  • Sonic Adventure 2 Battle Tops Gamecube Sales Chart in US

It sounds like Amazon helped give us some clues as to the popularity of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, because the official sales charts are in and according to SEGA of America, the blue blur's latest game is currently the best-selling title on the Nintendo Gamecube.

The port of the Dreamcast swansong sold 70,000 units in the past week on sale in the US, selling five times more than the second-best selling game on the Nintendo Gamecube-specific chart and as much as the next twelve titles combined, says SEGA of America.

Quote time! "The strong sales numbers off the mark for 'Sonic Adventure 2 Battle' for Nintendo GameCube are a true testament to the star power of our legendary mascot, Sonic The Hedgehog, and to the strength of Sega as a third-party developer and publisher," said Peter Moore, president and COO, Sega of America. "With a 40-year heritage of incredible content and franchises, Sega's goal is to compete for the position of leading global publisher of interactive entertainment."

A great start to the game's performance, hopefully this is replicated in the UK and Europe.
