If Flynns not gonna write Shadow anymore then I wholly support him. It's what I would do in his situation: just let Sosukebosuke be a grinch in his own little corner of the world while writing the actually interesting stuff with characters that I don't have to pull Matrix stunts to be able to write decently.
3 to 4 years of dev time, no new game engine to work on, potentially lots of new blood through the merging of the Valkyria Chronicles/Sakura Wars team into CS2 - there's a lot of promising stuff out there for the next Sonic game, and I can't wait to see it, no matter how it'll turn out.
You know what, to give Sega the benefit of the doubt. I get it, I really fucking do.
It's difficult as fucking hell to maintain consistency in a franchise that's three decades old at this point. Staff changes, and new generations of fans jump into the series with different expectations.
All of these stupid changes are probably just extremely misguided attempts at addressing the issues people have been complaining about the most.
They're not the only company who has had to deal with this sort of thing, and I can guarantee that it's going to get worse before it gets better.
