Wolfy got a reaction from Monkey Destruction Switch in Pokemon Sun/Moon PLUS ULTRA (Alola Region Games)
I'm not concerned about the Ash-Greninja thing, and even willing to bet it's not obtainable without the demo. This serves as a work around from maybe being "canon" as the demo is possibly an non-canon aspect of Sun and Moon that you can transfer in as just easter-eggy stuffs? Total speculation but I think it's a fun add on anyway, and to be frank I wish instead of mega evolutions we had something more in-line with how Ash Greninja works. Something about having to defeat a Pokemon to bond into a cool form would be way more interesting than just pressing a button that takes a fifth or your touch screen. It won't happen but it'd be neat if some Pokemon got this bond ability that don't yet have a mega evolution to mix things up a bit *shrugs*.
Anyway, the starters are cool and am opening up to them a lot more now. I wasn't really a fan of any of them when first revealed but seeing their second incarnation are making them a little more interesting to me. The thing is I'm not really sure which one I want since they all seem pretty even to me haha.

Rumor has it it's going to be Scizor or Empoleon. I hope for scizor- as my inner 12 year old would be so mega chuffed to be able to play as Scizor in a fighting game

Leaving this pinned as replacement to another topic that was held as an example of what not to make in regards to yet another dumb SA3 topic. Too often they pop up and they're usually the same things, as well as 'cause a lot of arguments and drama. So no Sonic Adventure 3 topics please. Thanks.

Uh I guess I got the "Advocate" INFJ-A personality type which I guess only makes up 1% of the world population? Took it multiple times and got it each time and it's kinda weirding me out lmao.
In contrast though my favorite character is boringly enough just Sonic the Hedgehog lmao. His design is still one of the most perfect icons created, the cheesy mother fucker is super endearing, and I just simply like how simple yet effective of a character he is. I also have a weird thing for ironically-not ironically liking things that are forced in "cool factor."
If I had to choose a second though since he's so close it would be Metal Sonic in a heart beat. There's something great about a rival who's sole purpose in life is to be better than the thing he was built after. He also arguably has the coolest design throughout the entire series in terms of just straight up aesthetics, movement, and ability.

I'm pretty happy with Lycanroc other than it's abilities which are really boring in comparison to the other Pokemon this gen. Seems like almost all new Pokemon this gen get a brand new ability while Lycanroc gets some pretty boring ones. I was super hoping for Midnight form to at least get the new ability but oh well.
Also on the complaints about both being pure rock, I couldn't be happier. If Midnight had fighting or dark it would've stacked up it's weakness even more so. I just hope it's stats match up with it's pokedex description since it seems to be built around anticipating attacks to counter, therefor it better have some good physical defense and HP to back it up. This is where I was hoping it would have some sort of special ability or move even, like a unique counter move that dishes back the "super effective" if Lycanroc is hit with one of it's weakness. Or maybe even an ability like sturdy or something new to play into it's counter-based play.
Pretty torn on getting sun or moon now tbh, I like them both too much haha

Well, if Wereruff has the ability sturdy (or if you give the little guy a focus sash) then he becomes quite the terrifying threat when he's carrying Counter. If you want to hit him for that 4x fighting witness, practically any fighting move outside of aura sphere runs the risk of him surviving it and OHKO-ing with counter. Then, he'll probably have the speed to mess with whoever you throw out next.
In a competitive sense, counter makes him an appealing choice in the meta, because it would be a huge gamble to use his weakness against him. He doesn't even have to carry counter. Just the fact that he could have it will be enough to make people think twice about hitting him with a fighting type attack. His biggest weakness becomes his biggest strength. He'll eat fighting types alive - and if someone wants to switch instead of dealing with that guessing game, then guess who gets a free turn to set up stealth rock.
It'll be interesting to see his stats. Needless to say, if he's a burner than he could be pretty good.
EDIT: Come to think of it, any physical sweeper not carrying a backup special attack will be terrified of this guy. the Garchomp's and Haxorus's of the world will tremble and fall.
Accelrock sounds like the kind of move that can cement the DayRuff's nice little niche.

