What a failure. He can't even blame that on the game. He clearly doesn't understand how jumping works.

I just want to get this out there.
Everything that involves getting from point A to point B is linear.
It doesn't matter how many different ways you can get to point B. It doesn't matter how wide-open a level is; if you're going from point A to point B it is linear.

So with that out of the way, this game looks like it will be fun.
If its so wrong to be "drooling" over a Sonic game that ma be fun for the first time in ages I really don't know what we should be drooling over.

Not every game can be so revolutionary that it is drool worthy. Mario Galaxy was revolutionary. Mario Galaxy 2 was better, but it wasn't revolutionary anymore, because its prequel had already set the foundation.
Its not bad that SEGA are trying to use what worked. Every video game company does this. They find a formula that works and spam it to all heck; making minor cosmetic changes and adding slightly new gameplay elements with each new installment to remove tedium.
Thats how gaming works I'm afraid.

    SEGA....those sneaky buggers.
    What are they hiding.

    So many possibilities.

Also, when did SEGA ever become so.....good.
Just a few years ago they were stingy bitches.
    Did any managment changes occur.

If any did, then it certainly looks to be in our favour.

Yes, but it is a valid conclusion.

SA1 was made - Fans wanted a better story
SA2 was shown at E3 - Fans complained about a lack of Tails.
SA2 was remade and now included tails - Fans thought it shouldn't be in the real world, and they should return to classic level styles
Sonic Heroes was made - Fans said it was too childish, and wanted something more serious
Shadow the Hedgehog was made - Fans thought it was TOO serious and guns were fail. They now wanted a return to roots
Sonic 06 was [half] made - Fans thought it was a pile of garbage and needed to improved.
Sonic Unleashed was teased/leaked - Fangasms
Sonic Unleashed was released - fans did not like the Werehog, they wanted another return to roots
    Sonic "needlemouse" Announced - fangasms
Sonic 4 revealed - Most fans happy, but alot complained about "ugly" Green-eyed Sonic, made a crappy petition, nobody cares about
Sonic 4 leaked - Fans say physics are bad and music sucks
Sonic 4 leaked again - Fans complain EVEN MORE about physics, and now there was a mine-cart
Sonic 4 delayed to remove minecart etc. and improve physics - Some fans are pleased, other fans don't beleive it, and think SEGA are tolling
Sonic Colours comes from the left feild and blows people away - Fans happy. Some fans complain about the fact that it resembles the well recieved Unleashed Day-stages

I'd say fans have had some kind of influence over the decisions made with regards to the Main Sonic games.
Yes its SEGA's fault for not finishing the games and making sure they were good.
However, you can't deny how polarised the fanbase's desires were. complaining about something and demanding a change.

Though, knowing you, you'll probably shoot this down

    OK....so?

OK.....thats exactly what Colours has done, minus the Knuckles and Tails playability. Where's the problem?

What does that have to do with gameplay and the quality of the title? You don't like aliens, OK, but that doesn't affect gameplay AT ALL...
    Again, where's the problem?

So what else could they have used to give power-ups? Mushrooms?.....Oh....wait
And you do get to control them. You can easily control the Drill power-up (You can't even do that in SMG2, that drill just goes straight down, but thats for another day)
The Cyan laser is like the "light-dash" from SA1 and SA2. Except you can charge it and aim it at mirrors to gain access you an alternate part of the level. I think that's pretty original if you ask me.

Other than power-ups (this includes the drill), how has Sonic ripped off Mario Galaxy? Don't say "He's copying Mario because its set in space" Sonic went into space several times before Mario Galaxy was even conceived. That argument is invalid. In fact, as many people have mentioned, its theme is more like Ratchet and Clank...

So you hate it because its like Unleashed and has aliens. It has all the stuff you wanted Unleashed to be; surreal environments; colour; fantastical level design, yet you still hate it. You haven't really covered what exactly you hate about the gameplay, other than its similarities to Unleashed, and even then it isn't exactly the same. And complaining about food based levels, is that really a flaw? The complaint about power-ups not being controlable is invalid, because they are controllable, save for onw it seems.
So basically, you hate the game for no reason other than "Unleashed!!1! and Aliens!!1!"

Sonic smiles in nearly every piece of CGI artwork there is. Go and take a look.

SO, I've covered your unecessary bias, the fact that your complaints have minimal relevance to the gameplay and the fact that half your arguments about gameplay don't even apply.
YES it is similar to Unleashed, both level-design wise and graphically, but thats where the similarities end. The gameplay has been changed significantly. There is a lot more platforming and less of a focus on blinding speed.

I think you are done here. I think I'll have fun playing this game, whilst you sulk in corner.

Sorcery put all of Microsofts Launch titles to shame...big time.
All Microsoft could do was clone the Wii "Gimmick" games, like Wii sports.
At least Sony came up with original content.
They also packed a HUGE knockout punch, now that they have Valve's support. I can finally play Portal.

Sony gets an A from Me. Montages were irritating, but I was very pleased by what I saw. A few surprises...even to me.

Nintendo gets an A +. They edge it, but only because of Goldeneye.

Microsoft gets a C. It wasn't bad, but so much hype for nothing.

In my opinion, Nintendo and Sony have joint victory. Microsoft were crushed. No two ways about it.

Sorry I had to make that joke.

I have to say, I'm liking the Xbox 360 slims design. Just so long as its oeleophobic (no fingerprints)
    FINALLY built in wireless.

Its a waste considering they may well be replacing that console soon.

Unless of course Microsoft planned on having the 360 hold out till 2014 aswell....

Why. If they just boosted engine capabilities, or just put in the Hedgehog rendering engine in SA1, then they could support the newer models.
Making new models for the other characters shouldn't be too hard either.

Once thats done, all they need to so, is programme the lip-syncing, so that Sonic doesn't look retarded.

Why won't the new model work?

Partly, but back then they weren't thinking.
No we have the Sonic Unleashed model. Which is superior to the original. We also have Unleashed Textures, which are also superior to the original.

What made DX bad, was the fact that it hade more gliteches than the original.....isn't the Directors Cut supposed to remove bugs and glitches?

The thing is. This game won't be bad.

The critics wil love this game, because its 2D.

It won't be a bad game.

The question is, will it be AMAZING.?
The question is, will it give the fans the nostalgia and glory they felt back in the days of the Mega Drive?

To many, no. Some are looking through not rose-coloured glasses, but shit coloured glasses. They've seen so much of it [in their opinion] that every time they see a Sonic game, beit good or bad, they instantly say "CRAP"
It seems that those few are so blinded by love/hatred for Sonic the Hedgehog that they WANT the new games to be bad so that they can hold thier dear Mega Drive games up high on their pedestal.

I for one, want Sonic 4 to be better than S3K. Whether or not this will be true, is yet to be seen. But I hope, mainly because Sonic deserves it, but partially because I want those ludicrously hateful fans be proven wrong.
