Can I just say I don't get why the Freedom Fighters being adapted into other media like the games or IDW is such a hot topic? I guess it's because to me I look at, say, Harley Quinn, who came from Bataman TAS and was later adapted into the comics and films or TMNT, where the 80's cartoon was effectively to the original comics what SatAM is to the Sonic games (albeit in opposite directions). Still, it was radically different in tone and style, yet many elements of the 80's show carried over into other iterations, like IDW and 2k12. In other franchises, characters from spinoff continuities often get re-imagined in subsequent iterations, and it's something to enjoy as a nod to a franchise's history in many forms. Yet with SatAM characters, so many people jump to the absolute worst conclusions or complain that because SatAM/Archie/etc aren't the "true" vision of the series, people should just get over it and that their adaptation into other Sonic media would be doomed from the start. The thing is, a LOT of Sonic characters are divisive to certain parts of the fandom. Amy, Shadow, Silver, Cream- series staples with devoted fans who also have huge detractors. That's not to say I expect this campaign to work, but for crying out loud- it is possible to reimagine old characters in a way that fits newer continuities. It just takes a little creativity. Mind you, I got into Sonic through SatAM, not the games. I have a very different background than most Sonic fans in that regard, and while I do like other continuities, too, this kinda discourse just sorta boggles the mind. You gotta understand that the Freedom Fighters, unlike, say, Dr. Zachary, are very long lasting characters. They lasted, what, almost two decades, if not slightly more than that due to Archie's lengthy run? That's a significant part of Sonic history, even if it's not everyone's favorite version of the franchise.

People are free to not like Sally or whoever, as I've read enough valid reasoning what people didn't like about past incarnations, but I'm getting pretty tired of discussion of these characters feeling like obstacle courses for fans of these characters to justify adding them to spin-off games and material like the comics. This isn't some hostile takeover of the mainline games, geez. It would be easier to just say you didn't like them and talk about that, instead of acting like you need to be convinced about them when it's obvious you won't be when "canon" is now the silver bullet. I get it; SatAM was too different from the games, or its development changed too many things (despite it forming from Sega of America's own internal bible). Archie had a particularly bad period in its history that apparently needs to be all the characters must always be judged by, regardless of later improvements or when the book was forcibly rebooted and brought up to code with the games. These characters were reworked in a way that paid respect to their past but also fit them just fine into the game world as we understood it at the time those storylines were published. There are valid critiques for those reworkings, I even have some of my own, but the point is it's possible and they can be reworked again. Does reworking them carry an inherent risk? Could it alienate older fans? Sure. Hell, some people didn't even like when Archie was rebooted because of that, and some of them didn't even lose something they did like from Archie's lawsuit with Ken Penders. But every time it's brought up how to rework them, the idea is dismissed because of that risk in spite of the old works being considered incompatible. I don't get it and it makes discussing them in this context impossible. If IDW got cancelled tomorrow in a similar nonchalant, "get the fuck over it" manner that Archie had, and Sega completely changed the way Sonic was moving forward that Tangle and Whisper were "incompatible" how many of you would be okay with that? Something tells me the story would be completely different. And I know this because I've seen arguments saying the FF don't deserve to come back just to gas up Sticks.* *While I emphasized Sticks's name because I genuinely don't care about the character, or like her home series, I get this comes across as a slight to Sticks fans. I couldn't think of a way to word it better and it sounded more like a joke in my head, but I honestly don't care if people wanted to argue in her favor when she has at least some official acknowledgement from Sonic Team going and I don't think it would take much to rework her. She just happens to be a the back of the line in terms of what I'd like to see getting attention in this series lol

I'm amused how someone can hate a character so much that they come to a thread talking about a fan effort to have them added to a shitty mobile game of all the innocuous things just to talk shit about the character and poo poo the effort.

