The story is about Sonic underestimating Cream and realizing she's more capable than he thought. I don't really see the issue here.

Chauvin was just convicted on all three counts he was charged with. 2nd degree murder, 3rd degree murder and manslaughter.

I doubt this is ending in any trilogy if the films prove successful. If Transformers is anything to go by, Paramount will keep pushing until the end of time.
  6. 4 points
Maybe, but honestly she is probably the only main character in the franchise who's chances of showing up aren't hurt by the addition of other main characters. Amy is in the unique position of being able to be brought into a story without any additional backstory or lore baggage. You can introduce Amy and have her develop in her screen time without having to stop the flow of the script by retelling past events or delving into her personal history. She can move forward right from the jump. You don't need any of that to establish who she is, and what she is going to be about. Unlike Knuckles, who as one of the more heavy lore characters in the series, would have to have a chunk of screentime devoted to explaining his job as guardian, what happened to the echidna tribe, ect. Amy can just pop up and go from there, start establishing a rapport without derailing the movie. Even Tails brings baggage, as at the very least we have to go backwards to figure out why he is looking for Sonic / how he knows of him, and whatever bag of worms that opens *cough*Longclaw*cough*

OMG Sonic Advance 2 has been aknownledged!!!!11!1!11 It's like... the third time in total, the first was a song in Sonic Generations, the second was Ice Paradise in IDW (only mentioned), and now they have finally shown Music Plant. I also read the story and I think there's nothing wrong with it honestly, I liked it. EDIT: The story is nice and all, but in my headcanon the artwork represents the moment when Cream was replaced by Omochao in Team Sonic Racing.

People really are pushing for Shadow to show up, or at least anticipating him. Boy, I hope Paramount doesn't go that route so soon. Even now you can see what a damn black hole (pun not intended) he is in the Sonic fanbase. Even as a stinger I'd rather wait until a potential fourth movie then just having him smacked into the third movie. Give some time for Amy and others to join in before he eventually swallows the plot.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Movie Megathread

I have to agree with a lot of others, Knuckles looks absolutely fantastic design wise, but I do hope we get the white dash on his stomach in the final product. Also hope we get a voice actor for him that really delivers. I can understand some worries with cramming in too many plot elements, such as both Tails and Knuckles in one film, but I still feel it can work if they do it right. If Knuckles is working for Eggman, and Tails is building his relationship with Sonic for a majority of the film, I think Knuckles realizing he is being duped and that Sonic/Tails are really the people he should ally himself with could work in the endgame. It probably can't be the very finale for when Sonic decides to befriend Knuckles, because of what the Echidna's did to Longclaw, but I think it could work to have them all three team up in the end. Maybe they don't really even become friends, just decide to team up because they know Eggman is up to no good temporarily. Really interested to see how the Sonic/Knuckles relationship happens because even in the games it really wasn't this personal between the two. It could actually be pretty well done, considering both of them could be the last of their species as well as Knuckles Tribe possibly killing Sonic's parental figure. I do think combining elements of Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 isn't a bad idea for a single film. We get two of Sonic's most famous friends in one film, and we get to see Team Sonic interact on the big screen. It's not like Sonic 2 and 3 couldn't fit together if it's done well enough. I think G.U.N. will mostly be there just for worldbuilding, and I doubt we'll get any tease of Shadow like some have said. I wouldn't be against it, but I see Metal Sonic before Shadow. The quill that Eggman has of Sonic from the first film could absolutely lead up to Metal Sonic. It powered up Eggman's flying hovercraft or whatever it's called, so using it to create a Sonic that Eggman could control doesn't seem that far fetched. I could see it being a teaser for what's to come in the next film. I think Knuckles will be the antagonistic force in this film with Eggman though.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Movie Megathread

All the behind the scenes of filming have me interested in what's occuring. Tails is definitely playing a major role with this, and I can't wait to see how that pans out. For Knuckles, I'm guessing he was exiled to the mushroom world for (what else) his gullibility. Rather than being guardian of the Master Emerald (if such is a thing in this universe), he's just a part of a tribe that he never felt a part of, they eventually disowned him, and then in the mushroom world, he thinks he's got a friend in Robotnik until he finds out exactly what Robotnik is planning upon returning to Green Hills. No matter what happens, though, I have a feeling this'll be as good as the first.

