I think you can focus on a specialist subject, but you need to be creative in your own right as well if you want to have a constant output, or build up a level of quality and trust with your audience that allows you to only make content when you deem it worthy of being made, rather than just for the sake of it.

This original special stage track from a Sonic Mania mod is pretty good if you wanna make-believe:

JezMM got a reaction from Supah Berry in I wonder if the Colors remaster will be as lazy as the Galaxy port in SM3DAS or even
I don't think you could change much about Colours that wouldn't be highly subjective no.  I mean, I would change a LOT but we're talking re-doing whole levels because I just don't care for their level design philosophy on this one.
I guess my ideal scenario would be rebranding all the mini gimmicky acts as bonus optional ones and replacing them in the mandatory story progression with new, original, full-length 3D focused stages to balance out all the 2D.  But that's a tall order for a remaster and who even knows if the movement mechanics are even really built for challenging 3D gameplay when put to the test.

JezMM got a reaction from Supah Berry in what if they put the mother wisp into the colors port
Only if it still unceremoniously and repetitively goes "DUHHHHH =C" after every hit including even the last one.

To be fair they know full well people want to enjoy old games... just not enough people for it to be worth the maintainence of the store financially.
Not to say they're entirely "right" of course, because I'm sure a company like Sony could afford to keep the stores open indefinitely, but that would mean they'd only earn "a lot of money" instead of "very a lot of money".

JezMM got a reaction from Supah Berry in The "Link is dead in Majora's Mask" theory doesn't make any sense. In Twilight Prince
The most non-sensical thing about the "Link is dead" theory is that anyone would find it to be the more interesting theory over taking the narrative at face value.
Let's take one of the most intricate, unique and melancholic Zelda narratives and forcibly re-interpret it into the most cliché non-literal interpretation in the book.
If I recall as well, all the stages of grief in this theory referenced use the whole overarching plot of each region as an example of the stage, except for bargaining which shoehorns itself in by saying "that one (10 second long) bit where Darmarni asks Link if he can use his magic to revive him".

JezMM got a reaction from Supah Berry in Replaying SA1 I forgot how dumb it is that your first experience with the game begins
I do think it was a bad choice but it's a relic of it's time I guess and at least evidence of Sonic Team's priorities.
Mario's introduction to 3D was so prioritised on gameplay that they tested Mario's basic movements in simple garden maps for months on end before starting to develop levels.  When the player is introduced to the game, the very first thing they let you do is explore and play with Mario in a relatively empty and hazardless space in the exact same manner.
For better or worse... Sonic Team decided that plot, story, and fanfare was more important than gameplay to introduce Sonic to the 3D space.  While the boss is relatively inoffensive in the grand scheme of things... talk about tripping at the first hurdle considering they still struggle with the gameplay experience for 3D Sonic in one way or another to this day.
On the flipside though... I get it.  That really was the style at the time, it was starting to feel in reach that games could provide an experience that was reminsicent of film and TV.  It was considered important to appeal to that expectation, so it's not a completely unreasonable direction to take.  It's just a shame that Sonic Team ALSO fucked that up at the first hurdle by the time Sonic first opens his mouth lol.  It's a good thing us fans were so young and forgiving when we played it.

Look out, down below! Sonic is on the go. Can't stop this party 'til we save the world. This time, not alone. We've got some friends along. And as a team we can become even stronger. Together we can show the world what we can do You are next to me, and I'm next to you
Pushing on through until the battles won No ones gonna give a thing to us
Into each other we put our trust
    Standing united, after the fight
All alone we will never be
The two of us, are holding the key We can make it if we all stick together. We won't give up, not ever! And everything's gonna be all right. We all bring out the best things in each other. Together we are stronger than anyone else could be on their own. So much better than alone.

JezMM got a reaction from Polkadi~☆ in For how much people claim Lost Levels is the "true Mario 2" it's amazing how little a
Please, "Did you know that Mario 2 is actually Doki Doki Panic" is old news, the new hotness is "Doki Doki Panic started development as a tech demo for potential new Mario game but was turned into Doki Doki Panic following a licensing deal, thus Mario 2 was Mario 2 all along".

Lost Levels is underrated though.  The level design was way more adventorous and has more in common with modern Mario level design than Mario 1 did in terms of variety.  Unfortunately it just also has a few levels with utterly insanely obnoxious mean tricks too.  It really was built for players who had mastered Mario 1 and absolutely no-one else.