It's not. But that's not actually what you're doing, and you're years too late for this argument to masquerade as such. Because "the vision of the actual creators" wasn't something that manifested itself in an irreconcilable way with what was being done in the West until after the 20+ year subseries had already been created. Because "the vision of the actual creators" doesn't inherently override all adaptations of a work that deviate from it, nor is the work they create inherently superior to derivative works. Because there was so little actual content produced by the time major adaptations started that any attempt to create derivative works would have had to deviate significantly regardless; nevermind when someone sat down and tried to make a somewhat serialized TV show. AoStH came out at the same time; and beyond superficial similarities to the first two games deviated from them just as far as SatAM did. Because it took until after Sonic 2 was a major success for the people working on the main series and the series itself to be treated as anything other than an ATM for Sega to withdraw money from. Because other than maybe FMA fans, no other fanbase seems to have this fundamental problem comprehending how some people don't prefer the "prime" universe of a work and instead prefer things done in derivative versions; so whenever something like this comes up can't help themselves but attack it from all angles and tell people that they shouldn't care about it. Because when the series was at its most popular and influential the material that SatAM was working from (and indeed, SatAM/Archie itself) was just as valid and official of an interpretation of the franchise as the stuff that was being put in the manuals to the games in Japan; and it wasn't until quite a few years later that the games as they were presented in America was changed to be the games as they were presented in Japan. Because not everyone is far up the game canon's ass that they parachute into a thread barely about it to completely dismiss people's preferences for a subseries to a major franchise that ran for over 20 years because of reasoning like how it was just "western localization tactics that change things out of fear of not connecting with the people of our culture" and was made by "people none too interested in the source material." Reasoning that was played out before probably half of the members on this forum were even born. No, it's like saying that you should believe Bad Box Art Megaman actually looked like a realistic pudgy man in spandex because he was present on the box of every Megaman game, his backstory was changed to something reflect that and that art style of him was used in countless amounts of merchandise and promotional material for years afterward. Except he wasn't, and Sonic's western interpretation was. The loose "SoA canon" concept that was adapted in varying amounts from the Sonic Bible (including by SatAM) was something that not only more directly made up much of the early marketing of the franchise in places where it actually sold well, but it was something that Sega of America even made (limp wristed, almost always nonsensical) attempts to tie into the games proper. Assface Sonic and the characterization his appearance conveyed (akin to the American Kirby is Hardcore running joke) was Sonic as far as the games were concerned in the west, and was an inherent influential piece of the series' presentation in the West that Bad Box Art Megaman never became beyond being a Capcom in-joke decades later. Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 had almost the exact same story; and beyond one definitely coming afterward had no connective tissue between them. Sonic 3 & Sonic and Knuckles were linked at the hip in both storylines they had and established that it was taking place after the events of Sonic 2 but was vague enough about the details that it's never been pegged down when Sonic CD happened; because Sonic CD had a story that was fleshed out and also used cutscenes but completely unrelated to what Naka was doing in the US at the time. When did this need for the importance for canon and lore come into play, if not for the game that explicitly cleaned everything up years later? It certainly wasn't Sonic 1 and Sonic 2. That's nice, but not everyone lived in Japan in the early 1990s. I consider it functionally a reboot and always have because it threw out nearly everything that had been said about the games outside of the SoJ canon, discarded major character traits that had been established outside of SoJ's influence (and changed one character even in Japan), substantially redesigned the the series aesthetic, explicitly separated itself from the various other continuities when the games outside of SoJ's influence hadn't bothered to do so and only committed to a broad strokes fitment of the things that happened in the games prior while retconning all of the western influence on those games stories out of existence. You can disagree and that's fine, but it was a throwaway line in a post so just ignore it if it bothers you so much. Consistency, huh? How many Chaos Emeralds were there? 6? 7? 13? 14? 20? How old are the characters? How does Amy find herself always knowing where Sonic is? But no. I'm not saying that people who prefer the Japanese canon are annoying. I'm saying that the people who prefer the game canon, and then use that as a springboard to insist that any of the other canons are inherently inferior mostly because they aren't the game canon, are annoying to me. To say that things that deviated from what the games were doing was automatically worse when was a shit argument in the late 2000s, when the game series was at its absolute nadir. It's a shit argument a decade later when you bring it up for why a character shouldn't even be allowed in a game designed to exchange fanservice for money. And on top of that, you're making that argument to apply retroactively to when said subseries was first created, when the game canon was practically non-existent and no one gave a shit about it. Sonic 1's Japanese manual is "Sonic went to South Island. Eggman was there trying to steal the chaos emeralds, an unmatched source of power. He trapped animals into robots to prevent Sonic from getting in his way." Sonic 2's Japanese manual was basically the same as Sonic 1's, except it's on a different island that depending on the translation implies has different chaos emeralds, there's a bit describing how Tails met Sonic and was fascinated by Sonic's plane and how cool Sonic was, and then Eggman torched the island. That's all there was when SatAM released of the immensely ingrained Japanese true canon lore source material that the creators of SatAM were wrong for deviating from when they made their TV show; and the writers of Archie were wrong for continuing with. You could just not use a thread like this to show that characters from an old series canon are living rent free in your head. While I don't agree with the reasoning he keeps insisting to be the case, I've in comparison got no problem with E-122-Psi saying that he thinks it's fine that they show up in this game but drawing a line in the sand from them appearing in IDW or the real games. Because that's exactly what you did. There was nothing else in your first post. This is a thread about a fan campaign on Twitter to have a character put in a game whose sole purpose is to get people to enjoy the fanservice so much that they give Sega money for it after Sega had already done it for another character in another comic. People have been drawing fanart of Sally for their cause, attempting to build camaraderie about her being added to the game that Tangle was and going out of their way to insist people are not disrespectful to anyone over the issue; even in the face of a fan push that is likely futile. You saw that and absolutely used it as a pretext to shit all over everything; to say that the characters shouldn't come back in any circumstance, that people should stop asking for them, that the universe they occupied was always deficient and that it should have in fact died out long before it did. You did so in a way that strongly suggests that it didn't actually matter what the thread was about beyond the fact that people were talking about Archie characters and that was your in to complain that people still like them, Which means you missed the point completely. No one should object to a fanservice addition to a glorified gacha game. It does not harm anyone for such a thing to happen; even if you want to argue that it would if we were talking about adding them to the regular games or the IDW comics. The fact that I keep saying it is an innocuous addition to a shitty spinoff is to reinforce that none of the people that crawl out of the woodwork to stiffen their lip about the game canon should give a shit about characters from other continuities appearing in it. It makes it all the more absurd that it bothers you this much that people have interest in it. And I think respect needs to be earned. The language you use to push a viewpoint is absolutely relevant to the point you're trying to make with it. Especially so when the point you're trying to make is only tangentially related to what was being discussed anyway. Speak for yourself. I'm just as content responding to your viewpoints based on the unnecessarily confrontational way you make them and the validity of the basis for your opinion as I am debating the merits of individual characters themselves.