There is certainly a lot of action, it seems, including chases and fight scenes, I like it! Obviously there will be more emotions and heartwarming moments, I don't doubt that. Hopefully it's another balanced movie, but with a bit more action perhaps. About Knuckles... I don't think this was that big of a secret or spoiler, was it? It was reported a lot of times, now just 100% confirmed, those who don't follow bts or aren't Sonic fans will likely not know until they watch the trailer or watch the actual movie. Although Sonic fans... yes, they were spoiled the surprise already, because it's been reported by Tails Channel and TSS, and even DiscussingFilm. But as I said, I really doubt it's a surprise within the movie, I think Knuckles will feature largely as a rival and then ally with Sonic at the end, there will be other major spoilers and this is definitely not one of them. The design: really really good and balanced, it's bulky but not too much, these designs like Sonic's blue arms and Knuckles' bulk are definitely a bit inspired by Boom but just less drastic changes, more balanced, as I said. The nike symbol will probably be fur as CGI, not worried about that. What I didn't like about Boom Knuckles design was not so much the bulkyness but the dumb face and attitude, that I hope they fix here, that they write him better than in Boom. So, with all this filming, I'm trying to guess the plot for the movie, spoiler tag in case people want the surprise:

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Movie Megathread

I'm betting this will be at the end of the movie. It looks like they're filming the final battle and it's so far the first Jim Carrey appearance we've seen. It's possible that he'll trick Knuckles (maybe his whole tribe if they're still alive at this point) and this will be after he realizes he was tricked. I doubt we'll get into Team Sonic being best friends if anything Knuckles uneasy alliance will carry over onto the next movie as well. I'm still betting on Shadow for the next one.
  14. 3 points
If that's the real deal, it's a good look for him. He's a bit big maybe, but you can glean a lot from his character from the design. I like it.

It’s so frustrating seeing people acting like racism is over just because Chauvin was convicted. Police brutality and systemic racism has been a problem long before George Floyd and will be a problem long after unless something is done about it. That said, I’m glad that justice has been served for once.

Aww, so cute. Only I think this pic looks memetic? The way Sonic seems to talk down to annoyed kid. Put Words "Sega" and "Fandom" above their heads and you can make any joke. "Mobius is no longer name of the planet, but we're not giving you new one, okay?." "We're would let Sonic friends to anything in Forces, but we had to make room for Classsic Sonic." "I know this is 30th anniversary, but we're still not announcing any games, movie and cartoon comes later and IDW is delaying again." "Still no Shadow in this calendar. But look on the bright side, he'll probably be a jerk anyway."

Pretty sure the Capcom Unity post says you can toggle it on and off when you want. It's neat that the Great Ace Attorney is finally getting a proper localisation, but I'm not personally super invested into that particular sub-series myself, although I'll still be picking up Chronicles to support and try them out. I'm more excited for what these collections could mean for the future. We already know from the leaks earlier this year that if Great Ace Attorney does well, they're gonna port Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice to consoles as well - which would be the vastly superior way of playing them IMO. Still really hoping we might finally see a Edgeworth collection with Investigations 2 localised as well. People will probably say it'll never happen, but then we also thought Great Ace Attorney would never see a localisation either, especially with the rights issues presented in those games, and yet here we are.

I don't mind if it is the final design. He looks bulky enough to tell he's a strong character, but not to the extent of Boom Knuckles. Wouldn't mind if game Knuckles looked like that. If only he had a hat..

I don't mind Mephiles as a character but creating merch of him made me remember things. Like how his plan made no sense. Why not fuse with past Iblis or future Iblis? Counter point - Since the Mephiles that was free is most likely from the present, he could only fuse with the present Iblis? How'd Mephiles gather the seven Chaos Emeralds? Elise was gonna canonically die when the Egg Carrier crashed and killed her. Counter point - Maybe he didn't have time to do that since Sonic went back in time to stop it? Counter, counter point - But when Silver went Back to the Future, Iblis was still free and doing his thing. Counter, counter, counter point - ...Time travel? Why didn't he kill Sonic to begin with? Counter point - Plot armour? Also just realised that Tails took Sonics actual death better than he does with Sonics supposed death.

