Time Eater is probably the worst boss in a modern Sonic game, tbh - although I haven't tried to beat Dark Gaia in a while, that's at least functional. You just can't see shit on the screen during Time Eater. Hope you don't need rings, because they're hidden behind acres of effects and text boxes.
Another bad thing about Generations - Lightspeed dash is weird in that game, I feel like I have to mash the Y button constantly because just tapping the button is no guarantee. Oh, and Planet Wisp, because I LOVE YOU STARLIGHT CARNIVAL.

Actually... that's not why they do it. It's an age rating thing.
If you have a cartoon which shows 'guns' being fired, it can't be broadcast at certain times, but lasers are usually ok since they're completely fictitious.
It's like how in the 90's spiderman cartoon, aside from the super villains, technology is quite '90's except for the police who are armed and readily fire laser pistols. I think the 80's/90's turtles suffered from this, for some reason I think in an early episode a machine gun is fired, then in later seasons the bullets are replaced by lasers.

DAMMIT KONAMI! You had something! You had a good idea! A game about the remnants of MSF fighting for survival after the events of Ground Zeroes is a really neat concept, but then you had to go throw in zombies and alternate universes, things which just don't gel all that well with Metal Gear canon. Why not just set it on the ruins of Mother Base, make it a bit of a throwback to the earlier titles where you infiltrated a single facility. As for enemies, Peace Walker established that there were already tensions within MSF that could have easily boiled over after XOF cut off the head of the snake; your enemies could simply be other members of MSF who split off into their own faction and went a bit nutty. The player's faction is trying to reach the bottom of Mother Base and recover ZEKE so that they can use it to escape and get help from the mainland but the enemy faction doesn't want them to, because they've attached an almost religious significance to the Metal Gear (keeping up those Lord of the Flies parallels from Phantom Pain) and don't want anyone to "defile" it.
If Konami is really hung up on the zombie thing they can still incorporate it. MGSV already established that surviving MSF member went batty in a way that caused them to act vaguely zombie-like and given the circumstances it's not unreasonable to think that some of the MSF members might turn to cannibalism to survive. Combine the two and you get zombies (only about ten million times creepier than actual zombies). Hell, if that's still not zombiesque enough for them they could always say that Skullface unleashed a prototypical form of the Skulls parasite on Mother Base resulting in, you guessed it, zombies.
Five minutes. Five minutes and I've come up with a better game than Konami.

Awww man, I missed the third party debate. But I'll chime in anyway.
It's a prisoner's dilemma thing. Yes, a third party candidate could absolutely win this election... but it's the same in any other. People have to actually turn out.
Ross Perot probably would have been President with 40% of the popular vote had everyone turned out for him. Instead, only 20% of the vote went to him, as most bought into the two-party system and switched their vote by Election Da.
Going third party is an all or nothing bet. Yes, you can win much bigger, but you also run the risk of being a spoiled vote. In the end, most make the rational decision: pick one of the two realistic candidates. Plus, there's tactics here: you can always promise an opposite-minded person to go third party... and vote for a major party anyway, giving your side the advantage.
Really, until we have preference voting, don't bother with third parties barring some incident that really gets them off the ground. It's possible we'll see third parties gain in strength in future elections, but they will need local/state power first. There are several multi-party first past the post systems, but you need local power. Once third parties gain a few Governorships, cities, etc. (and hold them), a third party President/Congress becomes realistic. It's very telling Bernie Sanders, an independent, signed on to the Democratic Party just to try for the nomination.
Now then. I have seen a lot of people make a principled stand against voting for Clinton on the basis of corruption or the like. I have thought on this, and I have a way to tear this down. You don't want to enable the system. You don't want to vote for the lesser evil.
But, here's the thing. You live in a capitalist society. The moment you agree to a job, you're already enabling the system. You tell your boss it's okay if he confiscates the bulk of the fruits of your labor, on the basis that this option is preferable to being a hermit (yay, you're free! ..oh crap, now you have to provide for your needs in practically everything) or risking injury to yourself in the form of protest and revolution. You are already choosing the lesser evil in your day to day life, because that is what this society requires you do to be a part of it. You could absolutely be the visionary who tries to change the system... but chances are you will still work within it.
Voting Clinton is par the course. Until the capitalist system is torn down, you will always be choosing the lesser evils in your life decisions. To be frank, to me, it seems voting third party or abstaining from voting is simply a way to try and convince oneself one has some real power in this socioeconomic model when really... one does not. Not much at all.
Change requires collective action and decisionmaking (consider this: our political system and North Korea's are both based on complacency, because it is disadvantageous to go against the system due to a lack of guarantee others will do the same). Until we come together as a collective, we will have first past the post, capitalism, a two-party system, the works. These are all big things to change, so... start small. While backing the Democrats nationally, back third parties locally. More specifically, push towards political reform that will give third parties an equal footing - preference ballots, proportional representation, etc. Until you change first past the post, there's little to gain and much to lose from going gung ho on third parties or not voting.
Really, it's just supposed to highlight how incompetent she is at best or corrupt at worst.
Unfortunately, she's still better than Trump.

The way this election is turning out in my eyes is becoming more a question of who I trust more as commander in chief more than who I trust as a presidential nomination. Which is kind of sad when you think about how it came to this, yes, but it also makes the choice pretty easy.
Trump has displayed himself as a bigot on virtually every scale I can possibly fathom - race, religion, even gender in varying amounts, and has constantly preyed on xenophobia to propose locking out if not outright bombing the shit out of anything that doesn't rub him the right way (which is fucking ironic because alienating minorities is exactly what ISIS wants, in practically their own words no less), and it's kind of hard to imagine the government working in a coordinated fashion under him when even his own party is starting to rebel against him.
Clinton... mishandled her email service. Umm, okay? Is that all? Trump supporters seem to latch onto this tidbit like she microwaved a fucking dog or something, and I just don't get it.

