Edward850 reacted to Saint Nathan in Sonic Generations : General Hacking Thread
Actually looking at it, lets go by the idea that Generation actually DOES have no variety. Using the logic I've seen so far, we'll look at the other games why don't we?

What about the classic Sonic games then?

Sonic 1 then has one grass level, two ruins levels, two city levels, and one factory level that also has some ruins in it.

Sonic 2 has even LESS "variety", Three grass stages (one of which is also sort of water), one casino, one cave, and the rest are Eggman's bases.

Sonic 3&K ends up having the most variety, but guess what? It's an outlier.

Sonic Adventure, one beach, one grass stage, one ruin, and one ice stage. The rest are city stages or Eggman bases.

Sonic Adventure 2, Several city stages, a few ruins/moutains/ghost train what, and then everything is space.

Heroes also comes out with just about every level being different. Once again, obviously an outlier.

Shadow yeah everything is a burning city or the inside of a meteor.

Unleashed, most places are civilized. Excluding Holoska, Adabat, and Eggmanland? Everything is a city.

Colors everything is a theme park ride.

NOW WE HAVE GENERATIONS, which contains a grass level, a two ruins, five city stages, and a grassy theme park.

In retrospect, it's actually pretty much the same in terms of variety.

Now, if you look at it in a diffrent way, yes they're cities but hey would you look at that they're all completely different otherwise, suddenly, yeah the other games have more variety also.

I'm going to TL;DR this for you guys, and I'm going to put it in big letters so it's very clear, and I don't do that kind of shit usually. It's not yelling at anyone, don't change my tone in your head, I'm simply making it bigger so it's clearer, because this post is looking kinda weird and possibly hard to follow.

Don't hold Generations up to standards you don't hold the other games up to. If you think Generations has no variety don't complain about the other games having more because they sure as fuck do not half the time. The other half they have JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE. In which case, once again what the fuck are you complaining about.

I fail to understand Sonic's fanbase. If its not canon, why discuss it? If Sonic is not paired with, example, Rouge (or any other derisory paring one may come up with), why assume they should be? It's clearly not a direction the character development is going, so why bother about it? If anything, it just seems like overactive wishful thinking. If Sega want to do something with it, let them do that, otherwise you just look foolish.
So I would love someone to explain to me why this should be otherwise.

On Something slightly more on topic. I'm not exactly sure what pairings I support (or see developed on). Sonic/Amy has always been one that takes main focus, and therefor most interesting, but I'm not sure if developing on it would work very well without seeming awakward. Shadow/Rouge seems just as (if not more) interesting, but its hard to tell if thats a pairing or a friendship. I don't know, perhaps that status Que is fine as it is.

Looking awesome so far. Does Tails follow you, or is he just made to sit there? Also it seems to me that this would be great in Co-oP. Any plans for that?

I never said Sega minded (Quite frankly, I don't think enough fan related content reaches them, but whatever). While yes, I could ignore this thread, you will note that I came here asking a question, to which you have failed to answer me. Yes, as a person, you can come up with your own ideas to how things should work, but the concept is that its not your idea to begin with, so your altering it in a way that presents a problem. You could like Sonic/Tails, but everything points to otherwise. There is nothing to point towards them liking each-other, and there is certainly nothing saying that they are gay either. You have modified the characters to the point that its no longer them, so how does that work? (spoiler alert: it doesn't). It's gone beyond being creative to the point that your just being plain silly. At which point you should keep it to yourself.

But its not really your thing to say what they should be doing. I don't recall you coming up with those characters, so why should you annoy everybody else with it? Fan-Fiction is one thing (assuming it stays within the bounds of what we already know is correct), and Fan-Art is just that, so nothing wrong with it either (well, some of it anyway), but Fan-Parings goes directly against what currently is, and has been. Simplified: "I don't recall them being together, so why don't you keep that strange idea to yourself?"
