring up issues with the system. Mind you. It is a fact that it takes hours to rake up the dough needed for the materials in the Pit stop, and even days to unlock at that. That was one of the facts that was actually discussed. Hey, you wanna know what else makes the time getting Wumpa coins online tedious and ever enduring? Shoddy online makeup. It's no wonder that people spend hours trying to grind enough coins. What with hosts dropping out and the game lacking host migration, taking forever to get a lobby at times. These are problems that we can't ignore. If people are trying to get those in the first place, why make the foolhardy assumption that they'll never even use them? Why does this need to amount to competition? What's wrong with simply wanting this game to not have the BS system that Activision/Beenox gave the majority of its unlockables, not stress out players with time-limited content, and not forcing players to grind whichever way or another? It's not legitimately challenging. It's just time-consuming in the most inconvenient of ways. Come on now. You've got to realize that's not the case by now. And if it's another joke, it's not funny. And with crap like this, it's no wonder people are sick of having to use online to get stuff. And it's impossible to suggest that anyone who doesn't go online got a fair deal either.

It's been a thing across all regions ever since the game's release. How would allowing players to have more say in the rate of their unlocked be a bad thing? Hell, players countlessly have legitimately derided the limits to Wumpa time because of it being there only to hinder progress in a player hostile manner. It's nothing to do with your/others connection, the servers are notoriously unstable. My connection is enough to play other online games with no drops perfectly, yet in CTR, there's times where the servers shit a brick and don't let me play, because any time I get into a lobby, it drops all of the players out, and resets it. I've had it happen multiple times and caused me to not be able to find a game for upwards of 10 minutes. On this note. That does bring in to mind, another reason why the time limits are unfair. See, a lot of people don't really have all day to do these Wumpa time sessions. While lobby time does not affect the time for Eumpa time, it does waste away at time before Wumpa time resets. Because of the many problems with Nitro Fueled's online, especially the lobby problems, people can lose out on Wumpa time if they're playing closer to the deadline reset time. That's it, it's gone. Not due to the fault of the player, but that of the developers who don't seem to be in any rush to fix the problems.

I've had it happen multiple times and caused me to not be able to find a game for upwards of 10 minutes. And even at that, sometimes, when this does happen, and it somehow miraculously makes it to the game, either the other players lag like absolute hell, or the game glitches out and literally refuses to start the race, leaving all of the players hanging at the start line, waiting for the lights to appear, forcing me to quit to the main menu again. This isn't due to bad connection, it's due to bad netcode and bad server management, and it's very apparent.

Could you explain the video to me? I’ve had this happen but I don’t understand the issue. Perhaps I’m ignorant for being new to playing online but I just come out of a lobby and go back on again if this happens then I’m attached to a new one again. Usually I’m out of a race for no longer than two minutes max. Should the process be faster or non-attach? I usually just presume there’s an issue with my or players connections for it to happen. ———— As for people not getting a fair deal for not playing online... don’t think anyone would suggest that they get a good deal. Players that choose to not play online or don’t have the ability to play online have the worst deal. I started off that way myself and it sucked to play 60 near identical races offline just to get a skin or character. The game was clearly designed for online grind or offline wumpa coin purchasers. Much more fun that way. But, I guess at the end of the day you have to appreciate everyone’s time commitments are different with playing to grind for items - this was never going to suit everybody and I do agree there is some masterminding behind pursuing and pressuring players to fork out more cash. Im clearly not a target for this, so I have no real issue about it. And whilst I agree it’s not great to grind in a racing game - apart from changing it to purchase only packs or releasing all this stuff for free...what else could they do? All this content is basically free anyway, and it’s stuff that never existed in the first original game. You can’t lock everything behind adventure mode and time attacks. At the end of the day the Coin grind is a fair compromise in my opinion. The multipliers alleviate a lot of the time consuming play - and on a positive flipside these also incentivise breaks to take from the game - the daily 5x multiplier is 30 minutes in game - imagine if it was forever - not good. But we also get x2 multiplier for a 3 days weekend AND x10 for the first 30 minutes of those 3 days. It’s very good. In actual fact regardless of your position at the weekend you will get an easy payload - 3000 Wumpa minimum a day at least if you rank 4th or below for 30 mins of online play in game. I would also just like to bring back up that this is a remake of Crash Team Racing. We have been spoilt bucketloads with endless new content and the developers have clearly put a lot of time and effort into making. The game is something more than this could have been, so despite everything I can’t help but find myself still vaulting above the negative barrier than doing the conga below it.

