Not possible. Sonic's one true love is chili dogs.

I had a good chuckle when Tails blurted out that he was banned from one of the Casino stages for counting cards. Blaze too commented how she had to try really hard and focus to not get distracted by the pretty lights (total cat cliche lol). The character banter for the most part was extremely well done. I was sure I would be sprinting for the mute button after five mins of playtime, but it has remained charming and endearing to the environment.
I love hearing other characters scream at me while they are tailgating and attempting to pass. It adds a nice friendly sense of road rage that comes with the territory for these games.

Because it results in terrible gremlin Sonics rather than something likeable and visually pleasing.

Everyone has come to terms with the fact that that's what they tried to do.
Most people have now come to terms with the fact that that was a bad idea.

Can I just say, I think this whole "oh they did the right thing by getting fan feedback", and so on is nothing but a load of total bull? They were told this for months, months, and there's still no excuse, because it still went viral the first time, to the point the poster was trending and the hatred towards it was being mentioned on talk shows. It was well known before this point that the design was hated, and instead of listening to the feedback then, instead what they did was constantly go on and on about how people weren't given it a chance, and acting defensive about it, unable to accept the fact that they made a bad design. If I even remember correctly, the director was getting into Twitter Arguments over it and everything.
If "feedback" really mattered, there wouldn't have been such a massive fight with the makers of the film in the first place about how awful the design looked, and they would've done something in the months they had between the poster, and the trailer release. Yet they didn't bother, and low and behold - the design is despised by everyone, and now the filmmakers, and studio are now backtracking immediately, trying to shit on the design themselves with the #GottaFixFast stuff, and now it's being treated as "oh yeah, you guys right, we're gonna change!".
They shouldn't deserve brownie points for this. They were told months and months in advance how bad this design looked. They had multiple vocal outcries that extended past the fandom that pointed out how badly this looked from the shadow of the design itself. They were the ones who immediately went on the defensive to claim that it was good, and everyone should give it a chance, and everyone was overreacting. They don't get to do that shit, then pretend that they were listening to feedback all along after they were humiliated by the very design they kept defending looking as hideous as everyone expected.
This is not something done out of love for a fandom, or respect for others, it's done because they got a point blank showing that everyone thought it looked hideous, and that very reaction would've cost them revenue, and tons of it. Not only because so many people probably wouldn't have gone to see it because of how horrid Sonic looked in it, but because there was absolutely, positively no way in hell anyone was going to buy merchandise based on that horrid design, which is likely what they're placing their bank on. It's very clearly a motivation born of business and nothing else.
The same way EA shouldn't be getting praise and love for fixing Battlefront 2's atrocious bullshit months after the fact when they were told time and time and time again how shit their game design was, Paramount, and the directors of this film shouldn't be rewarded any praise for "listening to feedback" when they very clearly didn't for months, and are only bothering to do it now when it actively risks cutting into their profits.

Of course, that still just begs the question, why now?
They've known we've hated the design for months and months now. The fact that people don't like the naked furry gremlin man isn't news. And granted, "sharing feedback" is a super broad term that could encompass a lot of different things, but I simply refuse to believe the design didn't come up in that. They've known Sega doesn't like it either for months now, so, again, why now?
Why do it at the point where it's going to cause a delay by months? And not right before it was too late when the the people who own the character you're making the movie about, general audiences, and fans of the character are telling you, "Hey, this doesn't look good."?

The only thing I will say in TSR's defense is while the item gameplay is a bit hit-or-miss, GOD I appreciate the Wisp usage over the first two games' generic items when I see them side-by-side. I know the fandom as a whole is still struggling with swallowing the "Wisps are here to stay" pill, but the fact is they're a major part of the Sonic franchise now and they are so much more appealing to look at, what with the little guys peering around quizzically, putting on a sassy expression or looking downright traumatised by everything going on around them as you wait to use them, as oppose to... Baseball Glove.

Fixing Sonic's design won't necessarily make it a better movie, but it'll certainly make it less painful to look at.

If they're really serious about trying to fix Sonic's design, a delay is the right move.
But even with that I figure this'll be a case of too little too late. Sonic's design is the most obviously bad thing we've seen, but the rest of the movie isn't exactly looking great either. I can respect honestly trying to fix things but part of me also wishes they'd just tear off the bandaid and get it over with.

