  1. I still remember the day when Invader Zim and Fairly Odd Parents premiered at the same time. I remember liking FOP as it was funny enough, but to me IZ was just on another level, everything felt so cinematic in its execution and its humor was so fresh at the time before the internet took said humor a few years later and ran it into the ground.

Sorry just watching the first ep again for the first time in forever and getting nostalgic

  2. they can call it the iPhone "Ten R" all they want in commercials, but I'll always read it as iPhone "EX R"

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

      iPhone XS

      iPhone Excess

iPhone EX R sounds fucking rad as hell

  3. welp it finally happened. My new work schedule drained me so much each day this week that it all cumulated into my body saying "screw you we're finally resting now" earlier this afternoon and i slept through my 10pm alarm and most of toonami this week as a result, the one thing I look forward to on traditional TV anymore and sorta the highlight of my week even though I can watch most of that stuff online.. subbed anyway

    1. Ferno

ended up hopping on the west coast stream lol

literally time travelin over some anime

  4. one of the guys near the end: "I hope after this movie we're never crazy enough to give up on 2D animation again"

that was in 2009. 10 years later its like

    1. RosaRosaRosalina

if by we they mean hollywood execs then yeah they’re pretty fuckin crazy

      not us

  5. Invader Zim was already my favorite Nicktoon back in the day visually, in terms of its art style and production values, but I think Enter the Florpus overall is probably among my favorite things that Nickelodeon has ever produced now. might be the hype talking though as I just watched it but yeah. was a bold move to make it so...colorful, but it worked really well.

also I was half expecting the ridiculously-extra cel shaded CGI flourishes to be missing from this (usually used in the original show for ships, effects, CG backgrounds here and there, walnuts that one time for no reason, etc.) but they were all there still, funny-enough its probably a lot cheaper to do these days in 2019 vs back in 2001 when effects like those were cutting edge and super expensive for a TV cartoon

    2. Strickerx5

Hell, in a lot of cases it’s even cost effective now over traditional.

  6. I never stopped to think that for kids who probably grew up with maybe Colors as their first sonic game, they had what most of us didn't get to have when we were kids/ teens- they got to grow up with one consistent sonic voice all their lives so far, across ALL media, besides the upcoming movie anyway.

    1. Strickerx5

*cough*they also haven't fully experienced a decent sonic storyline in-game either unless they went back*cough*

      oh excuse me

    2. Wraith

Speaking as a 2000s kid, no child will be seriously affected by this

    3. Kuzu the Boloedge

      Kuzu the Boloedge

I didn't even know people cared about that until I read it online at the time

  7. Been raining almost daily in my area. Everyday I get atleast a little wet at work. Been raining so much that the caulking/seal to my room's window has loosened again and water is dripping inside; I'll have to call my apartment office first thing in the morning about it to have it fixed probably while im away at work. I'm so tired of water now

    1. Crow the BOOLET

      Crow the BOOLET

When it started to become spring it rained for weeks. I've heard parts got flooded between recovering from winter and the rain the came in to replace the snow.

I don't know what's going on with all this rain all over. It has stopped for the most part in my area.

    2. Ferno

theres no climate change they said

      everything is normal they said

  8. they might as well've made this the theme for the current One Piece arc

  9. if Cartoon Network were ever gonna make another theatrical movie for the first time since PPG any time soon, I'd really want it to be the Amazing World of Gumball that gets one. the stuff they already do on a TV budget is amazing but imagine a full blown movie tho

    1. Menace2Society

I’ve been wanting a Gumball movie like that for years. It’s one of my personal favorite shows, and I would love to see it’s already impressive animation style in theatrical quality.

    2. Strickerx5

I'm still disappointed they aren't doing it for the SU movie.

Like, I get why (because they're fucking awful with airing and promoting the show on their actual network outside of those Dove commercials so lord knows the general audience won't be there for it), but still like come on.

But hey, at least TTG made it to the big screen right guys?!?...

*sigh* but yeah, it's magical seeing a show get the budget jump to a feature length film.

    3. NegaMetallix

Man, a Gumball movie would be awesome to see! IIRC, even the creator of the show once said that he'd like to see a movie spawn from the show at some point.

    4. Milo

@Strickerx5 Nevermind TTG made it to the big screen without really pushing the envelope with its animation. Like there were some spots where they did get creative with the art direction (such as The Lion King parody sequence) but you can definitely tell it's a TV movie given a theatrical release.

Still, TTG does get points for being a non-anime 2D animated film given a widespread release in 2018....and I guess the lack of animation bump had the tradeoff of the budget being low, it was made for only $10 million (just a million less than the PPG Movie), which on a $30M DOM / $52M WW gross, isn't too bad. (Although not for lack of trying on WB's part; they shipped it out against Mission Impossible with minimal fanfare....)

    5. Ferno

The PPG Movie remains a huge inspiration for me in terms of the possibility of doing more with less. Its budget was small, its actual animation was limited compared to stuff from say, Disney, yet they still pulled stuff like this off:

  10. the steam controller actually makes a decent web browsing mouse due to its borderline-obnoxious trackpads tbh

  11. *tumblr user jokes that maybe if tumblr's value sinks low enough, the users themselves could raise money to buy it so its independent again and then do with it what they see fit, like returning it to what it used to be back in like 2012 or so*

sounds like a good idea on paper until i remember that most users there probably know nothing about running a site or a business, but still

    1. Wraith

Neither did the people who own the site, what do you have to lose

  12. never forget

i really hope Iizuka took note on how everyone lost their shit when it was revealed that Knuckles and Tails were playable

    1. Adamabba

...and realizes they only went crazy when Classic Sonic was revealed for Forces cause they were in the heat of the moment

    2. PC the Hedgehog

      PC the Hedgehog

I like Iizuka, but the guy has an unvarnished track record of seeing what people react positively to, then promptly ignoring it for some questionable alternative idea.

    3. Polkadi~☆

Take more notes on the fact that people absolutely flipped over KNUCKLES being playable. KNUCKLES.

  13. *dusts off steam controller* ...i forgot i even HAD a steam controller, its like a gift from my impulse-buying past self

    1. Strickerx5

I brought a Steam Link at last year's summer sale that I still haven't even turned on...

  14. playing NiGHTS for the first time. its weird but fun

  15. *motivation is waning while working on a commission* *thinks about how crappy my current retail job continues to get and how I wanna break free from it sooner rather than later and how I'll need backup savings if I do that*

    1. Polkadi~☆

oh fuck, ferno has the death note

    2. Speederino

That's what I did. I still haven't managed to land a full-time job but my savings are still going strong and I'm at least doing Uber Eats to help supplement this down time.

Even if it's not as good as the pizza gig was but I am NOT going back to that dammit

    3. Ferno

also i'm reeeally gonna need to study up on the whole tax thing soon when it comes to miscellaneous secondary sources of income like this because if I really wanted to I could make a decent amount of bill paying/ savings money in a very short time period but I always hold back on how much I do at once due to feeling like the IRS will point a targeting lazer on me, and also just due the physical/ mental limits of how many commission clients I can work with at one time before burnout sets in
