      I love these guys!

    2. Thigolf

This is probably his best one yet, and that is saying a ton.

    3. Ferno

      So calming tho

  2. I feel like this was just like, two days ago

It was clearly six years ago, if you pay attention to the date at the end of the trailer.

The buzz surrounding XY was pretty intense. It didn't have the controversy of SwSh at all, and focus was squarely on two things; it's in France and it's in 3D. I think that the rampant success of Go and temporary threat of Yo-Kai Watch played a role in both reinvigorating and reshaping Pokémon somewhat, so by the time that SuMo came around the brand was being handled a bit differently. It's in full swing with SwSh, and...I don't like it.

  4. I feel like Sun and Moon Anime fans got the short end of the stick in terms of the movies, mainly because all throughout the S/M Anime years The Pokemon Company was in a Sega-style nostalgia phase and released 3 alternate universe/ nostalgia movies and not one Sun & Moon movie set in Alola with a prettier version of the current TV Anime style.

      Honestly it's better this way.

I will say The Power of United States has a really pretty visual style I wish the series would had/kept but I don't mind S/M's style all too much.

That said its rather jarring that there isn't any Alola themed movies at all. Probably because all the Legendaries and UBs are tied to the plot and there isn't a ton of mythicals released like back in Gen 4 and 5.

This situation kind of reminds me of how its like during the Yugioh Arc V era where the movie was solely based on DM and didn't had any trace of the current season in it. Thankfully Pokemon didn't suffer from the same production issues Arc V had due to the movie's production taking away from it.

Could just be my complete disconnect from the anime nowadays but I feel like these latest movies are just the result of all of them in general never really having any barring on the show itself.

Outside of like a handful of easter eggs, I can't remember the two things ever really effecting one another. It's like they shared the same characters and everything, but take place in almost a pocket timeline. Hell, the show itself has even contradicted the movies a number of times.

The only thing that has seemed to keep the two somewhat associated with one another is the pure brand recognition. If it wasn't Ash and Pikachu on the posters, the movies probably wouldn't do as well. At that point, might as well just keep those two and toss the rest into the wind like they've done.

    4. Ferno

Even though DP wasn't my favorite gen, I will admit that the movies for that gen in the anime were all pretty strong in that they all sorta connected with each other, with the Arceus movie probably being the last one I remember being even remotely hyped for. The weakest of that bunch of course was the Zoroark movie, then it was all downhill from there. (ok so I remember being a lil hyped for Zoroark but hey they had an evil ash in the trailers they tricked me dammit)

    5. tailsBOOM!

MewTwo Strikes Back had a follow-up episode that finished the story of M2, plus there were a few lead in episodes @Strickerx5

    6. Soniman

I'm not crazy about this direction but the movies before also sucked dick so idk it's something different at least. And despite the title, Power of Us isn't nostalgic centric whatsoever

    7. Strickerx5

Yo, can I go off on a side tangent here and talk about how unbelievably hyped I was for that 11th movie (Sky Warrior). Like holy shit, I remember the trailers hyping it up as one of the most beautiful gd things I had seen at that point. I mean look at this shit!

*sound warning as this video played super loudly on my end*

God, my 12 year old self was hyped af. And THAT SONG. One by Crystal Kay is still, flat out, the best song ever tied to this franchise don't @ me. It's still a straight up bop to this day imo.

But keep in mind that this was before I had started to catch on to them advertising the movies with scenes/ shots that weren't even in them. Shit was straight up false advertising. Needless to say that the movie didn't live up to my (admittedly lofty 12 year old) expectations and that's probably where one could start to trace my super gradual decline in terms of obsession for the series.

Didn't really like 12, feel asleep half way through 13, didn't bother to watch 14 and 15 until a year after the fact, and have only watched one of them fully since.

10 is still one of my favorites of them all though so there's that.

@tailsBOOM!True, absolutely forgot how well woven the first movie actually was into the series. Can't remember them doing the same for any of the other ones though.

    8. Ferno

pokemon movie soundtracks were goin' so hawrd that gen but we westerners didn't even realize

Edit: i know i was shit-talkin the Zoroark movie 2 seconds ago but I forgot this was attached to it:

      sweet jebuz

  5. I actually like the artstyle of Xenoblade 2 on a base level, but I always thought the models in the game looked weird, especially around the mouth area of their faces tbh

    1. Zaysho

It really depends on the cutscenes, to me. Most of them are just kind of simple, looped poses that give off a puppet kind of vibe, but then you have other, more important cutscenes, that are generally more expressive and dynamic. More or less true with XC1 and X (though I think X got away with feeling a bit more consistent).

  6. i like how this fanmade crossover spoof makes the Kappa Mikey idea look way cooler than Kappa Mikey itself ever did

    1. Speederino

      Reminds me of this:

The editing in both of these these videos are way too fucking good

  7. gonna sound like a sentimental old fart but I'm genuinely interested in the next sonic game, not really for the game itself but from the potential for this forum to become bustling again, even if its just for the hype train between announcement and release. Though in the past this place used to be wild even in dry news periods. Just another sign of change between everyone who still uses old-school forums growing older and/or leaving, and social media taking over. Still, I'll probably still keep checking in on the regular until the wheels fall off this place. Been one of the constants of my online life for over 13 years now.

    1. Jango

Yeah, I'm already missing the "we only saw one level, you can't judge yet!" vs "this looks garbage" wars. Great times.

      Blue Wisp

This place around Generations's launch was so good and so much fun.