But good on them for delaying the film. That will give animators time to do the work (hopefully). But I'm not convinced they'll come up with a good design until we see it. It's nice that he's wearing a glove though, blue arms be damned.

I personally can respect a creative vision that breaks with what the fandom was partial to, if not necessarily enjoy it, provided that I can perceive what's actually visionary about it.
Looking back on it, Sonic Boom counts as such.  The creators were making a sincere attempt to alter the characters' designs to fit with what their personalities had more or less become in the core series by that time, for whatever that was worth.  It's important to remember that while the original Sonic and Eggman designs are appealing in their own right, they weren't originally designed specifically for the sort of roles they ended up playing in the original games; likewise, the original games' focus was narrow enough that their personalities, along with those of newly created characters, could be little more than trivia.  Spin-offs and the 3D games would change this.  Aside from the obvious animal empathy, Sonic's motives and personality in the original games could be presumed to be almost anything, but he since developed a canon love of adventure for its own sake, so BRB gave him "adventurer" garb.  Tails was initially little more than a Sonic clone who could also fly, but he eventually gained a gadgeteer personality so they gave him goggles and gloves.  Knuckles wasn't in a great position to perform feats of strength in the old games focused more on fast platforming, but later games would diversify into mechanics that more enabled him to do so, thus he got a redesign that buffed him up--well; part of him.  Eggman began as an unfocused whimsical design, got placed into a villain role more-or-less arbitrarily, but evolved into an egotistical imperialist, so they broadened his chest to imply arrogance and gave him a more militaristic outfit.  Amy started as an NPC, became an "urban" character in SA, and got some development into a more athletic character since, so they gave her a less cumbersome outfit and longer limbs.
The choices this movie makes do not seem to display any such vision.  Giving Sonic a more realistic design to convey his super-speed might qualify as a "vision", albeit a controversial one, but nothing about Sonic being "realistic" suggests that his body and mouth have to be shaped like those of humans.  Likewise, nothing about Robotnik, as he is re-conceived in this movie, mandates him not wearing red and having a mustache the whole movie, and the way Carrey is playing him actively suggests he'd be fine making outlandish robots of the sorts he uses in the games, instead of the iDrones we see in the trailer.
No; the sense I get from this project is that it lacks vision, and while that wouldn't be so bad if it was more willing to respect the source material, since it isn't it instead seems to be striving mostly to copy what other movies do, and unfortunately it seems to choose as it's inspiration the sorts of movies that aren't well-liked but are cheap to make.

Ah, the age old "Respect their vision" argument. Well, again, the argument that's been used to respond to that: If I made Sonic a drunk, racist alcoholic that swears at children, would people REALLY be wrong to be strongly against that?
And that "just be fans" argument is a croc, too. If you aren't going to respect the source material, of course fans of the source material are going to be angry. Why don't we just ask Sonic Team how well change for the sake of change works?

Remember in the original ASR? How some fans tried to get an online lobby full of Big the Cats using a glitch?

Well... I've been waiting nearly 9 years to do this lol
Skip to 7:58 for when the madness starts... But we actually get organised at 12:00 and drive in full Big the Cat formation.
This is followed by us all playing as Knuckles and exploring Boo's house.
Also during this stream we found possibly the most obscure reference in the whole game. Skip to 1:12:40. I start to play the horns... Well... Sonic's horn is actually a reference to Sonic Spinball, it's part of the music used for the Sega chime when you start that game.

