  1. Because that's not really the style of gameplay Sonic is built for. Things like the Red Rings in Generations are fine, they're completely optional and sprinkled along the paths, but like, when we get into things like the Sun/Moon medals or the Treasure Hunting where slowing down to find things is the entire point? That's counter intuitive for the kind of game Sonic is. If you make someone like Knuckles the star and not Sonic, then sure, maybe?
  2. Maybe not base Sonic, but Indigo Rush made an interesting suggestion on Twitter not too long ago: maybe let Super Sonic swim underwater, sort of with NiGHTS Into Dreams controls? That could be fun. Opens up a lot of possibilities for level design. Sonic Colors' handling of "swimming" where Sonic can just jump infinitely is just really weird and I don't think I like it very much.
  3. Paying heavy thought to dropping out of college (and chances are I probably will). The only things they offer that are even remotely close to game development are the most rudimentary computer courses, covering topics I largely already know like the basics of Windows.

And it sucks. It sucks a lot. Even if it’s for reasons that sound really good in my head and make a lot of sense to me, I still feel really bad about it. I can’t escape the feelings of “I’m a failure”

      What’s your major now?

I WAS hoping to go into Software Development but it doesn't look like that's working out currently. Despite being a pretty progressive school, they ironically don't have many options for tech outside of things like engineer, it's isn't really what I want.

  4. Missed opportunity? Kind of, yeah. Sonic Runners was great fun at first. But of course, we all know what happened there. There's not much that I can say that the OP doesn't already. I even remember getting SRA on the anniversary and like, somewhere within the span of three days after getting it I published a review on my review tumblr blog and a status here that basically said "Wow this game kinda sucks", and the replies I got were agreeing with me. SRA feels lesser in just about every degree. Sure, they used good music, but Green Hill just doesn't get my blood pumping for a good run the same way that Beyond the Speed Of does. It's the worst. It's just the worst. They removed the microtransactions, but they ended up charging for a game that looks, sounds, and plays a lot lesser than the game it was supposed to replace.
  5. Well see the problem with that is that's a temporary fix at best. Sonic Forces was almost entirely new people and that's one of the most divisive Sonic titles in quite some time. The problem lies more with Sega's management than anything.
  6. So Mufasa's death from the remake got leaked and

Holy shit it's so bad it's hilarious and painful

Does Simba have no emotion on his face?

I bet he has no emotion on his face.

    2. SupahBerry

Does it make this leak of the early version if this scene look like a masterpiece?

    3. DreamSaturn

      Among many other problems

    4. Polkadi~☆

      Oh, that’s brilliant.

    5. SupahBerry

      How bout this version?

    6. Conquering Storm’s Servant

      Conquering Storm’s Servant

Eh, I’m waiting for the live action Mulan anyway. I’ve liked much of the live action Disney remakes, but the Lion King has some big shoes to fill.

    7. KHCast

@SupahBerry that’s the best version clearly

    8. The Tenth Doctor

      The Tenth Doctor

They... removed all menace from the line "Long Live the King"... Why?

Though I can now listen to the score. THIS is what I'm interested in. Screw the crap visuals. Scrap the crap acting. I'm here for Hans Zimmer.

    9. Menace2Society

why the fuck is Simba smiling in that Kingdom Hearts cutscene?

    10. KHCast

Cause they lazy. No seriously, cub/lion Sora has actual facial animations but cub simba just has that static face the entire time. I guess they figured since it was one scene it wasn’t worth the hassle

  7. Then there is no way to "fix" the movie. If Paramount insists on putting out a nightmare, well, just another addition to the ever growing pile of crap this franchise already has, I suppose.
  8. EDIT: My apologies. I misread the question. Anyways, yes, there is a patch. It comes with this, if I remember correctly: https://gamebanana.com/tools/6329 Just click "Disable CD check" in the options.
  9. Yeah, I'm not buying the whole "We were with you!" thing. Sure, Sonic looking less like something I'd see at the foot of my bed during an episode of sleep paralysis is nice, but that still leaves a cavalcade of unfunny jokes, dated CG, annoying, bland and dumb human characters that take center stage...the design is only the most obvious and most horrific problem that we can see from the one, single, bad trailer they put out. The problem with the movie is the very concept. Just as a band-aid won't heal a broken arm, a simply design fix won't fix a movie that's doomed to fail. The only way to truly "fix" this movie now is to scrap everything and start over from scratch. Maybe get better writers this time.
  10. Of all the bad takes I've seen, people arguing that we're morally obligated to see the Sonic movie if we said anything bad about design is among the dumbest.

