  1. How old is Penders now? Personally I feel that if he doesn't get this out in the next four to five years then it's probably never going to come out.
  2. Hard to believe that it's almost been 10 years since this legal shit started, and this is still no closer to getting released.
  3. Still miss this comic series despite all it's flaws.
  4. God I remember how Archie Sonic had no many stupid parody zones(universes)as part of their multiverse. Sally Moon was very fucking stupid. I remember that someone on Bumbleking joked about those zones getting destroyed during Eggman Nega's war with the Zone Cops.
  5. The whole "Two Worlds" nonsense. It just makes no sense, and there's nothing in the games that hints at it. It really feels like something Sega just made up out of the blue. Just really bad world building.
  6. Probably my favorite Archie Sonic moment, from issue 220.
  7. I liked the Bunnie x Antoine pairing. It was nice to see a positive comic book marriage especially since since the big two(DC and Marvel)really seem to hate marriage nowadays.
  8. How long has Penders been working on "The Republic" now? I remember him first talking about it back in 2010 just before all the legal shit started, and I remember watching the sneak peak(it's shit, trust me) of "The Republic" when he posted it on Youtube back in 2011. It's 2018 now, and 2020 is only a few years away so ten years I guess. Yeah I think that it's safe to say that it's never coming out.
  9. Sad that I can't make the Satam/Archie Sonic characters in Sonic Forces character maker.

    1. Polkadi~☆

      Polkadi~☆

      You can make Bunnie. Sorta.

    2. Jack at Home

I made Bunnie and there is a mod for her too it you have it on PC.

    3. Big Panda

      Big Panda

You have to be a bit creative, but you can probably just barly make Sally and Antoine.

    4. Jack at Home

      Jack at Home

Sally as an hedgehog, perhaps? And Antoine as a dog?

    5. NikoS

      NikoS

      Bunnie mod

Also i made 'Twan (sorta) as a wolf.

    6. Blacklightning

      Blacklightning

After all that horseshit about the Avatar being made for self-inserts, it's a fucking crime that the customization system ultimately turned out so damned shallow in the end.

