    Sonic Boom (Untagged Spoilers)

I'm not surprised, but that is sad to hear. I for one loved Sonic Boom, and thought that - while the quality of the games ranged from sub-par to terrible - the cartoon and comic were really charming and had a lot of heart. Boom Eggman is one of my all-time favorite takes on the character, narrowly beaten out by the Sonic X comic and maybe the Sonic X anime. I just love how relatable and human he was in this series; How he had actual friends, a makeshift "family" of Mom-Bot and Morpho, and an absolute plethora of episodes focusing on him as the central character. Sonic Boom was extremely kind to Eggman, giving us more Eggman-centric stories than any other iteration of the Sonic franchise. What he lacked in menace or villainy, he more than made up for in character. So long, Sonic Boom. And thanks for the memories!

In my honest opinion, Zavok should've been removed from TSR's story mode. Keep it Eggman, Metal Sonic, and egg-robos/pawns , and change Team Eggman to Team Villains. That way, Zavok can be playable in other modes, but isn't being categorised as working with Eggman.

It's nearly been three years since Sonic Boom ended, the producers and writers said the show is over, and SEGA has gone on point for saying that they want to take the series in another direction for ages now. It's dead. SEGA can always go back and make new episodes of AoStH, SatAM, Underground, and X, but they haven't in years. They're dead shows. And Boom is now too. It was a good show, but it's obvious at this point that it isn't coming back, and SEGA have no reason to bring it back. On another note, I edited the topic title to be a general Boom topic now.

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures is lowkey one of my favorite games to mess around in simply for the spritework and animation. There was a lot of effort put into it in that regard. I mean, just look how large the sprite sheet for Pac-Man alone is.

The thing that should probably be remembered about Archie and Pontac&Graff respectively is that:. Archie had been going on since before SatAM proper got rolling, which meant it started with and developed with versions of the characters and franchise that didn't always gel with what SonicTeam would establish as the status quo five years later. Foundational headwriters Micheal Gallagher and Ken Penders weren't into the [region specific version of the] games that served as the source material and as such had to operate both on what their styles were and whatever Sega provided for them to work with. Mr. Pontac and Graff are TV writers with a penchant for absurdism and comedy that just so happened to turn in a prompt/script that SonicTeam liked and so just operated on that in combination of what they personally researched about the series plus whatever Sega wanted from that particular story. Not unlike what Archie had done before, now that I think about it, except with far more of a background and oversight to work under. To hover on what I specifically what to say though, the latter actually isn't that out of reason on paper and even had precedent established in prior games. The problem was that the pacing, tone, and focus for the story was off. It's important to note that Tails wasn't too bothered about the Zeti situation either at first. He just became hostile with Eggman after a bit for reasons they didn't establish. Really?

More to the point, Sonic and Eggman (along with Tails, since he's the subject here) have teamed up plenty of times before Lost World. It should almost be routine by now, and not warrant this sort of argument. In SA2, when Eggman led the operation to shut down the Eclipse Cannon, Tails didn't get all huffy and insist that Sonic wasn't trusting him to do it. He followed Eggman's lead and even helped direct over the radio during Eggman's own segment. Tails didn't turn a world-saving truce into his own personal ego trip in SA2, and if the writers knew his character better, he wouldn't have in Lost World either.

Well, I admit I am being pretty biased against Archie Comics, since, I for one, haven't read the comics in a long time. But I do recall that the "drama" aspects were a huge turn off for me, and wholly exemplify bad characterization at its finest, as altering characters original personalities in such a drastic way brings a disservice to the plot. And like you said, same with the games. The moments where Tails and Sonic argue about Eggman in Lost World, don't seem like it would fit their original characterizations, especially since Eggman has been their enemy since the series conception. But then again, I felt that Tails may have been insulted moreso because he felt that Sonic undermined his intelligence(?) But even so, like you said, Tails used to seem so much more level-headed... Anyways, I don't hate all drama. Something has to make certain plots viable and interesting. However forced, heavy drama, or drama in a place where it does not belong is extremely unwarranted. This isn't some fanfiction.