    1. Mad Convoy

      Mad Convoy

God, people are so annoying sometimes...

What part of “if you don’t want to see it, don’t see it; if you do want to see it, go see it” is so hard for some folks to understand? People aren’t even obligated to follow Sonic as a whole, let alone watch the movie...

    2. DreamSaturn

Like, I wasn't even saying the design should be changed. I made fun of how bad and awful I thought their original design was, sure, but I never once said "Change it", I probably wouldn't like the movie regardless of what design they used. Classic, Modern, Boom, whatever the hell it is they were going for with the movie, doesn't make a difference to me. It's...basically the entire concept of the movie that's the issue with me.

  11. Of all the dumb defenses, "Wait until it's out to judge it" is probably the worst.

Like, pre-release is the absolute best time to judge things because that's when there's still a tiny bit of hope that it could change. Once it's out it's too late.

Not to mention pre-release material literally exists to be judged. If studios wanted nobody to say absolutely anything at all about their show/comic/game/movie/whatever, then why would they give interviews about it, put out trailers, screenshots, etc.

    1. Lord-Dreamerz

I hope all the people that say "Don't judge until the final release!" are not the same people who pre-order everything. HA! Because pre-ordering is basically making a judgment call that it is something worth your time based on only pre-release info.

  12. The difference is those are now established elements of the franchise. You can argue they're poorly established, sure. But they're established all the same and at least were kind of worked in to fit into Sonic's world. What's Tom the Cop and *flips through IMDb* Minivan Kid's excuse?
  13. At least those are familiar elements (for better or for worse) that would make it feel more like a Sonic thing. This has none of those things. There's a reason none of the games with G.U.N ever focused on individual troops and had them team up with Sonic. Because nobody cares about characters like Tom the Cop or Jerry the Used Car Salesman
  14. Sorry, but no. Apologies are useless unless action is taken to make sure improvement is made, and by that token, I'm not giving them brownie points for fixing a problem that they created and that shouldn't have existed in the first place.
  15. "But rarely is the question asked, is our children learning?"

    1. Perkilator

      "Is our". Fucking "is our".

    2. DreamSaturn
  16. "We were with you!" seems like a hollow gesture when fans, non-fans, the creators of Sonic and other big names were saying that it's a bad design long before the trailer dropped, but they actively ignored everyone. Never forget Patrick Casey's condescending "Everybody relax"
  17. So apparently the next P06 demo will have Radical Train and Flame Core for Sonic. Which yeah, I'm okay with. They're probably what I would call the "best" levels in '06. Flame Core in particular doesn't have any especially awful gimmicks like snowboarding or Mach Speed and no section is particularly heinous.

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Flame Core suffers from a lot of tedious "beat all the enemies to open the door" sections, but other than that the level design is actually really solid.

    2. Blacklightning

Trying to light all the lights on a timed sequence as Knux is awful enough that I'd consider it a gimmick in of itself tbh.

    3. Celestia

To be fair what makes playing as Knuckles a real pain is not being able to jump off walls, which (probably) won't be an issue in P06.

  18. Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. You cozy in there?

    1. SupahBerry

      Judge for yourself.

    2. The Tenth Doctor

      The Tenth Doctor

Yes and I have a message.

  19. I was only 8 when '06 dropped so it definitely dropped in my formative years, so maybe that explains why I have so much affection for it. I just can't bring myself to hate it as much as everyone else, even with all it's well-documented problems.

  20. So if this is to be believed, it sounds like they may just be giving him slightly larger eyes and gloves. Which...if this is true, it doesn't really change my mind on the movie at all? I still think it all sounds like total and complete garbage, just with a Sonic that's slightly less horrifying to look at now.
  21. Tom Holland: "I don't know the future of Spider-Man, but I do know a lot of what happens at Marvel and a lot more people are going to be represented."

Broflakes: "So...you're saying..SPIDER-MAN WILL BE GAY???? WOW SJW BULLSHIT PANDERING"

    1. Heckboy

excited to have more diverse fascist power fantasies

    2. KHCast

Gay Spider-Man is like one of my top wants. But I’ll settle for SpBIder-man also....I’ll see myself out

edit: seriously though, if a existing MCU character is gonna be lgbt my bets are on Thor tbh. He seems like the one guy that wouldn’t at all find it weird or anything, being a Nordic god and all. I could totally see him enjoying people of all types

    3. Mad Convoy

      Mad Convoy

Diverse = “omgggg the GAY!!!!!!!” now?