I don't know what to tell you except that I think it is very basic. Eggman takes over the kingdom of Acorn, which has it's own history that the games can choose to delve into. . This history would be different from the comics by necessity but they can choose how much they take from it and how much they make up on their own. Eggman is usually after some kind of weapon or power source in the games so you can pull from the comics there or make up something new The core of the character is simple. A level headed but young and inexperienced monarch feels a great obligation to make things right for her people/family and has to team up with a personality that she doesn't gel with to do so. That's not just simple, it's been done in these games before. To great acclaim. The rest of them are her crew. A lot this is based on the idea that every FF needs their own campaign or something when that's not really the case. You can choose to what degree you dig into their history but preserving their personalities and dynamics would be easy and that's the actual important part. Some of them would get more shine than others but, again, that's literally always been the case with any extended cast in anything. I'm guessing one of the elephants in the room that you keep hinting at but never elaborate on is Robotization, and I wouldn't actually mind if they introduced it for a game and dropped it. There are ways to make it look like a natural fit for the Sega characters: and perhaps Eggman doesn't keep it because the effects aren't what he'd like them to be. Uncle Chuck was able to regain some free will in the American canon, so who's to say a game couldn't take that concept and run with it? What if Sonic was introduced to a group of bots he couldn't just smash through in conscience? What if appealing to their personal relationships had to be the goal? If this worked, Eggman would probably end up dropping it and going back to his old tactics. There's my pitch. Like it or not, it proves it can be done. Maybe they don't get this right, but you can say that for anything anyone suggests so it feels like a moot point.