When saying "based on SatAM" it's moreso intended as "as opposed to Archie". IE, "SatAM is the starting point"- doesn't mean many changes can't be made (and in fact would have to be), just that it's all got to either be new or rooted in SatAM, nothing from Archie.

    Sonic 30th predictions

Usually when it comes to leakers, it's that they know people closely associated with the company they are leaking from. However, they don't reveal specifics about who shared the info with them so that means whenever a "leaker" says something you have to take them on their word that they are saying the truth. Or just say they are lying or just good guessing.

Archie Sonic the Hedgehog - Issue #159: System Reboot This cover, when I first saw it out of context, both excited and confused me. I know the context now and it just makes me roll my eyes but at the time I did wonder if there were a bunch of mass produced Neo Metal Sonics in a Sonic story out there somewhere and I was missing something good. These covers are also extremely deceptive with how well drawn they are. Looking at them, you wouldn’t know that they look like ass inside. Good thing we’re one issue away where the cover art will no longer be this blatant in its deceptive advertising. That’s a cute little “Go Team” logo there. Anyway, the big thing to talk about here is the fact that this is the last issue that Ken Penders is going to lead for us. After this, Ian Flynn’s extremely lucky big break will have gone through thanks to the editor looking for a chance to spice things up and being willing (and crazy enough) to take chances. It paid off in ways I wouldn’t even know how grateful I would be at the time but that’s another thing to go into. Right now, we’ve got a swan ugly duckling song for Ken Penders to get to. With that story over, it’s time to look into the “What could have been” concerning Ken Penders and his weird, gross, awful shit. Oh boy! Ken Penders’ Unused Story Ideas So, surprising no one, Ken had some things that “sadly” had to be left on the cutting room floor when someone who wasn’t insane and obsessed with Nazis came in to take his place. I’m going to cover almost all of the ones I could find due to how much they interest me personally because of how much they speak to the inner workings of this weird alien man. I’m also going to touch upon things that he wanted to do before he left as well, so prepare to take a trip down memory lane of stories that we’ve already covered too. That truly is it. I gave my thoughts on Ken Penders’ last issue as well as my thoughts on all the stupid shit he was going to do if he continued from 160 onward. Thus, I have closed the book on not only all the Archie Sonic comics I have never read before but the ones I DID previously read from #142 to #159 and never had the full context for. I can officially say that I’ve read all the stuff from before #160 now, including all the mini-series’ and the Super Specials. I will never do this again and I would not recommend it to anyone else either. I’m immensely proud of myself for having done it, sure, but when all's said and done, if I hadn’t been doing this retrospective for you all to see my thoughts there would have been almost no point to it other than recontextualizing what my thoughts and feelings on future stories were going to be. Granted, an argument can be made for the merit behind that as well. In fact, I feel excellent knowing that I’m going into the Ian run with new information regarding these characters so that I can fully understand where they came from and how much better they’re going to be. So, I guess it WAS worth it but it still feels weird to say considering all the intense amount of bullshit I had to put up with. If it wasn’t offensive, it was boring. If it wasn’t boring, it was lazy. If it wasn’t lazy, it was busy being ugly and hard to look at on top of being really horrendously, badly written from top to bottom. Every once in a while I’d find a good story to latch onto but it was way fewer and far between then I should have been for a book that had lasted #159 issues and some change up to that point. It wasn’t just Ken Penders of course. Our boy, Karl Bollers was a bit of a godsend in the sense that he did offer a comfortable amount of normalcy from time to time. He definitely was not perfect. There were a lot of his stories that were garbage as well and I doubt creating a fake name to gauge whether or not his criticism was warranted garnered any meaningful results. Still, I have to thank the man for being there to keep my sanity in check regardless. I don’t know the extent to which his stories were meddled with on Ken Penders end but I can’t imagine it was a comfortable relationship seeing as how we’re all well aware of Penders and his need to be in control of everything he “creates” for a book he doesn’t own. Then there’s the other assorted writers like the hard to get a handle on, Romy Chacon. Or the old as dust and painfully unfunny Mike Gallagher. Gallagher still has something to contribute later but it's Gallagher so odds are it’ll be something that feels like it belongs in the funnies section of an old newspaper. I don’t know about Romy but we’ll see. Oh shit. This is also Ron Lim’s last book as penciler too. Thank Christ. Blue skies ahead from here on in, give or take a few rainy days, but we’ll get there when we get there. Right now, I’m just unbelievably happy and relieved. Now and then. My head starts to spin. But I’ll never turn back. Again. Archie Sonic the Hedgehog - Issue #160: Birthday Bash! Part 1: Giving and Receiving CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES! COME ON! It's been a long, rough road but I’m finally here. I moved an inch forward; felt like a year… although it was literally, actually, more than a year at this point. Either way, we’ve made it. I’ve cleaned the raw, disgusting, sludge off of my body and I’m ready to dive into my original starting point involving these comics with Issue #160. Hello old friend. It’s been a long time. I can’t possibly explain in words how excited I am to re-read this stuff WITH the knowledge and context of what came before fully in mind. Enough blab. Let’s do this! I’ve typed entirely too much about this so I’ll wrap up by saying that I’m really happy. There’s still going to be loads of things to critique and pick a part but I’m happy I get to finally read something with a standard of quality now. There are still some things left to take care of in the transitioning phase of course. There are people still on the book that will slowly be fazed out as well as concepts and ideas that are going to be given a more graceful death then they probably deserve (and some an ungraceful death that they totally deserve) but as of right now, I’m just glad to finally be here. The first story was a lot of fun and did it’s job as a celebration of the new area well. The second story didn’t make me want to jump in a lake like most of the second stories used to, which is good. I’m really not a fan of the way it’s drawn but I don’t recall seeing too much that looks quite like it in the future so I’m not going to harp on it too much. All in all, a fun time was had by all. Sonic X - Issue #29: Green-Eyed Monster, Part 2 This is a really funky looking cover. If you were to show this to any random Sonic fan unfamiliar with these comics they’d probably do a double and then a triple take at it before tilting their head. I really love the way that city looks. The red sky in the back with the city reflecting off the water and the blearing red line acting as the intersection looks really awesome. I hope it lives up to the hype. That issue was actually a ton of fun. I do think it’s a little less good than I remember it, most likely because back when I originally read these, I was going from one issue to another in quick succession. This story works way better as something you read through all the way rather than a week or a month a part. It helps sell the chaos of the situation better when your mind is on a train going from point A to B where everything’s going haywire and getting worse and worse before the big finale. The issues tend to suffer a bit on their own but together they work really well.

