  1. Just watch, we're going to see Youtube Movie Critics and Arin Hanson wearing this when the movie comes out, mark my words.
  2. I can't believe they're missing the perfect opportunity to release the new HP Lovecraft horror during the Halloween season.
  3. Level-headed, critical thinking Saturn: Sonic Advance 3 is a poorly designed, often frustrating game.

Also Saturn: Yeah but the MUSIC SLAPS

    1. Blacklightning

Isn't it kinda crazy that Chaos Angel has some of the worst level design in the history of the franchise but one of the best level themes to feature in it

    2. Tarnish

Ah, Sonic games of the early to mid 2000s...when at least the music was good. (Recalls the headbanging version of Green Hill Zone in Sonic Battle.)

  4. Huh, so there was supposed to be a live-action CG hybrid Sonic movie in the 90's? Apparently to advertise Sonic X-Treme. (See PatMac's new video)

Well, at least this movie isn't trying to advertise a game, right

You know it actually just occured to me that I haven't seen a licensed tie in game for anything in ages.

    3. Ferno

its because smartphone mobile gaming became a thing, now said licensed games don't even have to try as hard (in terms of making full console games) for quick tie-in cash now

  5. Their excitement is meaningless because 1) we still don't know what their role is and 2) they can still suck.
  6. So the 30th anniversary Sonic game will be good, right? There's simply no way Sega/Sonic Team would screw up on such a monumental occasion right? RIGHT?

      What od you think

    2. TheOcelot

Hopefully SEGA/Sonic Team won't make the 30th anniversary game. Perhaps Evening Star Studio will 😋

  7. It is rather upsetting to me personally that they find a role for a rapper that the target audience sure doesn't know, let alone or care about, but couldn't even contact Yuji Naka, one of three men who are pretty much the only reason this franchise ever got off the ground, for a small cameo.
  8. Yeah, I'm doubting that "all just a stunt" theory myself, too. There's no way they would spend millions on the art, animation, promotional material and merchandise, all just for that to be an elaborate trick. That doesn't make sense.
  9. It still boggles the mind how they've known that people hate the design so much for months now and only now decide that something must be done. I guess the problem got so bad they couldn't just ignore it anymore? I can't see how they couldn't have known until the trailer dropped.
  10. Ideally, next to none. But we don't live in an ideal world, so we'll see just how much this blows up in Sega's face.
  11. That would be ideal, but that will only get us so far. There are still plenty of kids (and adults!) who will eat up anything with Sonic's face on it regardless of actual quality, and this movie will still have defenders 15 years from now, and probably plenty of young adults and teenagers who are kids now that will look back fondly on it as "their" Sonic.
  12. There was a huge explosion a half hour ago that shook my house and basically the entire area. I thought my furnace exploded. But nope, apparently just a factory that was shooting out toxic fumes blew up.

I'm fine, still just a little shaken up.

    1. Tara

      Glad you're safe though!

    2. Kiah

That’s terrifying! Totally understandable that you’re shaken up over the matter.

I’m glad that you’re okay and I hope that you and everyone else in the area are too and that you all stay safe!

    3. SenEDDtor Missile

      SenEDDtor Missile

Try to minimize your time outside anywhere near the area where the fumes might be. Just cause it’s blown up doesn’t mean you know what could be in the air afterwards.

  13. http://www.tssznews.com/2019/03/04/live-action-sonic-film-design-revealed/ The why is simple - because this was a big investment for them and they'd like to see as many returns as possible.
  14. To my knowledge they really want to establish Movie Sonic as its own pillar alongside Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic. I don't imagine we'll see anyone but Sonic and Robotnik for this because gotta sequel bait somehow.
  15. I mean, what else is there to call it? It's such a radical departure from everything anyone ever knew about the character or the series.
  16. Basically this. A grand majority of people expect this movie to be crap because 1) It's a video game movie, and 9/10 of those suck, and 2) It's Sonic, being done by people in this day and age that clearly don't understand anything about the character. Just another addition to the ever growing pile of crap. And it's a big pile with a lot of room for more.
  17. He's at Square Enix, currently, the most recent game he was attached to was Rodea the Sky Soldier if I remember correctly.
  18. What really boggles my mind is how Sega is super strict with Sonic on all other media, especially the comics: Sonic can't cry, Sonic can't lose, we can't see anyone's family, no romantic relationships whatsoever, all that shit. So the million dollar question is, where the hell where they for this movie? Did the contracts demand they just fuck off?
  19. Let's not play the game of "keep moving the goalpost", okay? "We haven't seen the FULL design!" "It could look better in motion!" "it's just one trailer!" "Wait until the full movie comes out!" At what point does it become acceptable to just throw in the towel and admit something sucks?
  20. What makes me question if you are is how you have the audacity to come in here, insult us, insinuate that we're all just nitpicking and the design is our only problem with it, but in the same breath demand we accept it and your opinions. That's what's bothering people here. There are a few defenders and fans of the movie here. That's not the issue. How you present yourself, conversely, is.
  21. It brings me great joy that the review for Detective Pikachu are coming in and people are loving it.

    1. Sega DogTagz

      Sega DogTagz

3.5 / 5 is the first good videogame movie?

I knew the bar was low but jeez.

    2. Ruomarta

You do realize that a 3.5/5 is like a 70%. What did you expect a 90%?

    3. Milo

@Ruomarta a 90% metascore for a videogame film would be nice to see, yes.

that said...i suppose detective pikachu is a decent start towards that threshhold.

    4. Sega DogTagz

      Sega DogTagz

      Thats a C-

You've can't pass a test with a lower score than that. Its the bare minimum.

I'm just saying, if your gonna crown it as the best video game movie ever (which that reviewer did) - at what point is that a booby prize?

I won a 100m Dash the other day against a group of old guys who DNQ'd because they couldn't finish. Should I be lauded for that accomplishment? Can I parade that trophy around town? Its misleading.

    5. DreamSaturn

A C- on the American grading scale, sure. In most other countries that would be a great score.

  22. I love Sonic. Most of us here wouldn't be here if we didn't. And it's because we love the series that we don't accept just anything with his face on it because it has his face on it. This franchise can do better, it should do better.
  23. With all due respect, are you out of your fucking mind? I get that it can suck seeing something you like torn to shreds, but considering that this franchise has seen the most depressing of lows, I'm frankly not willing to accept that just because it's new and different.
  24. We joke but honestly at this point the movie seems beyond having anything worth salvaging. Another addition to the long list of Sonic things that can't be fixed so you may as well trash it and start over from scratch.
  25. Well, the current rumor mill is that Sega and Sonic Team didn't like the design, but the film crew or whoever the hell it is that's in charge of it ignored it.