Sonic goes to a new location, and there's all these new characters there that haven't been in a game before. Sonic professes to knowing them from sometime in the past ("Wow, long time no see guys!") since he wanders the planet but doesn't bother explaining because it doesn't actually matter. If that's just too insane to do, he doesn't even really have to do that since characters have been reintroduced in the series as never having met the main cast before. Sega can cut me the check any time. Like Amy's fortune telling and mysticism or Vector's strong Christian religious background. She was a straight man of the group who generally mostly had pretty major flaws holding them back; especially very early in the comic/SatAM. Hell, maybe Sega writing a game with them in it could actually make Sonic display the negative character traits he's supposed to have but has shown maybe twice in the past 20 years; but if that's too insane to do she could still maintain her relationship to the rest of the FF without imposing on Sonic's incorruptibly pure pureness. Sega can cut me a check for that too. So they could uh... not do that. But hey. SatAM was directly derived from the source material, with Sega of America's blessing. The all encompassing and important "canon" that overwrote it didn't exist until half a decade later.

    Archie Sonic Main Discussion

Archie Sonic the Hedgehog - Issue #80: If Wishes Were Acorns Despite most of my knowledge of Archie being stuff that happens so far ahead of this, experiencing a Sonic Adventure arc in this comic is going to feel very surreal and strange. Like, I already know Big the Cat is in Archie Sonic but seeing him on this cover is weird. We’re exiting the parts where this was just the concepts from SatAM and AoSth dominating it and I’m here for it. The book won’t necessarily get any better though. Things progressed very little this issue. This method of splitting things up into three short stories per issue is going to try my patience a little bit. The first story had the most meat to it, being the tale where Amy’s transformation hits (on the very first page, granted) and showing the heroes reach Station Square. The Knuckles story was a waste of time and the Big story began and then accelerated to the part where Gamma just takes him. I don’t want to believe this means that Gamma himself is going to be short-changed as far as his development goes but who knows? Maybe Penders doesn’t care about these non-echidna characters. It’s super obvious this book was NOT prepared to do a Sonic Adventure adaptation. They rendered humans completely irredeemable so mingling with them the usual way from the game was an impossibility. That’s kind of what happens when you render an entire species a completely merciless force of inhospitable monstrous behavior. Better make it a separate city, that’s underground, but also technologically modern but still somehow ancient. That’ll work just as well… Archie Sonic the Hedgehog - Issue #81: City of Dreams This cover had the potential to be better than what it is, mostly because of how good the colors are, but unfortunately, Knuckles’ weird, melty, derp face takes up so much of it. Also, for some reason, Gamma looks off. He looks like he’s got realistic organic eyes glued to his face. It’s honestly really unsettling. Also, is... Chaos in a form he shouldn't be in yet? It looks like the form he fought Knuckles in but that form doesn't appear in this issue and we're nowhere near that point in the story yet so... odd. This issue felt like even less happened. It was nice seeing the characters mingle with the locals and enjoy Station Square for a bit but there really wasn’t anything accomplished here aside from the set-up for Amy’s story there at the end. A lot has changed of course. There was no Twinkle Park and no alert to Sonic that she was taken. It just sort of happens immediately, just like how Gamma immediately snatched Froggy at the beginning of his story. Meanwhile, we keep checking in with Knuckles despite the fact that his story hasn’t advanced at all yet and for some reason there's a cat country here that’s been haphazardly made a part of the story that the Chaotix are a part of too because he needs them to be useless in the main book now that the Knuckles series has been cancelled. This is a pretty bumpy and unexciting road so far. Archie Sonic the Hedgehog - Issue #82: Night of Chaos This is actually a really nice cover. It's warped to look like we’re watching it through a puddle of water or something. Plus, the simplicity of what’s happening makes for a much more enticing set-up. It’s interesting that the Chaos fight is happening now when some of the other stories have reached a point far past this point in the game. In the game this was almost literally the first thing that happened, aside from Chaos breaking out of the Master Emerald in Knuckles’ story. Perhaps I’ve been too harsh here. It’s not like any of this was offensive in any way. I suppose at the end of the day, most of this was just nitpicking, Even the scene of Gamma ripping the cell door off, as funny as it was, there could be an argument made for it by someone who… didn’t see it that way. This was the best of the three issues I’ve read today though. It was also the most faithful to the games out of all of them. The Sonic one was almost beat for beat the same and the Gamma one’s differences were mostly in just the style of story-telling. The Knuckles one was different by virtue of having to fit it in with all of Penders’ nonsense but even that managed to stay pretty close. I’m still waiting on the significance of this cat country though. So far it seems like that element was brought in just so the Chaotix could do something and for the echidnas to have yet ANOTHER clan of people to be in conflict with. It’s astonishing how self-righteous these echidnas are when fucking everyone hates them. The Dingos, the Cat Country, the in-fighting with the Dark Legion are all examples of them just going to war. Then the Acorn Kingdom offers a hand in friendship and they reject it because they’re stupid. Then their island crashes in a manner that could have been stalled should they have accepted help and when Knuckles and Spectre point this out they get shot down by Locke and the other idiots because of tradition. Fuck em. Also, it was already tough getting over how things were being told out of order in comparison to the game but this comic is telling things out of order within its OWN narrative. Sonic fights Chaos in the first story and the next story is how Chaos got reformed when he extracted Froggy's tail? Then the last one has Amy in the cell with the bird because of the events that happened in a seperate Super Special which is also apparently going to tell a FUTURE story with Gamma alongside a story with Amy that already took place? I mean, my God. Order. Order in the book. Please.

