  1. My daily routine recently is doing nothing for six hours, napping for six hours, and continuing doing nothing for the last 12 hours.

I need to be more productive

  2. l get a lot of the reasons why people don’t like PS Now, and really, it’s not really a service I would subscribe to.

But considering it’s the only way I can play stuff like Metal Gear Rising and A Crack In Time on PS4, I’m a bit more forgiving towards it, lol

I've just finished a 1 month free trial.

I think it's amazing and I'm seriously considering swapping ps+ to just have ps now!

  3. Managed to get a hold of another PSNow trial. Sony really hands those things out like candy, do they?

Anyways, recommend me some PS3 games to try out if you can. Just note that not every PS3 game is on there, though.

  4. Riders had such nice artwork. Shame there wasn’t much of it.

The heavy shading is so cool, that I've been trying to mimic it in my art.

I absolutely love it. I really love how stylized it is. Its a shame that the actually game didn't look like that.

They did this art style for some pictures and the opening animation, then never used it again for the entire Riders series and went with the generic CGI cutscenes...so, what was the point of it exactly if they didn't commit to it?

      it was literally trending, lol.

Not that it matters, anyways, since Twitter seems to have taken care of it now.

You can argue it refers to the different Wisp colors and all, there's still some kind of logic behind that.

    6. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

When I first saw a topic titled "Sonic Colours announced for Wii and DS", I  honestly didn't think that it was a game title. I thought someone was talking about Sonic themed Wii and DS systems.

      It's a fairly strange name.

    7. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

I still remember initially thinking that it was some sort of drawing sim.

    8. JezMM

      JezMM

It does have a tinge of offbeatness to it, but that did really help to make it a memorable title when worded started to spread that "hey this one is good guys!!"

    9. Soniman

      Soniman

I honestly thought it was a edutainment toddler game when I first heard the name and saw the logo with no context lol

  10. Wow, the Heroes models look.. very weird without the shininess of them.

I must be too used to it, though.

    1. Ferno

      Ferno

their eyes remind me of alot of 3D fan animations where the models never have any light in their eyes and look kinda creepy as a result

    2. TCB

      TCB

      what makes this 'advanced'

other than the plastic wrapping off the models, different music and the HUD looking slightly different...?

  11. Console to GBA conversions were always weird.

  14. Knuckles’ Chaotix is bad, lol.

    3. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

It's not great fun. The level design is incredibly repetitive and empty. But I think that there was probably a good idea in there with the rubber-band gameplay.

Gameplay will always be the most important part of whether or not a game is good, so Chaotix unfortunately falls short. But it has to be stated just for good the music and visuals are.

  15. Oh, right. Epic Battle Fantasy 5 came out some time ago. I have to give that a try at some point. 4 was really fun.

You just brought up a lot of nostalgic memories of playing the first 3 games on Newgrounds. I didn't get half of the references, since I was only 10. Now eight years have passed by. Goddamn...

  16. At this point, I’m pretty sure everybody else including Capcom themselves had completely forgotten this show even existed, so yeah. The fact there isn’t going to be a second season isn’t the least bit surprising.
  17. I like Tekken 4, sue me.

  18. It’s funny how despite it being one of the only Sonic games that don’t give you a extra life upon 100 rings, Colors is also one of the easiest Sonic games to get 99 lives in. That game seriously hands them out like candy.

  19. There’s an barbecue about to happen outside.

I... wish I knew why anyone would have barbecue during the Winter, but whatever. Free burgers for me.

      RIP.

Although, the game isn’t exactly expensive, so buying a new copy shouldn’t be much of a hassle.

  21. Oh, sweet. Didn’t realize Mario and Sonic Tokyo 2020 was one of the games on sale on the eShop. 34$ is a much better price for it than 60$, so I’ll definitely get it through there.

  22. Beat Little Big Adventure 2. That was a pretty good game. I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It definitely aged in some areas, but the general charm of it made it worth playing.

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Nice one. Which aspects of the game or specific areas did you find had aged poorly in particular?

    2. Menace2Society

      Menace2Society

Well, for one, the combat isn’t very good... at all. It does get a bit more tolerable when you get the extra weapons and spells, but the game probably would have been better without it.

That’s the big one, but I’m also not super keen with the camera system. It’s not necessarily bad, but it’s annoying having to frequently press Enter to get a better angle on where you’re going, especially when you’re trying to some platforming. The CGI is also super ugly, but that was expected from 1997. The technology for better CGI wasn’t exactly there at the time.

I thought the tank controls would be an issue, but no, it wasn’t that much of a bother. It’s probably because of the game’s usage of fixed cameras. I always thought tank controls kinda worked better in games that used those cameras.

Other than that, yeah. The game was pretty solid, and I may give it a replay in the future. Makes me wonder how the first one is in comparison.

    3. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

The combat is terrible. Whoever gets who into a stun-lock first wins usually. The protection spell lets you cheese through combat. It doesn't make it any better, but it at least lets you bypass the frustrations of it. Got forbid you actually need to use your Magic Ball to target enemies at range, cause aiming is the worst thing ever.

One of the biggest things that bugs is animation wind-ups. The controls are responsive, but it takes a while for Twinsen to actually do anything. He has a wind-up to running, to jumping, to attacking, to throwing his Magic Ball or even shooting the laser pistol. It's an aspect of realism that games nowadays always forgo because it's not fun. Especially in the face of combat or precision platforming (i.e. across the lava on the Island of the Volcano) it can mess you up.

The first game is entirely isometric, like the insides of buildings in the sequel. The puzzles are more obtuse, and there are enemies everywhere. The combat is no better so you'll constantly be planning out how best to avoid enemies. I don't think it's as good, but it's still solid.

If you ever try it, I pretty much insist you look into downloading a trainer/mod/cheat table. Why? The game has wall damage. Run into a wall, and you'll take damage. It's really, really awful. Or if that's not your cup of tea, there's actually a pretty good mobile port, where it's been adapted to be a bit more of a point and click game. You tap to move Twinsen to that spot, tap enemies to approach and attack them automatically in aggressive mode (they go down in a single hit in the mobile port), drag to jump or throw the Magic Ball... It's very playable.

I see. I might give the first one a go then, just not anytime in the future. It sounds like it’d be a little bit more annoying to play compared to the second, and I really don’t feel like dealing with a more unpolished game so soon. Good to know the mobile port is decent, although I’d probably end up playing it on PC instead.

  23. My sleeping schedule is so fucked, ughhhh.

Me too... gotta fix it before school starts in a few days. It's easy to screw it up when you're on break

  24. Holy shit, I just noticed I won another day. That’s 2 so far. Cool.

Although, looking at the date I won, it seems like barely anything was actually posted then, so that just makes the win less exciting. Oh, well.
