  1. On a side note, is anyone else getting sick of these remasters/ports this gen? It’s starting to feel like game companies are just too lazy, and just randomly rerelease older titles because they know people will buy it regardless, and that comes off as extremely scummy to me.

It's ironic how people are only calling out Disney for remake over-saturation and nostalgia pandering when the game industry is going through the exact same phase.

Wonder what Crash has to say about the hellhole he's started...

I agree most mediums rely a bit too much on franchises sometimes but I don't think remakes are that much of a problem (especially in games). A well made remake is probably going to be more successful than a straight rerelease anyway--in fact as far as comparing initial sales goes at least, IIRC we saw that with the N. Sane Trilogy?--and the reason that matters to me is that I like to see more people try out neat games.

That it means more profits for the companies matters less than 0 to me, but eh.

Better than paying $100+ to some jackoff on ebay for an old game that I probably didn't get to play back then.

It’s not remakes I have an issue with. Those usually change things enough that they feel like totally new games.

It’s the remasters that are the issue to me.

But what's wrong with paying 20$ a year for a collection of totally hip NES Classics instead of a robust library full of over twenty years worth of past gen console and handheld installments?