I still miss some guys from those days that to this day I'm still not sure what happened to them.

    3. Ferno

hey now some of the stuff on here like how we all went crazy over 3 seconds of Sonic 4 footage was dumb but it was funny af

    4. Blue Wisp

      Blue Wisp

when the whole Sonic 4 leaked

TWICE because it also happened with Episode 2.

      Good times.

    5. Ferno

when the whole of generations got leaked and the forum exploded because we also had sega forum members visiting that day

      what a ride tho

    6. Blue Wisp

      Blue Wisp

Oh MAN the demo leak of Generations which for some reason had all the zones, all items, all mission strings and like 80% of the full game in it.

The level list leak was like "Nah it can't be it" and it turns out they DID indeed have 4 city stages in their game.

    7. Speederino

Social media is like shouting into a vacuum, it's partly why I hang around here so much. It might not have anywhere near as many people as Twitter but at least I know my incoherent rambling will be read by *someone*.

  8. This is the first time I actually found this and I actually just assumed it was lost media tbh

I didn't have cable when this pilot/special premiered on CN so I missed it, but when I think about it, Craig Bartlett having a show on Cartoon Network would've been interesting

    1. Emperor Robrainiac

      Emperor Robrainiac

I didn't watch all of it, but I remember channel surfing and being caught off guard at how much the art-style reminded me of Hey Arnold, and (Not understanding how shows/cartoons/showrunners/whatever work.) wondering what it was doing on Cartoon Network.

I should check the pilot out sometime. I remember liking what I saw, and I can't remember why I stopped watching.

    2. Ferno

I don't remember the events in order but I think this thing was either made because Hey Arnold was already cancelled and Craig already cut ties with Nick at the time, or Nick cancelled Hey Arnold and the Jungle movie because they were pissed that Craig was making something for the competition, I honestly don't remember anymore and I'll need to google it.

Still, Joe Murray didn't seem to have any trouble getting Camp Lazlo made, but at that time Rocko's Modern Life was already finished for about a decade

  9. most of my time on social media has pretty much been: "this post will probably be the straw that breaks the camel's back and causes an exodus of followers" *wakes up to more followers than i had before* "oh...neat. I'm sure a future one will cause the exodus tho oh im sure its-a-comin'"

    1. Speederino

Okay here's what you do: take a picture of yourself eating Chic-fil-A and say something good about The Last Jedi. That should be more than enough.

    2. Ferno

i gotta throw the baby penguin off the cliff in super mario 64

  10. I'm sitting here thinking about the Dreamcast and tbh, if it survived, then the 6th gen would've been crowded af. Plus Sonic would've stayed 1st party. If you were an all-around gamer and really wanted to experience the likes of Sonic, Mario, Jak & Daxter and Halo, you'd need 4 consoles. Most kids' parents weren't made of money like that though so more often than not I'm sure kids raised on nintendo or playstation never would've even gotten into Sonic until way later.

    1. Tarnish

But then if you look at it from a SEGA fan point of view, going 3rd party sucked for them big time. For this SEGA game, you needed the Gamecube, for that one you needed an Xbox, for the 3rd one you needed a GBA, then I'm sure there were a few Playstation 2 exclusives...all this after already getting a Dreamcast.

    2. Mr Loopone

      Mr Loopone

It would have been tight but then again maybe not? People were hyping up the PS2 a year before that came out and that pretty much coasted an easy win throughout the generation especially worldwide, Sega would have still struggled and would had to bring a new console or a revision based on a cutdown NAOMI 2 to match up with the Gamecube and the Xbox, plus the DC would have been getting old unable to cope with later games on the other three systems due to the GD ROM that was more restricted in space than the GC discs that itself got criticism. If anything, the Xbox would have struggled more due to no Sega, no Tecmo and Halo might have not been a hit making it no different than some of the failed competitors such as the 3DO. The Gamecube also benefited from Sega so the console would have sold less too.

By this new 7th gen, it would have been a two horse race between Sony and Nintendo with Sega being third if they even survived by 2006. Then by 2012, the gaming market might not even be a thing or at least different than what we imagined it.

Besides the Dreamcast getting discontinued was just an accelerator for Microsoft to get into the console business. Some original Xbox games were actually cancelled Dreamcast games and I wouldn't have been surprised if Dead or Alive 3 and Ninja Gaiden would have been on that or Sega's next console had they had the cash to make one. Either that or Sega gets Dead or Alive while Nintendo gets Ninja Gaiden.

  11. for anyone who may happen to need this right this second

what do I do if the video is bufferi--

    2. Ferno

      ...y-you good over there

    3. SupahBerry

Can you give me a similar video on how to defuse a bomb?

      I have one

  12. For the first time in years I'm trying to study up on stuff like Wordpress again and maybe Squarespace too since I'm really thinking of giving up on hosting present or future webcomic projects on tumblr. I know places like Tapas exist too tho, just weighing all options. Either way I just want my comic stuff running smoothly again in some shape or form by the end of the year.

  13. the only tier list that matters tbh

  14. if we're getting closure with ash can we finally get an ep where his dad shows up

    1. SupahBerry

Sure. At long last, Ash gets to tearfully reunite with his long lost father...

    2. Strickerx5

I think seeing Ash's Dad is one of the clearest signs of the apocalypse there is

    3. Ferno

      DELIA! ASH!

  15. Enter the Florpus is probably the first thing I've watched more than once on Netflix in such a short time span
