  1. Gotta love how they axed the anthro world in Sonic X for "relatability"

Because we can all relate to a rich kid with rich parents with a butler, a maid, and Not Doc Brown as an uncle.

  2. Well, guess I'm not getting Sword then.

Basically Thanos Snapping away so many Pokes is dumb.

    1. Lord-Dreamerz

      Lord-Dreamerz

Agreed. Might as well wait to see if the later 3rd version of the game fixes that problem. 3rd versions always have more content either way which makes buying the first set kinda pointless often.

    2. TCB

      TCB

      Anything new?

    3. DreamSaturn

      DreamSaturn

Nope, just frustrated with how they're axing so many Pokemon for no real reason.

  3. I still can't believe how underplayed Sonic's 25th anniversary was compared to the 20th. Like, the San Diego party was nice and the coin was cool, but it was basically one big "See you next year!"

    1. Thigolf

      Thigolf

I mean, what were they supposed to do, throw out games that weren't ready yet?

    2. DreamSaturn

      DreamSaturn

The 20th anniversary had a ton of conventions, events, merch, etc. Sonic was literally everywhere. Generations didn't come out until late in the year, so it's not like there was absolutely nothing.

    3. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

SEGA chose to make a big deal of the 20th. Making a big deal of the 25th would have been overkill. No games were ready to launch as a celebration, and there had been only five years since  the 20th celebration. It already felt arbitrary them celebrating 25 years to the extent they did; they definitely didn't need to do more. Both 20 and 25 make sense as milestone years, but you kind have to pick one or the other to focus on, because they're so close to each other.

@Blue Blood I'd also add that the 10th and 15th anniversaries (as far as I know) were more mellow acknowledgements of the series' longevity that didn't push that milestone much outside of games getting a corresponding anniversary badge and only did small nods to the series' history (hidden GHZ in Adventure 2). The 20th anniversary going big and Generations being a roadtrip through the series past up to the present made sense in light of that background and I'd say the 25th was just a return to that normal tradition.

I'd also say that with the current era of games constantly looking back to the past, another big blowout celebration of Sonic's history would only feel like Sega breaking their arms in their attempts to further pat themselves on the back. I remember when the 25th anniversary event and tie-in projects were announced --coming off the Boom fallout and dry spell during that time-- and some people remarked that it came across as the series celebrating itself for still existing more than anything else (especially with other people calling for another anniversary-specific game during that time).

  4. Fuck yeah Aggretsuko Season 2

  5. Tails: We all need to stick together forever and ever no matter what!

Also Tails: Lemme just abandon you all for 6 months

  6. I'm so glad the Destroy All Humans remake is keeping the original voice cast. Crypto and Pox's banter just wouldn't be the same without their original voices.

  7. Now my scramble to save up and buy a Switch is in overdrive.

    Unemployment sucks.

  8. Two things I'd really love to get my hands on are the Promotional Copy and Review Copy of Sonic 2006 to document any differences from the retail release, no matter how small.

  9. Just like the '06 fandub foretold.

    Fallout 76 Battle Royale.

When bad jokes become actual products, oof.

It's not even the full 100 players either...

Let's just create a superlaser made of piss and get it over with

  10. That really annoying thing where people don't bother to cite what music they used in a video, but you know it's a Kevin MacLeod song so now you have to sift through over 1,550 songs just to find that ONE specific song you want.

    1. RedFox99

      RedFox99

I've still yet to find the music used in the discussion before the list and during the recap in this video.

  11. One show that used to give little Saturn legitimate nightmares was A Haunting. I remember one episode, (more specific images of it) so vividly, how I would wake up crying and screaming it scared me so much.

...So here I am, turning 21 in a few months, watching it at 1 AM, and it doesn't scare me any less than it did back then. Even if I can appreciate the cheese of a lot of it now having seen most of The Conjuring movies.

  12. Going by ChaosX's Twitter, it sounds like the next P06 demo will feature Radical Train. Which I'm definitely okay with. Radical Train is one of the few levels I can tolerate in the original.

    1. Red

      Red

Have they done Crisis City yet? That and White Acropolis were always my favourite levels to replay.

    2. DreamSaturn

      DreamSaturn

Nope! I imagine that'll come soon enough, though. Apparently he wants to finish Sonic's campaign before moving on to Shadow's, which I can understand.