Well, since we're all just kinda walking around in circles in this thread waiting for something new to pop up that isn't a totally fake """leak""", I'd figure that I'd just pop in a little interesting tidbit that I stumbled across a few months ago that answers a few of the questions I had regarding the VFX when watching the trailer once you think about it. These two comments were posted under a reaction video to said trailer. Before anyone asks, yes I verified that the animator ain't lying. Searching his name on Google takes you to his Linkedin profile, which states that he's currently working for Moving Picture Company, a VFX house who are indeed working on the film. [fyi, please don't harass this guy to try and get more info, he's prolly under an NDA so he can't say much else] Even though it's just two comments, I feel that I can infer quite a bit from this. If I may go into a bit of speculation, the fact that they were constantly getting new designs/models, even up till the very last possible moment before the trailer dropped, makes me think that production has been at least a bit chaotic, even before the news of the redesign and delay, and even while the VFX and animation process was underway, when they should probably already have a finalized design and model to ensure a smooth production. It might also explain that weird feeling I got when watching the trailer - plenty of shots looked unfinished [especially throughout the middle], and I had a sneaking feeling that Sonic's look was constantly changing ever so slightly throughout the whole trailer, almost like they were switching between different models throughout numerous shots in the trailer. Turns out that might be the case after all. They were getting new, tweaked models all the time, so they weren't able to finish up all the shots with the latest model they got in time for the trailer - and they got new stuff while they were in the middle of making those shots, and they might've not been able to update them properly in time, which explains why Sonic doesn't blend well with the environment more than half the time in the trailer, and also why a lot of the other CG elements in it look like total ass. The VFX team simply didn't have enough time given their circumstances. Of course I might just be looking too deep into this - it is just a few Youtube comments. But my dumb self speculated about this, and came out with some interesting propositions that I felt like I wanted to share (which may or may not even be actually true). Make of this what you will. Apologies if this seems too ramble-y or somethin'

He also loves Big and he's not in IDW, unlike Metal Overlord who he dislikes. And he claimed Blaze is in top 5, which is surprising to say a least. Amount of each character Flynn decided with brain: how someone is popular, who naturally fits into a story, for whom he has plans for future. You know, bunch of variables. HOW he writers characters Flynn decided with heart: he's trying to make everyone happy, but as every humans has weaknesses and biases, so he'll write some characters better than others? And that's fine. Can I blame him that writing Omega is so easy and fun, while Shadow is controversial, complicated, convoluted so writing him is hard? ...maybe a little. Writing is his job. On a different topic, we're going to Central City. That's human town. Stage from Shadow Game, implied setting of SA2 and HUB from Battle (and considering super computer and Cream's drawing map, last one will be main influence). Okay, so in Battle we don't see any humans, but Rouge takes orders from government and has access to some facilities, implying GUN involvement. Isn't that exiting? ...who am I kidding. There will be no humans and everyone will act like they were never there.

Blaze isnt in this arc either right now. As mentioned before shadow is around because people like shadow and odds are the stuff with his face on it sells well. So having some fight event with him during the summer is possibly some milestone that needs to be hit. Absence doesn't mean the bias doesn't exist, they could just come in the story later. Certainly doesn't remove the perceived bias But how shadow continues to be treated should be made note of. Because no one else even the Babylon rogues, a group of characters he admits to not liking gets treated like this

I'm not shocked by all of this mess because Ian has always been accused to play favorites, game fans and Sonamy fans accused him of using Sally as a pet character, and vice versa the SatAM fans thought he was killing them off later in the original continuity. Shipping Wars… blah blah blah. Similar to that, he gets accused of hating Shadow. Besides, no one pointed out that Knuckles is one of his admitted top favorite characters, and where is he in this arc? By the way, I requested this cover and here it is, Surprise! Yep, that's Hesse, and it's the cover for issue #25, an extra long issue.

    IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog

I feel like the major characterization and emotional stakes issues take root from the storyline's origins - namely that Ian revealed that the arc was originally set down to be the 300th issue milestone story for Archie Sonic. For context as to where that would've been placed, it would be roughly 12 or so issues after the Shattered World Crisis, so giving about a year of cooldown time for the cast. While details are sketchy, we do know what Ian was planning for the eight to sixteen remaining issues after Genesis of a Hero in particular between Universe and the actual series - the series would've been about both the Freedom Fighters, Sonic, and the SEGA cast going their separate ways and trying to go back to their lives post-SWC. This would've entailed the FF getting a Universe arc where an issue focuses on them (With one of the issues being a reveal that Bunnie was originally from the Sol Dimension IIRC). What this would mean is that not only would we already have the mountains of world-building already from Shattered World Crisis, but we also would've had a cooldown period that was gonna let us get to know more about not only the comic cast, but the SEGA cast as well, which would've slotted them in perfectly for the Zombot Crisis come Issue 300. For me personally, I really do feel like the core issues of this storyline is because Ian rushed it into Year 2/3 of the comic, when the planning didn't fit it. Like in a hypothetical timeline where Archie Sonic continued past Issue 300, I could see a lot of these plot moments work a bit better, because the previous 30-40 issues would've built up enough emotional and character stakes to make things have an impact. Like, if we saw Meropis, or Yurashia get hit by the Zombot virus instead of nameless villages filled with nameless citizens we know nothing about, we might've actually gotten hit by a full impact because we had previous arcs that let us get acquainted with these locales, and their cast of characters. Granted, I still feel like a lot of the problems would still be present, I don't think this arc is really going to start firing on all jets until we get an issue or two where we just get to see the characters take a moment to try deal with the fallout of the Zombot attacks. No action, no fighting, just give us a full character issue where we get to see in-depth how they're affected by the Zombot Fallout so we can connect with them better. Issue 20 sounds like it's starting to get the right idea of where to take it, but unless they begin to seriously bunker down and go all the way with it, it's just gonna be a half-measure that doesn't hit the mark.

    IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog

Well, the plot isn't really anything to write home about; it's a pretty bog standard zombie apocalypse story, but yea without any real emotional conflict or development, it is basically just shock value and not much else. I hope the next major arc is more centered on characterization though, especially since we've had two larger scale conflicts like this in a row. I feel that's my biggest criticism towards the series so far; without much character or world building, there's really not much investment beyond just seeing your favorite character smash up stuff, and be shocked at all of the bad things happening. Like, it's fine for pure shock value and whatnot, but it doesn't have much substance ya know? Like for instance; this issue established Cream having nightmares about what happened to Cheese and Chocola two issues ago...with a single panel of dialogue before moving on to the next major plot point. I do agree with Shadowlax that there's no real emotional reaction to Shadow becoming a zombot either; literally one of the strongest guys is now an enemy...and nobody really cares about it, before we move on to the next plot point. I think the series is too eager to rush from plot point to plot point without really giving the reader time to digest and let the characters react. The evens happening are certainly a big deal, but the characters aren't really behaving like it is beyond standard "THIS IS BAD!!" type of reactions. And it irks me because I can SEE the potential there. Like, I LIKE how sad and depressed Sonic looks. I like how this conflict IS affecting the cast, but I want the series to SHOW it. Give us some panel time of the cast interacting and giving their own perspectives and reactions on the situation. The talk between Sonic & Shadow in last issue was great because of that; Sonic has to confront that this is technically his fault, and Shadow has to face his anger at the situation for not doing what he set out in issue 6. Things like that are GREAT, and I want more of it. Think my biggest take from this is that Flynn needs to slow down a bit. Let the cast lick their wounds and digest the situation a little and just...act like themselves.