    Well
I'm in love, that's pretty much all I can say lmao.
And I guess there's a part of me that wants to believe that each form might evolve a step further, but I'm not really holding my breath on that. They look awesome and fine as is, but idk, there's some "incomplete" about their design; they kinda look like an "ivysaur" stage if you will. Anyway I'm super curious about their stats and am just crossing my fingers it's not this no-man's land stat ala Mightyena or something. I hope this thing is the fastest rock type to date and gets some love in competitive for stealth rock setter or something (assuming it will learn it anyway). Also day form's Accelrock sounds interesting and hope it's a viable move. Kinda weirded out that serebii noted the midnight form just having "counter," as if that's special or something lmao. Another thing is I hope they're both vastly different enough to use both of them since I'm pathetic. Lastly, I really do hope each get their respective morning sun/moonlight for heals.
These are some good puppers though and are quickly becoming my favorite Pogeys ever haha. Now just hopefully they get some badass abilities to seal the deal.

The Rockruff evolution has been my main hype out of any of these new Pokemon. I've been waiting since Gen 3 for a cool werewolf Pokemon and it looks like all the leaks are pointing to finally having one <3. TBH if those leaks of the starters are true...I might just pick one randomly and box it and use Rockruff as a starter instead since I'm not really too fond of them so far (sadly).
Also it's kinda crazy that we have 48 new Pokemon revealed so far, 49 if you count the Cutiefly evo in that new trailer from today. Add 10 Alohan Kanto Pokemon to that and the UB-01 and we have 60 fucking new creatures. That's pretty astonishing to me for them to have so many revealed before launch. Here's to hoping there's a full 150ish Pokedex of brand new Pokemon not counting the Alohan forms. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if all the Alohan forms are from Kanto like that one leaked suggested. With having Oak's cousin in the game now and whatnot, I'm kinda thinking Aloha, while based on Hawaii, is probably pretty close to the Kanto region. I'd kinda love to have some Gen 5 Alohan forms too if we're getting the US "other side" rep in there too, but with Gen 5 being more NY bound, probably not.
That's me blabbering away in hype anyway. So far I'm really impressed with Sun and Moon and it's shaping up to look like my new favorite Pokemon game. Honestly since BW2 Gamefreak has been doing a stellar job of raising the bar for me in terms of my favorite Pokemon game haha. Lets just see if this trumps my love for Alpha Sapphire.

Not going to lie, I had to back up the video twice to try and understand if Type: Null was actually the name of the Pokemon, or if it was actually nameless and presented a new typing called "null" specifically for this Pokemon. I was actually really hoping for the latter since I think it would've made the whole thing even more unsettling to have a blank name when encountered, as if you don't know what to call it. Plus a "null" type could've housed the once "???" typing that Curse once had before Gen 5 but alas *shrugs*. I really dig this Pokemon though as some of my favorites are the little odd man-made creatures in Pokemon like Castform and Porygon and was really hoping we'd get some more of them <3.
Ultra Beasts though are pretty crazy. I'm really hoping they will and forever not be Pokemon and be uncatchable as I kinda like the fucked-up notion behind them being this crazy entity. Honestly with it's description about not being a Pokemon and unsure if it has any thoughts or feelings leads me to believe that Gamefreak might be trying to have Ultra Beasts stand in for any Pokemon legendaries considered "bad" or "evil." This shifts blame over to another thing all together, kind of like how games and etc can use aliens and whatnot in place for a villain to avoid violence controversies. Might be looking a little too deep at it, but my first impressions anyway.
Kinda sad Alohan Raticate wasnt more mob-boss looking since it just more looks like a stuffed rat, but it's not like I ever really cared for these guys anyway. All I really want GameFreak to do is have Joey and his top percentage now-Alohan Ratata and join Team Skull.