  10. Robotnik sounds better to me since it sounds villainous. Eggman doesn't sound like a villain name to me.
  11. Issue 12 A Timely Arrival written by Michael Gallagher Dr. Robotnik decides to get rid of Sonic by using a time machine. Sonic ends up in prehistoric Mobius and meets his ancestor Sonugh the Boghog, and his friends who are basically just cavemen versions of the freedom fighters. They are living in fear of the evil caveman Ivo Robughnik, and are planning on going underground to hide from him. This causes Sonic to worry that he'll evolve into "Sonic the Mole" instred of a hedgehog. Meanwhile on Mobius Prime the freedom fighters steal Robotnik's time machine in the hope that they can bring back Sonic. Back in prehistoric Mobius, Sonic teaches the freedom fighters ancestor's how to plant hedges so that they can use them as hiding places, and Sonic gets sent back to his own time. Another boring story. Plus this story is basically non-canon due to the fact that we later learn that Mobius is a post apocalyptic Earth. Bold-Headed Eagle written by Angelo DeCesare Sonic falls off a cliff and meets an eagle named Cyril. Cyril's people were roboticized by Robotnik, and Cyril has survived by hiding, and believes that he's the last remaining member of his flock.. Sonic encourages Cyril to try flying again. Cyril lands on a branch that was under his nest and finds more birds from his flock that were basically under his nose the whole time(dumb written). Robotnik and Snively arrive in their rambot. The rambot knocks Sonic off the cliff, and Sonic is saved by Cyril. Another boring story. The Lynx is a Jinx! written by Angelo DeCesare Sonic meets Larry Lynx who has bad luck, and brings bad luck to the people that he meets. Robotnik captures the freedom fighters, but in the end Larry's bad luck saves the day. Kind of boring, but this is the best of the three stories that's in this issue.
  12. Personally I'm not a fan of the whole "Two Worlds" thing. To me it just makes things more complicated.
  13. Again most of those characters that you just mentioned(other than Honey Fang, Bean, Bark, Mighty, and Ray since I doubt that Sega cares about those characters)can't have character development.
  14. As I've said before I feel like characters such as the freedom fighters are needed to provide character development to the book since the Sega characters can't really change. A pure Sega Sonic book would be boring.
  15. Issue 11. He's finally here. Issue 11 is the first Archie Sonic book to have stories written by Ken Penders. Issue 11 is really not that different than past stories. It's still pretty silly compared to Penders later work. Co-writing alongside Penders is Mike Kanterovich. Originally Archie was worried that Michael Gallagher had plans to leave the book so Archie wanted another writer so they could have back-up stories on hand. Mike Kanterovich didn't know anything about Sonic the Hedgehog, but he was friends with Ken Penders, and he knew that Penders had a young son who was a big sonic fan. Main Story: "The Good, the Bad, and the Hedgehog" written by Mike Kanterovich and Ken Penders The Freedom Fighters find one of Dr. Robotnik's factories polluting the river. Sally calls Sonic using a wrist watch. Sonic is far away so he decides to take a shortcut by using the Cosmic Interstate, but ends up taking a wrong turn and ends up in the Anti-Mobius world. It's Penders first story and already we have the multiverse in the Sonic comics. Sonic meets that worlds version of Robotnik who is a kind Veterinarian. Anti-Robotnik orders his patients to catch Sonic. Sonic escapes and bumps headfirst into Anti-Sonic. Anti-Sonic than destroyes the whole pacing of this story to explain the different worlds. Sonic tricks Anti-Sonic into following him to Anti-Robotnik's clinic where Anti-Sonic gets captured. Sonic than explans everything to Anti-Robotnik. Sonic returns to Mobius, and uses a device that Anti-Robotnik give him to suck up the sludge from Robotnik's factory. Fun fact: Originally Evil Sonic was going to be Dr. Sonic and be the Anti world's version of Robotnik, but Sega made Penders and Kanterovich change it. Personally I think that Sega made the right call here. Also this is the only story where Anti-Robotnik is as fat as Robotnik Prime. In every other story that he appears in he will be shown to be thin. Back-Up story: "Beat The Clock" written by Mike Kanterovich and Ken Penders Coconuts kidnaps the Freedom Fights to use as bait for Sonic. He wants to make Robotnik's "Top 10 Badniks" list. Sonic saves the day. All in all boring story. Fun fact: Originally it was Crabmeat, but Sega told Penders and Kanterovich to change it to Coconuts to tie-in with the AOSTH cartoon. Second Back-Up story: "Food for Thought" or "You Are What You Eat" written by Mike Kanterovich and Ken Penders It's Sonic's birthday and he has a bad acid Chili Dog trip. It's bad.
  16. Issue 10. The Freedom Fighters meet the Nerbs. It's a bad story. Also the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles make a cameo. Back-Up story. The Freedom Fighters are riding in Antoine's hot air ballon looking for a picnic spot. They are attacked by Dr Robotnik's Buzzbombers who pop Antoine's balloon. The other Freedom Fighters tell Antione that his hot air balloon is too outdated to be of any help to the Freedom Fighters in their war against Robotnik. This makes Antoine sad. The Buzzbombers return to Robotropolis to tell Robotnik about their attack on the Freedom Fighters. Robotnik wants to know what the Freedom Fighters are up to, and Snively says that they are probably looking for a place to hold their annual picnic. Tails and Antoine talk about the balloon crashing, and Antoine decides to try again, and show the other Freedom Fighters that his balloon is not useless. The Freedom Fighters are attacked by Robotnik and his Badniks, and Antoine saves the day. Wow!!!!!! This story is kind of good. It's still goofy, but the characters personality's stand out way more in this story. Also Robotnik's lair now looks different. It's not an office in this story. His lair now looks like it's Satam counterpart.