    Filling the Blanks: Mobian Culture

I've thought about this and I'm not sure where I fall on it. Like Cream is being raised by her mother; is she the exception in society generally or are Tails and Amy unusual, we just see more of them and other uncommonly independent types? If it is normal for kids that young to be on their own in-universe it takes away some potential pathos from those characters. Tails finding an older sibling in Sonic loses some of it's emotional punch if it's actually no big deal for an eight year old to have no guardian figure. Now that I think about it, I wonder how many characters we know might have living parents. Knuckles, Blaze, Jet, and presumably Wave and Storm all have inherited positions from their parents, who would logically be deceased or else the characters wouldn't be doing their jobs. Tails, Amy, and Charmy might have biological parents who abandoned them or their parents might be dead. Espio and Silver are in a weird place; Espio is still a minor but he's also old enough to work a full time job, so within the scope of what we see him doing it doesn't matter if he has parents or not (ie Vector could be his guardian, or just his boss). And Silver offers us zero details about what his personal life is like; he could easily have living parents that we never see just like we never see any aspect of his time period. Sonic... might not have parents. And Rouge, Big, and Vector are adults.

Actually, since that redesign leaked, many people on social media have been reacting A LOT more positively to the film. It would be nice if Paramount notifies the public 24 hours in advance of the trailer debut. (They did that for Terminator: Dark Fate's trailer in August, putting a countdown timer until the trailer premiered the next day on YouTube) it'd be fun to count down the minutes together in anticipation. Get the popcorn ready! 😊

    Filling the Blanks: Mobian Culture

I consider the question essentially flawed: Hedgehogs, Foxes, Echidnas, Cats, etc aren't one ethnic group that can be lumped together like that. They don't share any traits in common with each other that they don't also have in common with humans. It's why I dislike Sonic X and the Paramount movie making Sonic live in another dimension. It doesn't reflect on his personality or tastes or beliefs in the slightest way. For example Sonic moonlights as a DJ. So does Dr. Eggman. Their culture is basically similar, and nothing in particular sets Hedgehogs apart. On the other hand we have seen other cultures in Sonic's world that seem to be species-specific, like the Echidna civilizations or the Babylon Rogues. These guys are distinct from other cultures, but they're distinct in the same way the culture of the United Federation is distinct from that of Soleanna. Sonic and Amy's lifestyles are a lot more different from Jet and Wave, the heirs of an ancient band of thieves, or for that matter Big, a hermit who lives in the jungle, than they are from the Robotniks or the people who live in Station Square. Counter example: The Babylon Rogues, the Battle Kuku Empire, and the Jackal Squad follow exactly the same kind of voluntary segregation as the Koalas et al on Blaze's world, as did the ancient Echidnas (who further broke down into separate tribes), and these groups are virtually our only examples of non-human organizations outside of Sonic's immediate circle of misfits. And if Jet ("Without a pair of wings, you might as well kiss the ground and go home!") and Infinite ("Still thrashing around I see, like a filthy sewer rat.") are any indication these groups are quite capable of being racist- not even Eggman tash talks Sonic like that! When we do see large numbers of different species working together, such as in Forces, it's during a massive crisis situation where society has utterly broken down. I also find the idea of them having a lower crime/evil dictator rate amusing. For criminals we have Rouge, Fang, three members of the Babylon Rogues, seven members of the Jackal Squad, Shadow in his first appearance, Shade when she was operating as a Marauder, the Space Pirates in the Twilight Cage, Pachacamac and the four tribesmen who helped him attack the Emerald shrine Vs Eggman and Eggman Nega. And, like, however many guys participated in the ARK raid. As for dictators we have Pachacamac again, Ix, and Grand Battle Kuku XV Vs Eggman and Eggman Nega.

So... at the end of september, I attempted to do a 24 hour comic... But I had to work during that day... So on one of my days off, I tried doing a late one with a slightly different premise... That didn't work out well either, as I only got 10 pages done before the time was up. So in the end, I decided to just finish the comic at my own pace while following some of the rules of a 24 hour comic. As I did so, I started coming up with lore and backstory on my off time, and WOW I've come up with a lot of stuff. But before I get into my story idea, here's the two protagonists of the comic, the Dragon Princess of Forevershade Kingdom, Fairclaw, and her optimistic witch/hunter/alchemist companion, Hiss (An older character I ended up reimagining these past few months.) The setting is fairytale esque in a somewhat contemporary setting, with people, creatures and beings from fairy tales and other classic stories. So, I ended up writing down the premise, and it was surprisingly lengthier than I expected, so I decided to share it. I hope you guys enjoy this little story with these two, and once I finish, I hope you enjoy the comic (Which is about halfway done,) starring these two! Bonus: Here's some sketches from the comic. Kinda rough to be honest, as most of these I ended up rushing due to trying to stay within the 24 hour limit.

