No. Not everyone can write for an official book, that's expected to be well-written. What you're saying is disrespectful to actual writers.
You can't take random notes, put them together in InDesign and call it a day, to release such a book.

To be fair my first reaction was "I hope Sega doesn't see it as bots or spam." I didn't say it because there was nothing else to add and I didn't want to sound like a douchebag for those excited about it.
Some of the people in SEGA definitely knows about the hashtag but for those who have no idea, a bunch of users with same names may look like a prank/joke or some kind of malicious movement.
Do I have an alternative idea? Not really (aside from keep sending emails and stuff). But do I think it's not the best idea? Definitely.

This is something that has been in the works for several years, a special crossover cover with Sonic the Comic Online!  A special double-page spread that splits perfectly in half for both projects to use for the respective stories!  Special thanks to Drawloverlala, Marek Sterling, MamboCat, Adamis, Gilgalad and Pete Murphy for coming together to create this masterpiece!

I agree with the above statement. That be like in grad school. Sure we could hand notes off to anyone to write a paper but not everyone is going to write the preapproved material the same. Some are lucky to whip out a C to B paper but some with some sort of writing backing and knowledge of the subject already can make an A.

Plus, that same logic is why Pontac and Graff have such a poor reputation when it comes to writing for the games while Flynn is more well received by contrast due to knowing the games and characters more intimately.

Maybe because Ian has proved himself over 13+ years of writing for the comic, Sonic Boom, proved how versatile he can be (what with writing for several comic series at the same time) and is certainly more than able to take that task ? Writing a book like this is not something anyone could do.
I trust him far more on Sonic knowledge than Pontac and Graff; for example.

I keep getting people begging me to promote this.

    I keep ignoring the requests.

Basically, aside from a few pieces of drama that I've seen from some people involved with this which I don't want to touch at all... I just don't care about this campaign.

The main core fanbase for Archie comics is a subset of American Sonic fans, Comic Sally is a subset of that, outside of the US I don't think it's a stretch to say that most fans of Sally are the result of the TV Show SatAM and now Archie comic Sally, to a lesser extreme those who are curious about Sega World Sydney.
It'd be like Fleetway fans trying to get Shrotfuse or the evil Super Sonic into a mobile game, great for fans of Fleetway in Europe and the 1 or two who live outside the EU, for everyone else it'll be a case of *Shrugs* "Ok" or *Shrugs* "Why?"
This whole thing kicked off due to Tangle and Whisper getting more attention but... Yeah I don't blame them for including them, it was a great move, aside from the fact IDW is much easier to get worldwide, they've proven to be really popular characters, I don't even read IDW comics but I know roughly what Tangle and Whisper look and act like... Yet if someone asked me to name those new IDW Sonic villains it'd take me a few seconds just to think of their name, as for characterisation... Ain't got a clue, they're just that forgettable.
So my thoughts is, aside from adding Sally to make a few genuine fans go "OMG NO WAY!" and a large bulk of people going "OMG NO WAY" to get easy supporting points. I honestly think that for the bulk of people who play the game there's probably going to be more question marks over who that character is vs the IDW main stars.
And this isn't an attack on Archie or whatever characters are going to be the next campaign, if it were Fleetway comics for as much as I love those, outside of me going "OMG NO WAY!" I'd probably then think 'wait... other than me and the UK fans... who else is gonna get the hype for this?'

Edit: Talking about 'The Appeal' of this. You can actually see this in real time right now if you look. Tweet search #RallyForSally or "Rally4Sally" or any of the other 'official' hashtags from the main campaign account.

You'll see that for the last week the vast majority of posts about this come from the same 3 or 4 accounts, and the main campaign for this is also pulling quite low numbers =/
Even this topic had to rely on a misleading OP and a very misleading claim a few posts in, it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence if that's what it's currently doing.

We don't yet know who is responsible for both the repair and restoration or even who paid for it but... My God I didn't think this day would come!

If you have absolutely no idea as to what this is or the story behind it. I've been documenting it a lot on YouTube so check out this playlist for the full story on this boy.

My apologies for the double post, but this is something I feel that needs addressing-
I should like to remind everyone that contrary to what Penders is saying here, there really isn't an arrangement of any sort that would have benefited any of those companies. See, Penders didn't JUST want royalties. A long ass time ago he laid out exactly what he felt he should be reasonably entitled to, back in the days of the forum, and this here provides some keen insight into what Penders REALLY wanted from the lawsuit-
    http://web.archive.org/web/20140303010031/http://www.kenpenders.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2595
And since I know links to the archive can be funky here, here's the skinny of it-
Take note that this is less than two years after the trial concluded, and these are the kind of things Penders wanted- supervision over characters like Julie-Su, Locke and Lara-Su, with Lara-Su being 'untouchable', and effectively demanding that the future of 25YL as he wrote it be made into the One True Future for the comic book. In essence, he would be permitted to dictate terms to a book that he was no longer working on.
Likewise, there is also this little tidbit-
To say that this was staggeringly naive of Penders is an understatement. It is difficult to grasp that any grown man, let alone one who frequently claims to be some kind of insider into the inner workings of Hollywood and film production, would ever think something like this is reasonable. It is functionally a demand that SEGA invest a great deal of money funding a vanity film project that would feature niche characters from a single corner of their wider franchise, one that they themselves never saw fit to incorporate into the games proper, and then release that film, with absolutely no guarantee of making back what was put into it or turning any kind of profit.  All that in addition to Penders being permitted to use one of their flagship characters in nebulous 'various projects'.
So yeah, it must be re-iterated- the only person in all of this who is short sighted is Penders, and never forget that no matter what he says? What he ultimately wants is something that no company or corporation would ever reasonably give to any creative, regardless of how talented they are. And Penders is far, far, FAR from talented.

    * He recently asked me to translate the story. Which I did. In 2017. He forgot and was ready to pay a second time for that work.