Huh, I’m used to people complaining about black or Hispanic superheroes existing when there’s complaints about broadening the diversity of Marvel characters. It’s a new generation of bigotry, I guess.

    4. KHCast

LGBT characters in Marvel has always been a controversy of which nerdom is typically against it. Compound that with the societal stigma still looming in general regarding lgbt representation in the media, yeah, there’s gonna be unneeded complaining

as for the diverse = gay thing, well, most ethnicities and races are represented for the most part in the MCU, it’s only natural I guess that people assume it’s referring to the next big hot button issue in regards to representation

    5. Ryannumber1gamer

We already know that MCU is getting more representation in general, hell Hulkling is being heavily rumoured for a Young Avengers movie, and he's one of the most well known LGBT characters in Marvel comics.

    6. KHCast

      Unless they straightwash him

    7. Ryannumber1gamer

really doubt they'd do it. Especially after the brownie points Marvel got for Captain Marvel and Black Panther retrospectively. They would be slaughtered if they did it.

    8. Wraith

MCU representation will always be halfhearted at best.

    9. KHCast

Just sayin, they did to a degree do that with Deadpool, and downplayed his bisexuality as more a joke “haha no homo” thing

  22. Thanks to Trump, Yesterday I learned:

    - During the Revolutionary War, the armies invaded the airports

    - the Rocket's Red Flare at For McHenry

    - Cornwallis at Yorktown

I think if Trump tried to sing the national anthem, he'd end it with "and a partridge in a pear tree."

    2. shdowhunt60

Honestly given that this is Trump that we're talking about, I thought it wasn't that bad of a speech. Just, y'know, hire a proofreader?

    3. Celestia

      Very edumacational

  23. Hmmm... Sonic Jam. Mostly for my love of the Saturn controller, the Easy Mode for games being good for just kicking back and relaxing on an afternoon, and the Sonic World is a pretty cool feature, especially with all the content you can view with it and the context of it being an early prototype for Sonic Adventure.
  24. The Walking Dead issue 193 spoilers:

"Do not fear, dear reader, for this may seem like a scary book at first, and your mommy or daddy may even read it in a scary voice. Shame on them. But this is not a scary story. This story is about hope. One day a long time ago, dead people decided they didn't want to be dead anymore. Nobody knows why. And don't be embarrassed, it scared everyone. Nobody knew what was happening, or why... but life changed. Everyone was tested. That's why this time came to be called the Trials. You've probably heard your parents talk about it. It was a scary time, and many good, strong people lost themselves along the way. They started to forget who they were, they even started to forget what was good and bad. They only worried about living. There was no time to follow the rules. Almost nobody brushed their teeth or went to sleep by their bedtime. A great darkness fell across the whole world. It made everyone sad. People didn't know if things would ever get back to normal. Most people were sure it never would... and they got sadder... and meaner. When things were at their darkest... a man came along. Someone who had been hurt by the Trials. But he didn't let it make him sad. Not all the time at least, and we all know it's okay to be sad sometimes. Rick Grimes had an idea. He knew that if we stayed together and made friends instead of enemies... we could do anything. Even remake the world. He made friends and lost friends as he moved across the country. He met people he thought would be friends, but they turned out to be bad. He sometimes had to hurt the bad people to protect his friends. Sometimes he was scared that he was becoming a bad person. But he never did. And he taught other people how not to let the Trials turn them into bad people. He even met bad people and turned them into friends. Rick traveled far and wide, always bringing his friends with him, and they made him stronger. They made him safe. And he taught people how to make friends and use them to make themselves stronger and safer. The Trials made people so angry that some of them just wanted to fight. But Rick knew this was wrong. He showed them how to be friends instead. The Trials were dangerous times, and even Rick himself didn't survive them. But he was able to show us the way. With his teachings, the Trials ended... and life returned to normal. We even have ice cream again! People are happy instead of sad, and safe instead of scared, and nice instead of mean. All because someone was strong enough to do what was right. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing... you're there and you're safe because of Rick Grimes."RCO059_1562157453.thumb.jpg.df97fb39a64266cfd89ffa430b0928e9.jpg