Well, it's as it says on the tin, it was a test to see if the universes themselves were still worthy of existing. The Zen'Os lost faith in the mortals, and wanted to see if the mortals were still worthy of existence. That's meant to be the explanation. If you want the reason I think it's there, I personally think it's because they realised how many people will despise Zen'O from this point. Hell, they already got an idea of it after the atrociously awful ending to the Trunks arc, so it was likely thrown in as a last minute "we didn't reaaaaally want to erase the universes permanently" to stop everyone from hating them. Didn't do shit for me, though. They're both extremely irritating IMO.

    What If Sonic Died?

As part of a future game either classic or modern, it would be intriguing if instead of a traditional Game Over, there would be some type of temporary afterlife Zone, which with either style of graphics could be quite surreal and wonderfully dynamic; and when, perhaps, gathering 3 1-UPs from within a challenging enough (but scaled somehow) environment, the main game could be reaccessed at the zone one exited. I would hope that Continues would still be available, and, maybe they could even be found by passing through some of the more difficult areas in this realm/dimension. I think it could be a gift rather than a punishment even, to perhaps have some rare items that can only be accessed there and brought back into the main game, some that would differ per character; unique music and physics too!

    What If Sonic Died?

The game Tails Adventure is set before Tails met Sonic, and the boy toppled the Great Battle Kukku empire all by himself (and the help of his little robot buddy, of course). Later, in Sonic Adventure 2, when Tails thought Sonic was dead after Eggman launched him into space, did he freeze up or cower in fear? No, he fought against Eggman with all his might, and - if you were playing the Hero story - knocked him right out of his Egg Walker in righteous anger. I know Tails has grown a lot since meeting Sonic, and I'm certain Sonic's death would leave Tails in a pretty bad place. I don't dispute that at all. But I have to disagree with Forces' take that Tails would become a total mess beyond recovery if Sonic ever died.

    The Avatar and Signature Topic

I was feeling nostalgic, so I broke out an avatar I used around SSMB over ten years ago, from my favorite Sonic continuity, the Sonic X comic. Eggman's disguises were always a hoot! Signature is Eggman boxing, because seeing Eggman just punch his foes is great.

    Sonic X Reboot Topic

In a hypothetical Sonic X revival, I'd love to see them adapt elements from the comic series into a prospective new show; Dr. Eggman's penchant for disguises and general tomfoolery, his crush on Ella, and his newfound love of wrestling would all be welcome additions. The comics also spotlighted Decoe, Bocoe, and Bokkun and gave them a bit more focus in some stories - both in terms of their relationships with Eggman and just as characters in their own right. I also honestly liked Chris a little more in the comics? He seemed more independent and a little less clingy, and displayed a number of interests in things that had nothing to do with Sonic, which... I dunno, it made him feel like more of his own person and less like a bland audience surrogate. He wasn't amazing in the comics by any means, but I still kinda liked the direction they took him in when compared to the original anime. The comic series as a whole was a lot denser and wackier than the anime, so I'm not saying it should match it in tone one-for-one. I think combining the goofier elements of the comics with the more serious and grounded parts of the original show (which still had plenty of comedy in its own right, to be fair) could strike a nice balance. It'd be fun to see a series where Sonic and Eggman are legitimately having these epic battles with actual stakes and exciting action one week, and then the Doc's just comically trying to woo Chris's maid the next week: That show would be a great time.

Thought you all might like to see this. So, it turns out, the last request ever given to Sakurai by the great and late Iwata-San, was in fact a Smash Bros game for the Switch. Which really puts into perspective, the amount of love and time dedicated towards this game above and beyond.

I got a few more Archie panels to share: Aside from finally having his eyes separated, Sonic's decided to mimic Knuckles' dreadlocks, with diminishing returns. I don't know the context behind this line, and I don't think I want to. Also, Archie at this time was adamant on making Shadow's chest fur gold, for some reason. This was a mistake on every level, and mankind as a whole should be ashamed for letting this hellspawn manifest itself in a children's comic book.