    3. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

Radical Train is an okayish stage, except fot the mach speed/bike section which is a world of pain.

  13. Destroy All Humans remake makes Saturn a happy happy boy

      PaulyBFromDa303

      OMG. There's a throwback XD

  14. The vulcan cannon shots don't hurt individually, but they'll cut down my Rings bit by bit!

  15. My application as a professional fursui-I mean walkaround character for Chuck E Cheese is in. Now we anxiously play the waiting game.

  16. I've gotta hurry and save Elise!

      Dr. Detective Mike

He's gotta hurry and save Elise but he waited until morning to follow the Egg Carrier.

  17. If I never see another single damn halfpipe in a Sonic game for as long as I live, it'll be too soon.

    1. PC the Hedgehog

      PC the Hedgehog

What, you want ORIGINAL ideas for special stages instead of the same rehashed thing over and over again? Pbbt, Sonic fandom...

  18. So we have Maddie Blaustein, a transwoman who was a very prolific voice in the Sonic series during the 4Kids era, and Long John Baldry, an openly gay man who provided arguably the most recognizable voice for Dr. Robotnik to date.

    Sonic says LGBT rights

    1. Milo

      Milo

can't seem to find it right now, but didn't sega europe(?) tweet a picture of sonic holding the pride flag a couple of weeks ago?

    2. DreamSaturn

      DreamSaturn

@Milo Sega Hardlight, yeah. But the Sonic Twitter did do something similar when same sex marriage was legalized in the States a few years back.

    3. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

None of the Sonic series voices that Maddie provided were prolific or for particularly popular characters (it's widely agreed that he Omega was the worst, and that was her biggest role).

Meanwhile claiming that Pollock isn't the most recognisable voice for Eggman is.... Nah.

    4. Ernest the Panda

      Ernest the Panda

The 4kids cast also had openly gay Andrew Rannells.

Plus Bently Jones came out a couple of years ago.

    5. PublicEnemy1

      PublicEnemy1

May they both rest in piece.

    6. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

Damn, Blaustein died at 48. That's incredibly young, shit sucks.

    7. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

I...legitimately don't see how any voice is more iconic than Pollock for Eggman. He nails the character perfectly.

  19. "Pray for Trump" is trending. I thought he fell off a balcony or something.

Nope. Just a thing stupid people are doing out of frustration.

  20. I used to be "with it".

But then they changed what "it" was, now what I'm with isn't "it" and what's "it" is weird and scary to me.

    It'll happen to you.

  21. Merlina remains my favorite villain in all of Sonic bar none.

    1. Blue Wisp

      Blue Wisp

Hell to the fuck yes brother

      Merlina is a fantastic character

  22. I am forever bothered by Lavender Town in Gen 2.

I get that Red set the spirits of the Pokemon at peace, but it just seems kinda...really distasteful to up all those graves and throw them into a small building for a radio tower.

    1. Sapphirine Wind

      Sapphirine Wind

Yeah! I always found that so weird!

The other thing about it is, it feels like moving on in the wrong way. Moving on would be accepting that tower. It's not inherently a bad place-- people put their beloved Pokemon to rest in it. Here, it just feels like... stripping a huge piece of identity away to be more palatable.

But Goldenrod has a Radio tower, and we can actually go explore it! Why not make a new Radio Tower in Saffron City? It's in the center of the Region and gives off a "big city" vibe perfect for a radio tower.

    2. Thigolf

      Thigolf

That's what makes it funny, though

  23. Goddamn the music for Mod Pods in TSR is so good

I wanna get this game eventually but blegh responsible spending and denuvo

    1. PC the Hedgehog

      PC the Hedgehog

I posted a status update about it earlier! It really is, isn't it? Senoue and Jacques really make for a good musical team.

  24. 100x100 is such a bad and terrible size cap to put on avatars and I'll never understand why that's what fA chooses to use.

fA in general feels like a giant trainwreck.

    1. FReaK

      FReaK

I remember back in 2003 it was 150x150 in german Forums. Dunno if it's still limited due to File sizes, but it actually shouldn't be, since Webspace got way cheaper since the old days.

Maybe it is still because of people with slow internet. Can't imagine another reason.

btw, we celebrate our birthday on the same day, just a few years apart..lel.

  25. Agh, damn it, my acne is breaking out again.
