Classic Sonic in Forces feels like such an 11th hour addition. Like, he has zero significance to anything in the plot, four levels, and like...one boss? And another that's virtually just a reskin of that one?

Wow, Dimps...REALLY loved making the Chaos Emeralds just not worth the trouble of getting

I will absolutely not see the Joker movie unless he has a monologue about how we do, in fact, live in a society

Sonic Adventure DX (PC) is just about driving me up the wall.
Ever since a few days ago, basically everything I do just makes the game crash.
I made sure all the mods are up to date (mod loader included), tried running the game in windowed mode, tried running it in different resolutions, tried doing a complete, clean, re-install, tried verifying the integrity of the game files, tried running it without mods, tried disabling Steam, NVidia's, and Discord's overlays, and nothing works.

Broh job hunting sucks
I put down everything you'd think they wanna hear and I still get ghosted -
Man the Time Eater fight feels so super tacked on, gameplay and storywise. The Egg Dragoon feels way more like a final battle.

I see that boss as a personification of all the bad moments in the series; from sudden gameplay changes with poor execution, to completely useless side characters who never shut up. (Even if you disable tutorials, which is basically what that is.) It's like after being rewarded with the rest of the game that brings out the Best of Sonic, we have to pay for it by dealing with all the worst aspects rolled into one.
Frankly, it's also eerily prophetic for what happens to the franchise after this game: More bad gameplay, characters and junk. What a way to finish off a beautiful celebration of Sonic's past by giving players a glimpse into his "bright, sparkling" future.

was kinda nice seeing the Egg Dragoon fight in the way that Eggman probably originally intended it to. I remember reading in Unleashed's Eggman machine bios that he build it as the ultimate fighting machine against sonic or whatever but never accounted for the Werehog when building it originally, which is why it was easily torn apart by Sonic in that form. But in Gens its like Eggman technically has the upperhand that go around

Why didn't Scar just kill Simba when he was mourning over Mufasa's corpse
There were no witnesses and it's not like he had some moral objections to killing a child, he was trying to do that before he killed Mufasa anyway
-
couldn't make it look clean. mufasa fell and got trampled, looks like an accident. mauling simba himself would leave too much evidence and another "accident" would be suspicious.
also doesn't he sic the hyenas on simba anyway

@Diogenes what if he Stepped on Simba’s Head/throat and choke him to death?
-
in that case the lion crime scene investigators would surely notice the lack of hoofprints or related trauma and investigate further.
really the point isn't that there would be no possible way for scar to get away with killing him, but that he had ways of getting rid of him without (further) dirtying his hands

@Diogenes If there isn’t a lion who does the police siren. And there isn’t a ticker tape made from grass surrounding the crime scene, I’m gonna be mad.

History repeats itself. Much like with Andrew Garfield, another trilogy that could've been dies at #2 because of Sony's own shortsighted decisions.

i mean, half of me absolutely understands sony being sheepish about disney wanting to shoulder the financial burden less. they just got fox (and the related marvel film rights) and had a great box office this year; and yet now they want sony to co-finance the movies (whereas under the current deal sony handles marketing/distribution while marvel studios handles production and gets 5% of the first-dollar gross). i agree with what wraith said in a previous status that they're being greedy in that context
but the fact rothman --of fox marvel fame-- is playing the role in negotiations has the other half of me just laughing
-
@Milo Plus Disney got 100% of merch sales too.

I take it it's against the rules to say who was it?

@Zaysho It's not just this year.

@Balding Spider Fair, but I don't normally follow this stuff and I've just been hearing about it so often this year it's pretty surprising.

That tornado is carrying all the objects that came packed in with the engine that the developers couldn't fit in elsewhere!

I'm very confused what the endgame behind the Legacy of Solaris mod is. Like, sure, it's cool what they're adding (I'm a big fan of '06's E3 huds, love 'em, love 'em, love 'em) but like...it doesn't really seem like it's really "fixing" anything? Maybe it's just the fact that I haven't played it, but it seems like the same, barely functional, frustrating game at its core, just with prettier graphics and more to do.

It kills me inside that we'll never see Luke, Han and Leia reunite one last time
Unless they filmed that exact thing before Carrie Fisher died and have been saving it for this exact moment.
-
You know, Fisher filmed a lot of scenes for VII and VIII which will be used in IX. I'm gonna leave it at that.

I be perfectly willing for them to asspull making Han into a Force Ghost for no explained reason and without any warning if it meant fulfilling that desire.

Just thinking on this almost put me in tears, I don't think I'm prepared for Episode IX.
But Idk, Sequels have went in a totally different way from what I expected, an ok movie, a bad one and now I think I'm putting much hype for Episode IX which may end up disappoint me. I don't think it will fix all the other problems VII and VIII had, despite III did this with I and II.
But yeah, seems a very unlike scene to film Han, Leia and Luke together on Episodes VII and VIII and more unlike if Han and (Theoretically) Luke are dead.

Sometimes I wonder what Sonic Boom could've been if Sega hadn't tripped and fallen flat on their face walking out the door with it
-
I’d like to imagine if SEGA didn’t force them to release it on Wii U and let them use the planned consoles, the game would’ve resembled a better product.
Rise of Lyric failed on two fronts that messed the show up badly - one - it was meant to be a prequel explaining Boom Sonic’s origins, and how he met the rest of the group, as well as setting up lore for the series that would’ve portrayed it more than being a comedy (If the echidna and ancient hedgehog statues are any indication).
SEGA was counter intuitive about allowing an origin game, because Sonic Team was considering a origins thing and didn’t want it dictated by a Western company, despite the fact that Boom in general was literally designed to be a radically different approach by a Western company, so what they planned shouldn’t have mattered much to Sonic Team’s.
Really, it was the shift to Wii U that killed it though. It became a meme for being as bad as 06, and that spun off into a bad showing for the TV series and comic, which was far better.
-
@Ryannumber1gamer especially hilarious seeing as it's been 5 years and still no word on that origin story that SEGA was apparently so confident in doing that they fucked up a whole sub-franchise for it
-
@Vertical Snoop [D.K.] I'm thinking they probably wanted to continue the Generations trend while hitting the reset button. The next game after Gens would have been the origin game before they decided to scrap it and make a new game nothing to do with Sonic's origins.
-
I wish they gave Big Red Button more liverty with Boom. I feel like they could've made a pretty good (if not a great) game.
@Ryannumber1gamer Apparently they even had a time limit as the game had to be out by 2014. I'm not sure when they found out about this but apparently they had to crunch it to even get it out.
-
IIRC, there was two reasons, the Boom show, and the deal with Nintendo. SEGA wouldn't extend the deadline due to these. The unfortunate part is the project had time, and was running stupidly well on high end consoles.
Then SEGA demanded it ported to Wii U, an overhaul of the story. A game designed for PS4 and Xbox One on an engine designed specifically for those consoles had about a few months to get it ported and downgraded. It's no surprise it ended up how it did.

The show wasn't bad at all perhaps because it didn't even bother with the boring origins or lore shit that the OG game tried to hamstring together and just went the self contained cartoon approach. Was it a good thing that the games, comics and show all operated on different canons? Nope. But in hindsight it worked out for the best. It's all dead now so it doesn't really matter. I'm more interested in the amount of money that Sega wasted on this venture more than anything else