I feel like it's a bit harsh to judge the game for that. It's the start of the game, after all. It's supposed to get you into the action in a flashy way and makes you feel satisfied with what plays out afterwards. I also wanna bring up something I discovered on twitter: So, yeah. The same thing happened in Spider-man ps4, yet no one gave a damn about it when it came out, but with avengers, people seem to be looking for anything to complain about because it's trendy. I wouldn't say it's fair to judge the game for that since no one would fail at it anyway. It's literally the first gameplay action and it's not that quick to get to the freezing point, but those are just my thoughts. It's such a minor nitpick that we could just ignore it, really.

No it wasn't. You should probably become more abreast of how much of a mess the series was before Sonic Team threw most of the stuff before Sonic Adventure out before you trot out these tired "The Official Sega of Japan True canon" arguments that people were already tired of when I joined this forum 17 years ago. SatAM was derived from concepts and ideas in SoA reference material that was created before the first game even released; and that material was just as official as anything else at the time was. It wasn't as closely related to them as other things that SoA was involved with for the franchise before SatAM/Archie released, but the derivation was still clear. Sonic Team in comparison made 4 games, two of which were directly related with actual storylines shown in-game (but were released after SatAM started), one of which was mostly related to those two with a couple paragraphs of story, then another one that was barely related and had a story basically two sentences long. Ohshima went off by himself and made his own game with a fairly fleshed out story to arguably the same extent as the final two Sonic Team games of the era, but which had fuck all to do with what Naka was doing (and was contemporaneous with SatAM regardless). Sega of Japan also had nobody studios that since haven't been around for 25 years make half a dozen random Sonic games on top of that. There was no one true complex canon until Sonic Team went back and established one eight years after the very first game came out, for a game that was practically a reboot itself. So you weren't the one who came in the thread talking about a fan effort to have them added to a shitty mobile game of all the innocuous things just to talk shit about the character and shit on the effort? You weren't the person so against the idea of them being added, even to a shitty mobile game of all the innocuous things, that you needed to label them as "generic 90's Don Bluth wannabe cast filler furries" to get your point across? You weren't the one who dismissed a 20+ year-long official sub-series because it was derived from "an american cartoon made by people none too interested in the source material" that basically amounted to ten fucking sentences printed in Japanese game manuals by 1993? My mistake. This stuff sounds an awful lot like you treading back to "But Sonic Team could screw it up" as a reason why no one should want anything ever. Those two things I listed were literally the entire reason that those two characters debuted in their respective games. Because there's very little of her INTRINSIC, IMPORTANT LORE that was even in the comics post-reboot to begin with, so it's already been done once and people already liked those characters after it happened.

