  1. Tikal could've stayed a regular cast member similar to Silver tbh, except she'd just be from the distant past rather than the distant future, plus she's technically(?) a ghost so that would've been a neat character type. ...Then again it's probably for the best that SOMEONE on the hero side in this series left after one game before overstaying their welcome/ plot relevance.

SA1 was kinda the perfect closure to Tikal and Chaos putting aside their restlessness and being at peace at long last, but I guess since Chaos has been brought back multiple times for no real good reason I honestly wouldn't object to Tikal getting another shot or two to balance it out.

Yeah, no thanks. Tikal was introduced with a purpose and that purpose was successfully fulfilled in SA1. She definitely has no reason to appear in stories anymore. Her story has been told and I can't think of any way to take it further after SA1 without trashing her.

Silver, IMO, also should have stayed out of the series for a while or should have been reintroduced properly. I think he actually has something to offer being a psychic fighter from the future, but I've never been keen on the fact that he just keeps magicing back from the future whenever he wants to. A story should have been introduced that stopped him returning to the future or something.

And just cause we're on the subject, Shadow deserved so much more than Heroes storyline. His death in SA2 was really well played out at the end of that arc, but there was just so much more potential in the character. I'm glad they brought him back, and it's just a shame that Heroes pissed all over the impact that SA2 had. I don't even hate plot of ShTH that much. At least it tried.

Okay but I want a Sonic game that starts with Silver appearing and saying "Guys, we did it, the future stopped being fucked up permanently, you've truly created peace for good this time, well done."

Then Tikal appears and is like "Sonic I don't know how you did it but you managed to fuck up the past on that last adventure, c'mon let's go."

The game ends with it undoing Silver's future again and he reappears and is just like

      "GUYS." ಠ_ಠ

Shadow was window dressing in Heroes, didn't really do much of anything and was only there to move units . A bunch of mystery and questions with no answers until his big dumb game. I thought the Shadow Android subplot would've been really cool but even that was relegated to a unimportant non Canon story path

@Blacklightning Chaos came back for Battle, IIRC only because he shows up in times of crisis. It was forced and didn't really follow SA1. But other than that... Where has he showed up? In Forces he's just an illusion, in Generations it's timey-wimey nonsense, and I can't think of anything else other than cameos like SA2's multiplayer. He's been mentioned (Chronicles, Heroes) but doesn't appear.

@JezMM the sequel has the gang trying to fix the past AND Silvers future.

      Spoiler

In the end, the present somehow got ruined.

I liked how the Archie comics post-reboot did it, with her and Chaos inhabiting the Master Emerald and warning Knuckles when shit is about to go down.