Same. I never paid attention to the credits (hell I'm an idiot and though Tracy was the games artist when I first saw his work) but after awhile I started to actually read the credits and noticed the change. I'll admit I might be a bit of a shill for Ian at times but it's because I legitimately think his work is that good. Though it is ironic because if I was to recommend any of his work I would go for Mega Man or New Crusaders or his various TMNT contributions before Sonic because again those are projects where he clearly had more freedom especially Crusaders and TMNT so they're way better examples of his skill IMHO.
  48. 1 point
Unless IDW comics stated this information themselves or someone working for IDW comics had stated this information, then I don't think that this leak is true. Unfortunately, there's been a lot of leaks about Sonic lately that could or could not be true. I just wish that SEGA confirmed that something is happening with the franchise right now just so these possible false leaks would stop popping up.
  49. 1 point
Wow. This is fake as shit. Now Heese doing music could be a mistake and he meant Tee Lopes but there's just so much wish fulfillment going on here. Upscaled Classic Sonic with the Michael Jackson Sonic 3 music restored and remixed tunes by Tee Lopes, A New Sonic Game developed by Dimps (a company Sega hasn't worked with since like Unleashed on Wii) set in the IDW universe with a playable Shadow, The Freedom Fighters coming to IDW and Battle/Dash, Rally4Sally actually working. This all just screams fake to me.
  50. 1 point
It was anticlimactic, but that was likely due to the shitty interruption that was World’s Unite crossover forcing them to rush the whole thing. At the very least it was a decent closing end before the series was cancelled, but I can only wonder what the original plan was before the crossover.