Yo dog you can litterally see me in multiple other threads suggesting he should write the games. Maybe I think this specific thing is kinda trash... and I wanna talk about how its trash and Maybe he has a history of doing this to this one specific character, and that does hold merit Eh, its not only because of that. So you have this weird thing you bring up about me wanting shadow written in a specific way. So let inform you how this is incorrect. I have no issue with how , shadows being written. I have an issue with the quality of how he's being written and the lack of follow through. I don't mind boom shadow. My issue with boom shadow and this shadow is , its still supposed to be kind of the same guy. And that's my main issue. If they want a wild ass different take on shadow... Cool. Shadow's a character who's gonna exist forever presumably because disney keeps ruining copyright, so he's gonna change. The batman I read as a kid isn't the same as the one in the comics now. And that's... good! He's generally better , you shouldn't hold characters to one standard variation of the character that exists. I believe if you call on my posts, in other threads... desiring a reboot and desiring a change for shadow. I think they should get rid of maria and gerald strait up. Keep like the essence of it but create something. But my issue with this is , is that it hasn't justified itself. I said this back issue 6 shadow has failed to established who he is as a character besides annoying. As of currently he has no reason to exist. This is more than " not being written in a way I want him to " its being written badly. And Ian flynn history of writing this very specific character out of narratives. And I think its ok to bring that up, because Ian flynn , surprising is a human being. And sometimes , actually often times human beings have unconscious biases that may pop up in artistic works. In this book, after whatever the fuck that was last issue. There was a nothing fight and barely any reaction to shadow being the way he is. Which brings me the last reason why I'm not fond of this issue and why you haven't been paying attention. Shadow isn't written in this issue. Everyone else is . My issue here is that the fight , isn't interesting. Shadow's OOC weirdness last issue on that basis isn't justified. Then the reaction to him being zombified isn't... good. There's barely anything. This character who unassumingly meant something to people, didn't really mean anything at all and is quickly brushed off. And that's where " fuck this character in particular " comes from, shadow in the entirety of this book, has yet t prove to you , why he's around as a character. And the one moment where he could have, he turns into a zombie and no one gives a fuck. I don't care if shadow's different. I want 3d sonic reboot. Yes there can be bad interpretations, like say movie sonic. But i'm generally open to seeing those interpretations. Like movie sonic. I'm gonna see that film in theaters. Like I am also , in a sea of people saying boom was trash i stand by it was a lot of potential in that concept. Fuck my shit fam. But if you gonna do it, justify it. Justify the characters being there, and prove to me that its worthwhil and matters. And with shadow in particular this book hasn't. And yes there are other characters in the book who are fine, that's cool. He's my favorite and I am allowed to have that bias. And i'm allowed to point out that's a very dour point in the book. Espically in issues, FOCUSED AROUND HIM. Like... I dunno if this was a tails issue and shadow was just in the background and I was like " Shadow's left shoe was in the wrong position shut it down" call me out. But considering these books right now are focused around this character and they aren't great, it might be a good time to point that out? Lastly I don't think this is an unfair stance, because again. Flynn writing shadow is literally a meme now. It is so weird and happens so often every time flynn writes shadow to the degree in which not only multiple members of this forum brings up how flynn has written shadow in the past in these scenarios and this book. That it is a meme on other websites, flynn shadow is a meme. Its not an unfair stance its a thing that keeps happening and people see pattern. Ian Flynn wants these uncharitable views of his work to stop, Ian flynn needs to do better. He needs to learn how to write shadow in an ensemble cast that doesn't involve him being removed or some sort of death. And I say all this , about a man I think should be working on the games. He is still not absolved of criticism.