I keep getting people begging me to promote this. I keep ignoring the requests. Basically, aside from a few pieces of drama that I've seen from some people involved with this which I don't want to touch at all... I just don't care about this campaign. The main core fanbase for Archie comics is a subset of American Sonic fans, Comic Sally is a subset of that, outside of the US I don't think it's a stretch to say that most fans of Sally are the result of the TV Show SatAM and now Archie comic Sally, to a lesser extreme those who are curious about Sega World Sydney. It'd be like Fleetway fans trying to get Shrotfuse or the evil Super Sonic into a mobile game, great for fans of Fleetway in Europe and the 1 or two who live outside the EU, for everyone else it'll be a case of *Shrugs* "Ok" or *Shrugs* "Why?" This whole thing kicked off due to Tangle and Whisper getting more attention but... Yeah I don't blame them for including them, it was a great move, aside from the fact IDW is much easier to get worldwide, they've proven to be really popular characters, I don't even read IDW comics but I know roughly what Tangle and Whisper look and act like... Yet if someone asked me to name those new IDW Sonic villains it'd take me a few seconds just to think of their name, as for characterisation... Ain't got a clue, they're just that forgettable. So my thoughts is, aside from adding Sally to make a few genuine fans go "OMG NO WAY!" and a large bulk of people going "OMG NO WAY" to get easy supporting points. I honestly think that for the bulk of people who play the game there's probably going to be more question marks over who that character is vs the IDW main stars. And this isn't an attack on Archie or whatever characters are going to be the next campaign, if it were Fleetway comics for as much as I love those, outside of me going "OMG NO WAY!" I'd probably then think 'wait... other than me and the UK fans... who else is gonna get the hype for this?' Edit: Talking about 'The Appeal' of this. You can actually see this in real time right now if you look. Tweet search #RallyForSally or "Rally4Sally" or any of the other 'official' hashtags from the main campaign account. You'll see that for the last week the vast majority of posts about this come from the same 3 or 4 accounts, and the main campaign for this is also pulling quite low numbers =/ Even this topic had to rely on a misleading OP and a very misleading claim a few posts in, it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence if that's what it's currently doing.

Not wanting Sonic to be chained to a nagging wife archetype is a valid enough concern but the character you're describing sounds a lot more like modern Tails than it does Ian's take on Sally. The only times the series got close to the nagging wife archetype you're describing is Tails busting Sonic's balls in Colors and Lost World without really having to deal with any heat or forced to have any introspection in return. All the while he covers most bases of exposition with his tablet and can do things like get out of being captured on his own so no other characters even need to show up. The Freedom Fighters at least relied on eachother in contrast with Sally often leading charges and planning strategies around everybody participating. Tails in his modern iteration invalidates the need for Sonic to have any support or foils because he's doing it all. Sonic and Sally found a natural rhythm when it came to working together long before post reboot anyway and didn't run into a ton of actual drama. I think she's a good foil in the sense that they balance eachohter out and have some fun interactions. It's not always about who's keeping Sonic in check. Like...when did this ever happen in a newer Sonic game? What?

So...this is just some bit to get Sally in a mobile game? It'd be neat, but why strive small? Pointless rallies gotta aim big.

I think it's wild how there hasn't been a single good anime since Nichijou aired nine years ago

I adore the way the way this game looks, sounds, and even controls (well, controlled before the whole third person shooter layout started getting enforced), so it makes me sad that the level design still didn't improve from being so obtuse and frustrating even after the big overhaul.

I really don't see how it's invalid to consider the vision of the series' actual creators over western localization marketing tactics that change things out of fear of not connecting with the people of our culture. It's like saying I should believe MegaMan actually looks like a realistic pudgy many in spandex cuz that's what the box had. To say Japanese Sonic lore didnt exists until Adventure is just plain incorrect, Sega just decided they were tired of the divide by that point. Each classic game's JP manual is filled with more detail than it reasonably needs, they even had a whole story bible on their own just like the american version. I fail to see Adventure as a reboot as it's one of the only modern games to entirely build on things that were established before it, even with Naka explaining why they're with humans is simply because they just went over there. To deny all that just cause, what? People who prefer a Japanese consistency are annoying to you? That isn't really good form. I'm really gonna need you to cool your jets. The thread is about the desire and ambition for Sally to be added to a game. A thread in a forum is a place to discuss your opinions, both agreeing and not. Saying you don't agree with the desire and laying out your exact feelings towards the characters to explain why couldn't possibly be a more fitting response. The only other option is to just be excited about the project. I even specified at the beginning of my initial post that I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by thinking this way. At that point, you seeing me as some kinda ruffian storming in here to shit on and demean an effort (which you've demeaned far more than me by calling it innocuous and meant for a "shitty game" 3 times verbatim) makes it look like you're merely having an exaggerated emotional response to me having a certain belief about a children's series. I think you should have a little more respect towards different opinions, it isnt fair to paint some crazy picture of a person because you don't agree with them or their language was too brash or something. I'd be more than glad to go back n' forth about why Sally is or isnt a good character in our opinions, but pointing fingers over the very nature of having a certain opinion or how you express it is just a waste of both of our time.