Hyp3hat got a reaction from FFWF in Sonic Mania (August 15th 2017, Christian Whitehead, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch) - The New Classic
That's how it works for radio/streaming and digital/physical sales, but licensing for media like movies or videogames works differently - As far as I'm aware, with something like releasing music on a DVD, publishing companies dictate much higher rates, and have to be paid in advance. This is why live DVDs are less common, or have less tracks, than live albums.
Doing some reading up on this (because I have nothing better to do today), what seems the most likely scenario is that SEGA had a contract with MJ's publishing that covered the initial release of S3&K - we don't know enough to ascertain whether the total ditching of certain MJ songs from Sonic 3, like the end credits, in & Knuckles was either legal necessity or an artistic decision. However, the fact that you can still purchase S3&K in an emulated state suggests that SEGA negotiated the rights to distribute the material in its original state (the Megadrive cartridge) in perpetuity.
The problem appears to be that they have to negotiate terms for a re-release, and either MJ's estate have either flat out refused them or asked for a rate so high that SEGA can't afford to pay it and still make money on a re-release.

Not necessarily.  Remixes of Michael Jackson's work would, I presume, still owe his estate a legal debt.

A remix doesn't change the fact that the composition is still owned by MJ's publishing company. They would have to pay for the rights to remix it, and that's even less likely than just using the original tracks - his estate are incredibly tight with that sort of thing.

    Yeah, I really liked this.
There are Sonic fans you're never going to win over with a 3D game, and the same with a 2D game, but I feel that the approach Nintendo take with Zelda or Mario would work best for Sonic.
I mean, the biggest, most identifiable and easily solveable split is 2D/3D, and what Zelda and Mario do is have core titles that switch between the two. What Sonic does (to a small extent with 2D platforming in Unleashed and Colours, and to a great extent in Generations and Lost World) is try and weld them together, and the effect is that you piss off a subset of both.
Whereas when you buy New Super Mario Bros, you know exactly what you're getting, and in Super Mario Galaxy or 3D Land, you also know what you're getting. Don't like 3D Mario? Skip that one. There's another 2D game coming up.
What I'd like to see is SEGA adopt this model with Sonic, and I hope that this is what the concurrent reveal of Mania and Project 2017 is auguring in. Keep Taxman or similar (not Dimps, though, jesus) working on 2D titles, and the effect of a more staggered release schedule can give Sonic Team more time to give 3D titles content, and release them all on console so no-one feels left out.

They aren't... drastically different, I'd say? It's not like people look at Modern Sonic and go 'That's not a Sonic game', unless they are insisting that Sonic should never be in 3D at all.
I mean, it's not a perfect fix, but if the last few years (and the laughable argument about what constitutes 'Modern 2D' in the other thread) have shown anything, it's that SEGA can't mix these things without a subset of fans (and the gaming press and public at large) decrying it as terrible, why don't they make it A, I hate B, I miss Sonic back when he was C and so on. It's one way to pacify people, at least.

@Crow the BOOLET If you're saying you can't do maths and thus aren't sure you can work as a grocery clerk, it's absolutely not a problem - I am completely shite at maths (like, basic sums elude me, ie counting change) and I never ran into a problem with my tills or irate customers because of it. There's absolutely no way that's going to happen, and unless there are extensively storyboarded cutscenes and fully coded missions just lying around Konami HQ, there's no way it can. The only bonus I can forsee of that nature is the cut 'Episode 51' from the Blu Ray,  where it's
Plus, a Phantom Pain 'finished edition' would just be the biggest fuck you to fans - making them pay twice for the same game, 'now with an ending!' Even EA gave away the revamped ME3 ending for free.
Konami have been sending the marketing intern who drew the short straw onto Reddit lately, and he has mentioned there is something Metal Gear related coming in 2016 that will 'bring you guys back' (paraphrased). Smart money says a Metal Gear (MSX) 1 & 2 3D remake or, as an outsider choice, a Snake Eater remaster using those Fox Engine assets (and possibly Phantom Pain's gameplay? If it's Fox). Where it wasn't just always boost to win, a lot of times you would remain boostless, thus you had to strategize around that. Going through some beautiful segments without boosting all the time was actually pretty nice and if you know the level pretty well, then you can blow through it with boost, getting it from secret pathways/rooms. I think that would be pretty cool, thats just my opinion though.

The main reason why SEGA isn't utilising their old IPs any more is because the culture that produced them is no longer present - those were mostly not developed by SEGA 'in-house' by a studio like Sonic Team, rather by studios SEGA owned, like AM-2 (Shenmue, Virtua Fighter, Outrun), Hitmaker (Crazy Taxi), or United Game Artists (Space Channel 5, REZ), which is a small but crucial distinction. SEGA have sold off or assimilated those studios as their profits declined, and now they have a bunch of smaller studios with different IPs - this article breaks it down fully https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_development_studios#Team_list
I'm sure they still own their IP, but they have drastically reduced their manpower and game development is more expensive than its ever been.
As for NiGHTS specifically, as SEGA could still develop that in-house, here's probably a bunch of reasons for that - somewhere deep in the bowels of SEGA, there's an accountant who has told them, based on Journey of Dreams and the remaster' sales figures, that a new Nights game wouldn't be financially feasible.
There's also the issue of the execs not wanting to split Iizuka's attention - Nights is pretty much his baby (he designed Into Dreams, and wrote, produced, directed, and designed JoD), and if SEGA are trying to repair Sonic's image they don't need him ditching that to make another NiGHTs game.
This sucks, as a new Nights game would make me a very happy chappy, but while Sonic's struggling, it's not looking likely.