  17. Also Sega of America wasn't the only one "making stuff up". Nintendo of America did the same with Mario. NOA canon had Mario and Luigi being from Brooklyn who end up in the Mushroom Kingdom when they get sucked down a warp zone during a plumbing job. Nintendo of America also changed character names. King Koopa became Bowser. Princess Peach's name was changed to Princess Toadstool. NOA were also the ones who give the Koopalings their names. Originally the Koopalings didn't have names in the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros 3(which is the reason why DIC give them different names in "The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3" cartoon).
  18. Giving that it took till 1999 for Sega to standardize their canon they must have not really cared about this so called "lack of communication". Also can we please not use words such as "real Sega of Japan". It just sounds so elitist. Sega of America is just as real as Sega of Japan. They're the same company just different branchs.
  19. I'm pretty sure the changes were made by Sega of America so technically they were made with Sega's approval. At the time each branch of Sega had the freedom to change things about Sonic to make the franchise more popular for each region.
  20. Issue 9. Using all of the data that he has on Sonic, Dr Robotnik creates a robot version of Sonic called Pseudo Sonic. Meanwhile the real Sonic is picking flowers for Sally, but ends up accidentally getting exposed to poison sumac. Antoine mistakes Pseudo Sonic for the real Sonic and lets him into Knothole Village. Pseudo Sonic starts to tell Robotnik where Knothole is but Tails stops him by running in a circle around Pseudo Sonic. Robotnik has been triangulating the area of Pseudo Sonic's last transmission and comes across the weaken Sonic, but Bunnie saves him from Robotnik. Meh story. Sonic never even meets Pseudo Sonic. Back-up story. Sonic's picking flowers for Sally's birthday and a Mobian Needle Bird falls on his head. Sonic names the bird Thorny and decides to give him to Sally as a gift.Sally thinks that it could be another animal that Robotnik has booby trapped. To make matters worst Thorny eats Sally's birthday cake. Sally goes the forrest to pick some berries to make more birthday cake, and Sonic goes to return Thorny to his nest. Just then Sonic hears Sally scream. She has been grabbed by one of Robotnik's robots that was disguised as a tree. Sonic and Thorny save her. Afterwards Sally names Thorny an honorary member of the freedom fighters(Thorny will never appear in the book again. Also there's a one page comic about a badnik so scary that Robotnik orders it destroyed. Just another boring issue.
  21. Issue 8. After one of Dr. Robotnik's Swatbots catches Crabmeat reading Sonic comics, Robotnik decides to create superhero theme robots to fight Sonic. The humor works a little better here than in past issues. There's plenty of jokes about the state of the comics industry. As a child of the 90's I understand the jokes, but I very much doubt that the target audience at the time did. Crabmeat looks cute in this panel. In the back-up story Snively(first real appearance)comes up with a device that will shrink people though it only last for one hour. Sonic and the freedom fighters break one of Robotnik's rules(no music). Robotnik uses Snively's device on the freedom fighters and shrinks them. He than tries to suck them up with a vacuum that has a built in roboticizer. Just when it looks like Robotnik is going to win Snively's device wears off(fast hour), and the freedom fighters drive off Robotnik by playing some music. Another meh issue.
  22. Continuing my reread just did issue 7. Main story is about Sonic and the Freedom Fighters looking for Uncle Chuck's lost treasure which turns out to be Sonic's bronzed baby shoes. The back up story is even stupider. The freedom fighters are dressed up for the annual Fright Night Party. Sally dresses up as a sorceress and decides that she needs to go out and find a magic stick to complete her look. Robotnik sees her and thinks that she's a real sorceress and falls in love with her and wants to marry her so that they can rule Mobius together. Sonic ends up saving Sally of course. Good god these stories are fucking terrible.
  23. I've only played the 3DS version of Sonic Generations which I enjoyed. As far as Sonic Colors goes I never really thought that it was a good game. It felt way too safe to me. Sonic only, lighty sillyer story, final destination only. It had it's moments Planet Wisp was a good level, but all in all it's not a Sonic game that I find myself really wanting to replay. I often find my self going back and replaying Sonic Adventure 1&2, and Shadow the Hedgehog over Colors.
  24. Satam, and the pre-reboot issues of Archie Sonic are my favorite Sonic universes. I prefer Sonic to be serious over the sillyer Sonic universes.
  25. As someone who's favorite parts of the franchise are Satam, pre-reboot Archie Sonic, Adventure 1&2, and the Shadow game, in recent years I've wondered about this as well. I still think that a Sonic game with a serious story can work, but would the general gaming public accept another Sonic game with a darker story.