So been playing this for around 16 hours now and... Got a few more thoughts.
TSR is a good game. In fact it's potentially a great one... but... the main issue with it is this.
The idea of having a team based mechanic actually works, as absurd as it sounds it really is great when it just clicks.
But the main gripe I'm starting to have... is that I keep comparing it to ASRT and that game just comes out on top every time.
Characters, tracks (transformed nature) but mainly the overall presentation.
Like in ASRT every menu feels alive. Even little things like when you complete a GP you get a small podium sequence. In TSR it's all near still imagery.
Some have asked about single player content... thing is... this game is bloody hard at times. If you're going for 100% completion. It takes a very long time to get every star in every stage.
Then to unlock all the mods, decals and horns will also take ages... mainly thanks to the loot box nature of that system.
So you potentially have a very long and challenging game here that is fun...
But is is lacking in virtually every comparison to ASRT.
And... I keep having to remind myself that this shouldn't be an issue and is an unfair comparison.
Because ASRT at launch was £39.99.
TSR is £20-£30 depending where you shop. It's almost half the price and that's without factoring in most new games now cost £45 depending where you go.
It's a much cheaper game compared to ASRT and even ASR.
Now if it were the same price that ASRT was, I think there would be a much stronger argument for the same number of characters, the same final quality of the menus. To have a game at the same level or better in every area.
Basically. ASRT was going for the full higher end blockbuster type Triple A show that was a lot of fun.
TSR is going for a budget experience which is equally as fun...
But I want TSR to be that higher end type experience that ASRT was, but it's not. It's budget.

Side by side comparison of the PS4 and Switch versions of TSR. Besides the halved framerate and very very slightly pared back shadows, I'm hugely impressed at how close the Switch version is to the other console versions. Can't wait to see how the PS4 Pro and XB1X handle it.

This discussion is so tiring but holy shit I want people to know that Sonic doesnt have to have an explanation for this and that, it should be fun, FIRST AND FOREMOST.

Oh yeah and... there's also this....
China used to have a 50ft Sonic statue! It was sat on top of a Chinese Joypolis for over 3 years before it was taken down just a few months ago. I was able to find some really cool pictures and video... Including images of the construction process which gives you a very good idea just how big it is because you can see fully grown men working on it at different heights.

Ayliffe reacted to Badnik Mechanic in So I Think I Found All The Giant Sonic Statues
For the last two weeks I've been working on a new documentary / history video.
Basically, after the whole Sonic statue in the mountains thing exploded. I started to think of all the other giant Sonic statues that are out there, so I started to look into it and discovered that not only are there a lot more than people are aware of...
But that there's no central location to show them all. Even Sonic Gear doesn't have a comprehensive list and what images they do have are really small in size so a lot of detail is lost also a lot of the statues are missing information or the information is completely wrong.
So I decided to try and find them all, as well as all the information I could about them and gather them together in one place.
I think I may have done it, and I even found some information and discoveries which I'm sure the fanbase is unaware of. Though I wouldn't be surprised if I have missed 1 or 2, especially since Japan has tons of statues that even the bulk of the fanbase doesn't know about.
Anyway... here are a few highlights.
    Sega World Disney Land
During the late 90's Disney and Sega partnered up to bring a mini Sega World to Epcots innovations centre... it was full of Sonic imagery including several statues including this almighty one.

This statue originally appeared at CES 1994 and was moved to Epcot in which a bouncy barrel base was added to it. But this is the significant discovery that I made.

Every time Disney makes a new land or plans a new area, they make a model of it... and the model for the Sega World at Epcot has survived the years! There are some clear changes from the photo above and my video, but it looks more or less the same for the mot part.
    Surfing Sonic

Found at Sega World London, it's one of the lesser known statues because it was on the top floor with all the 'sports games' so not many people went up there it seemed. It's a magnificent statue which just seems that it defies the laws of physics by not falling over.
    Anchor Sonic

So this statue was placed above a very old Sega world at some point in the 1990's, this was a statue that I've never seen before... but... to my amazement... It's still there to this day, but now looks like this!

They re-decorated it to a more modern Sonic design!
    Street View Address.
1 Chome-6-11 Funabori, Edogawa City, Tokyo 134-0091, Japan
    Laughing Sonic

That artwork of Laughing Sonic actually made it to a giant statue. At CES 1995 it welcomed visitors to Sega's booth and was even the basis for a Sega World Sydney Sonic statue. In recent years it's even been turned into a plush and First4Figures were to make a statue of this design but cancelled it before release.
So are there any which I missed? Are there any others out there? Because it would be nice to find them all since a lot tend to get destroyed once the event is over.

In how it’s panned out, it’s given us considerably less roster and (more importantly) track variety than the previous title. I think it’s a fair criticism.