I actually kind of agree. I never thought Pokemon as the type of game that needed a demo. They're largely all the same with new bells and whistles, which of those are always shown as pre-release hype material to ensure they're actually something different about this game than the last haha. I understand letting people have their hands on it probably helps seal the deal that they want to buy it, but still I think it's a little redundant. There's half of me that does hope they learned from last time and don't leave crazy information in the demo for people to nab, but on the other I've also never really been the type to need spoilers hidden for me in Pokemon games. I'm largely there to see the new Pokemon, what they are, where to find them/etc to try and make a game plan for my team I want along the journey. Most plots are painfully predictable and there's not really much to spoil other than maybe what's the E4's pokemon line up lmao.
So yeah that said I actually wouldn't mind if the entire Pokedex or something got leaked. While the trickle feed of seeing new Pokemon every 2 weeks or so is fun (and am grateful at how much info we're getting this time around), getting a full blast of the rest wouldn't be half bad as we're only a month or so out anyway. Plus it seems like a lot of resources went into new Alohan forms anyway so we'll see how many actual new Pokemon are left

While no, I do believe it's root games are genuinely good video games (whether or not for it's time or still holds up is still argument), I fully believe Sonic has been able to skirt by based on design alone. Sonic himself is a pretty masterful piece of design to tell you the truth. He's insanely iconic on image alone, and his core design (not talking about his 2 handfuls of design variants throughout the years) is incredibly likable by many. He's a striking balance of cool and cute and just in general aesthetically pleasing. Add this with 25 years of nostalgia and add the icing that he's from a still infantile era of video games, and we have this creature that's able to stand the test of time, no matter how good or bad his games are. Now that he has legacy, I'm pretty sure Sonic will stand throughout gaming history either until Sega goes under and decides to bring their company mascot with them to the grave, or video games are finally phased out of our culture for good. Though as I think, I guess if a generation of people come along and Sonic is not latched onto in the slightest, it could spell his death as well (ex. Popeye or Felix something of similar caliber, and even then they still lurk in the shadows).
And that's from a perspective where I don't hardly consider myself much of a Sonic buff anymore. Games are much more than the games themselves; they're pretty much a mashup of variant art forms to create something new with the level of immersion video games can offer. That said I don't think it's unfair to say that his design has been perfected enough to rival that of Mickey Mouse (and we all have heard before that he was even more recognizable than Mickey for a period of time).
    So was Sonic ever good?
As of subjective as that is of course, I'd personally say yes. I think his combination of being unleashed to planet Earth at optimal timing and presenting an exhilarating new and fresh game we haven't seen before mixed with his stellar design has resulted in a well done product. The games aren't a broken mess by any means, are fresh and new for it's time of mixing pinball and platforming, and are visually/audibly unique. The thing is however, if you'd ask me, is Sonic was able to carry this momentum through design and nostalgia alone to coast out the rest of his history. Is that saying none of the games after the classic sets are any good? No not at all, but he hasn't been able to reproduce this "planet aligning phenomena" since, whether that be on wish-washy core gameplay, lack of advertising, change to the video game market, Sega dipping out of consoles, or even just being plagued by Sonic's own success story and failure to ever live up to it. Whatever may be the problem from game to game, his design has allowed him to stay relevant throughout maybe failed to mediocre attempts (in the mass public's eye mind you, I really don't mean to trigger anyone haha). Other 90's animals of the week that sought to replicate him hardly kept up, yet Sonic still sells pretty dang decently and managed to pump out games on a regular basis.
I guess all in all Sonic's problem has just been adaptability. I can't imagine every game is created equal in the sense of ever-changing technology, and it's impressive that Sonic can still manage to still hang on after an incredible list of games that try so many forms of gameplay. I guess that's the fun part of being a Sonic fan, is you have this underdog that you know isn't really going anywhere any time soon, and it's fun to sit on this roller coaster to see what is tried next and if Sonic will truly have worldwide phenomena ever again.
My two cents anyway, I hope it wasn't too deep looking or wordy or not really answering the question lmao