Fair enough, although probably still means they're all brainwashed by Brainiac, which is something Injustice 2 did a few years ago.

The SatAM characters are really simple. Anything remotely too complex to implement was in the pre-reboot comics...and even then I can't think of much Penders nonsense surrounding them compared to, say, Knuckles--at most there's, what, some weird destiny shit with the Acorn family? Most of the actually stupid baggage with Archie's old continuity was centered on the game characters, or some of the new ones Penders and co. came up with. The most "out there" characters among the FF are Nicole and Bunnie, and they even have something vaguely resembling backstories (a humongous hurdle that among the games' cast only Shadow has crossed), but they're pretty easy to sum up and I don't think the concepts would feel that out of place in a series that has always just done whatever fits that particular game. Anyway that's all to say I do agree I don't really care about alternate continuity characters being added to the games, at least outside of side games. I'd like to see more of that...and ideally not just in mobile games designed to squeeze money out of you.

Because it doesn't really help, and because a lot of them just want them to get the basic core unified and running smoothly rather than adding more complications to the mixture. Not to say they couldn't do that AND add the Freedom Fighters but people have a right to be skeptical because they're connected to a lot of the most convoluted and polarising parts of the franchise. I will admit to liking some divergent takes like Boom Knuckles but the thing is that those are the adaptations, not the main works. See how many accept Knuckles acting the same way in the official games.

I'm so conflicted with this. To get the negatives out of the way, I am greatly disappointed at this being another GaaS game. The moment I saw that enemies had levels to them, my heart just sank. They seem to have completely changed the combat gameplay I loved from the Arkham games. Now, doing well in this game will be less about reflexes, reading the environment and enemy patterns, and accurately executing on combos, and more about how much you've grinned out for a higher level. Imo, after what I played of the Avengers game last night (I'll post about that later), that's stupid. Enemy difficulty being directly tied to how much damage it can take needs to die off. Not everything needs to be some rpg mechanic. Completely destroys any sense of a well made action boss or even generic enemies for that matter. Hell, I couldn't even help but laugh at how they decided to show off Mr. Freeze here as their introduction to the new system. Like really, your first step into the wild with this damage sponge bs is with the character who had one of the best boss fights in the entire series? Specifically due to its in-depth ties to the actual game system? Lol Anyways, with that being said, literally everything else about this was cool af to me. I love the new looking Gotham (also looks like we're finally getting actual civilian npcs this time around), the overall art style, the entire main bat family being here, the gd batcycles, and the story premise which seems to be half Arkham Knight sequel and half new canon which I can honestly get down with. And hell, while I still greatly prefer the original Arkham style compared to what we've seen, what's here didn't really look bad on its own standings. Inferior as hell for sure imo, but still something I can see myself finding some enjoyment in. It's simply a more standard beat-em-up now. You can still seemingly pull off some sweet take downs so it's not all for not. So yeah... thanks to what the industry really is nowadays, I can't really say that I'm hyped for this. Though, I am cautiously interested at least. I love me some batman games and this does seem to be hitting a fair amount of marks so far.

Excuse me, what After what happened to Ryan, I thought the game had actually crashed or that it was a loading bug or something. Not that the game literally stops occurring until you press the correct button prompt. It's like those 90s Myst ripoffs that do a 30 second animation to move you throughout the level after you push a button.

Sonic Adventure - Open Your Heart ft. Cisconic & EkoNeo (88% complete) Moving along with the editing, I took care of the hardest and lengthiest clips first, get the tough ones out of the way to make this whole thing flow a little more smoothly. Those of you who have me on Discord, or can see me on Discord, will notice I've got a countdown going in my status, how many clips I have left to edit (currently 36). There will only be a finalization process after that, and then I'll be ready to post it! I wanted to show you guys something, Eko and Cisco have been working on a few things together while I continue this project. They did the Infinite theme from Sonic Forces together recently, and it would be super awesome if you guys could show them support as well. I'm hoping to have Open Your Heart done in the next few weeks, so I'll be on it. Stay tuned!