If people didn't care about collecting everything, this wouldn't be a problem period. Because then Activision and Beenox wouldn't have had a reason to implement these grind systems in the first place. The stance of "not everyone collects everything" is a complete logical fallacy. The exact reason why the wumpa coin and nitro systems are in place, as well as grand prixs being filled with absolutely meaningless crap is because Activision know full well that plenty of people out there are completionists who want everything. In fact, I can tell you because I am a completionist how the exact mindset works. You go into CTR, you see a ton of new stuff being unlockable, including karts, and more important to me - characters and costumes. You think "oh cool, I want these" until you realise how much of a complete grind it is to attain them. But still, they look really really awesome. But you don't want to dedicate hours upon hours of the game to unlocking these items. Put simply - you get burnt out. That's when Activision and Beenox pulls their first parlour trick - you can buy a wumpa coin pack and skip the grind altogether. Doing this, you waste little to no time, and still get those cool items you've been looking for. However - if you're also like me - you don't like paying cash just to skip tedious grinds, because put simply - you do not want to support this shit. That's where point number 2 of the trick comes in - vagueness. Activision and Beenox are intentionally vague about how their grand prix system works, and you can easily see this. For starters - there's the fact as I already brought up that they didn't mention a word about being able to pay wumpa coins in order to skip the nitro grind, and especially didn't mention they'd be adding it after the Back N Time grand prix, unlike the Nitro Prix, which didn't have such a feature. This then leaves people like me in this situation - you got burnt out from the first prix, and ended up not finding the will to play much this time around. You then don't have a huge supply of coins, because you spent them getting Baby Crash, Coco, and what have you. You decide to try grind out wumpa coins quickly to complete the bar. Not an unreasonable task, if you had a reasonable amount of time to do so - for example - a week. But we didn't have that. Because Activision is churning out grand prixes one after another to keep the grind going, so you get about 4 days max to grind the coins, and since those days also don't fall on a weekend, you'll only grind about 2k max a day. Which leads me into point number 3 - people keep pointing out that Activision is only giving a few days break before starting the next grand prix - this is intentional. Because if you had a sufficient amount of time to break from the game, you'd be coming back refreshed, and therefore likely able to put up with the grind more easily. The whole point is to keep the grinding consistent, and constantly wearing at the player, so they'll eventually say enough is enough, and end up paying up money to skip it altogether. And returning back to point number 2 - the big reason that's going to affect completionists, and the one that's been wearing down on me - uncertainty. The devs have intentionally been quiet about how previous prix cosmetics will work in the future. There's been word that they might never come back, there's been word they might return to the normal grand prix shop at some point in the future, although it's not certain. What this means for people like me - is that there's a ton of cosmetics and cool items/characters we might want to get, but we can't put up with tedious grinding month after month. But we also have no guarantee that these characters, items, and cosmetics will ever return. That's the specific point Activision and Beenox targets - the fact that a game could quite literally be rendered impossible to fully complete because if you stop your grinding, or don't pay up, then you don't get the exclusive items that might never return. It's another manipulation example so microtransactions can be incentivised and highlighted. Skip the grind quicker, and come back into the next grand prix fresh without missing anything. If you really want my perfect example of Activision and Beenox knowing exactly what they're doing - there's no reason whatsoever for these characters, karts, and cosmetics to be exclusive to their prixes. If it was proper content drops, they'd be added into the Pit Stop for anyone to buy whenever it suits them, and without having to worry about not seeing them for a year, if they come back at all. I can understand the exclusive nitro meter items remaining exclusive to their retrospective grand prixes, but frankly, there's no reason why tons of the game's cast should be excluded unless you happen to grind out and buy them during certain events. It's absolutely idiotic. and exists for one sole reason - to place down an exclusivity banner on them, and pressure people to scoop them up ASAP or else miss out on them entirely, and when you're on a time crunch, it becomes easier and easier to push those microtransactions as a quick and easy way to get what you want.

    Blue Blood

    The ProJared Drama

Based on the most recent developments, I think it's fair to say that Jared seems to be innocent of the most serious accusations. I also don't think that he cheated on his wife in quite the way it's been spelled out previously, but as before I don't really care about that because it's absolutely nobody's business but theirs. It seems like the only thing that Jared did wrong was engage in sexual activity with fans. While it could have been with innocent intentions as he claims, it remains a fact that it was a stupid and dangerous thing to do. For one, there's the inherent power dynamic that he was unintentionally abusing. And for two... people lie and manipulate on the Internet. Whether they lie about their age for sexual activities or lie for attention from the public, it was inevitable that anyone in Jared's position would get burned sooner or later. The man is an idiot.

Liking a game while also proclaiming to others that it's terrible I think is a symptom of the way the fanbase deals with opinions that deviate from the perceived norm.

Not really. The Penders/Archie incident comes from two things : Pender's ego and the problems in the remuneration of author in the Comic Book industries (especially problems around royalties). As jerky as Penders is, the freelancing situation is pretty difficult for many creators that aren't "big names", and this whole stuff come from problems that are known in the industrie for a while. The whole fluff is added by Penders ego, how he seem bitter about all that and how he think that he is the one making Sonic comics famous, but it all steem from the royalties question, and the freelancing question for artists. The whole Spiderman conflict is basically two megacorporation fighting for a big bag of money around a famous icon, one wanting to keep the status-quo that arrange them especially as it became their biggest earning movie IIRC (Sony) and the other wanting a deal that would arrange them more by moving to a full co-production (Disney). It's then a "political" (in a broad sense) question between two companies. Basically the context and the actual questions are quite different, for me. The biggest common point is that both Sony and Penders believe they can continue working alone… But it's just a detail in the big picture imo. Another could be that in both case, the ones actually working on the products have to rework a lot of things.
