  1. Maybe I'm a bit behind in this realization. If the splatfests only counted battles won, then it would be easy to join the team who you want to lose, and play badly, essentially out of spite. If it only counted people chosen, then it'd be easy to choose and then, well, not play the game. Though in either case the rewards would encourage proper playing, doing it this way makes it far more likely that there'll be people actually trying to see their chosen side win.
  2. Response to Chille Tid thoughts. Anyway, I can wait however long for new episodes. Absolute favourite show, though I don't watch anything else, so maybe that doesn't say much.
  3. The TowerFall expansion, Dark World, is being released on the PlayStation 4 in the next few hours! Here's the PSN Store link to the main game, TowerFall Ascension: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/towerfall-ascension/cid=UP2120-CUSA00466_00-0000TOWERFALLPS4 Definitely worth picking up, even more so once the expansion comes out with the improved singleplayer content.
  4. TowerFall Dark World expansion releases on Steam, GOG, and PS4 today! The good stuff: One new archer and 9 alternate skins for everybody. Four new towers, including one with randomly-generated arenas. Two new arrow types, Prism and Trigger. A additional redesigned Quest mode for one player to four. Lots of little tweaks to the main game! The whole thing is available on GOG too. http://www.gog.com/news/release_towerfall_ascension_dark_world_expansion http://store.steampowered.com/app/337840/
  5. Hello I am a person who nobody's heard of and never says anything and I'm here to talk to you about Noitu Love 2, my second-favorite game ever. It is arcade and explosions and wonderful pixel art and music and lots of mad clicking and, for the duration of Steam Summer Suffering, priced at only 2 of any currency. http://store.steampowered.com/app/207530/ It's also got cards and a badge if you're into that kind of thing.
  6. 33% off on the Humble Store for a flash sale! Though for the moment, I believe it still must be installed through Steam. Additionally, they recently released version 1.1.17, including new variants, fixes and changes, and something secret??? Even better: in the near future, Mac and Linux versions will be made available, as well as a level editor. Meanwhile, the fun hasn't waned in the slightest---
  7. By MattMakesGames (Matt Thorson), Studio Miniboss, Infinite Ammo (Alec Holowka), and Power-Up Audio. A one-to-four-player game, very fast paced and best played with controllers, only played locally*! Screenshots: How to play Towerfall: -Shoot arrows at people -Jump on people -Dodge and catch There are also powerups and a one-to-four-player Quest mode where you battle waves of monsters. You can also unlock some new characters (who all play the same) and new towers. This version is a huge step up from the original Ouya version, and absolutely worth the price if you have someone to play against. It doesn't take very long to learn (and even if your skill level is lower that your enemies', you'll still feel satisfied and find ways to success). And yet, the situations and the detail and the way the game builds on basic ideas is INCREDIBLE. It's a simple game, but oh-so-good. I've had uncounted hours of fun playing against family members, and I'm hoping to set up some competition in college if I can get more controllers. I heartily recommend this game to anyone who has either a PS4 or good controllers/gamepads for their computer. (Note: I prefer a Dualshock 3 with SCPServer to get Windows to recognize it) Steam store page! (*In case you're frustrated with the lack of online play, there's a good reason for it that boils down to this: It simply doesn't work because of the latency, and the lag, and any lag compensation would make it worse. This game is very precise and fast-paced and it's very clear where everything is, where as some games may slower-paced or vague on the details to cover up compensation. It's a shame, but that's how it is! Couch play is more fun anyway.)
  8. Ghost Trick and the Ace Attorney Wright Trilogy are reported to be free on iTunes for a time, and they have fixed the compatibility issues with iOS7. I can't check myself since I don't have the service, but I believe someone else has confirmed Ghost Trick at least. Go go go! Iz good!
  9. Happy birthday!

A personal well-wishing from Santa Doom. I am full of joy and fear, wrapped in anticipation. The best emotion sandwich. Anyway, thanks!

  12. I agree, a coin steamboat would be fantastic. This game also looks fantastic. This is the variety and creativity that was missing from some of the recent Marios. But I don't want to call it the next Super Mario World yet. If it turns out to be filled with tons of secret levels and minimaps and multiple layers of bonus stuff - as opposed to a predictable single secret world or level after a linear set of worlds - then I'll be really climbing on the excite bike. The level select maps seem to have a lot of potential for exactly that, so I'm hopeful!

    Nintendo 3DS

I can't think of much to say. It's like burning down a house because of some spider nests, and also how are we supposed to communicate with our friends for whom we don't have other contact info? Our tiny, tiny status messages? Although I expect most people don't have that problem. I can only hope that Flipnote 3D is coming very soon and allows you to send stuff. Anyway, Swapnote is now in my Junk folder.
  14. I had a thought. What if Nintendo has used the trailers in this way on purpose? Starting us off with a dull title, a trailer showing, as has been so elegantly put, Mario Land 3D HD with Co-op and A New Powerup in a very dull uncreative environment. "Oh great, it's the same old stuff." Then they bring in the FUN bits. The dragon-ish boss thing. The rainy level. The cherries. "Wow, this started out looking like a rehash, but these new trailers and screenshots are much crazier and more varied!" Our low expectations are suddenly blown away by this recent stuff! I am curious if this was an intentional strategy. If so, at least they're aware of their recent lack of environment innovation. To be honest, this new stuff doesn't seem to affect the gameplay too much from what I've seen. But gameplay wasn't the main problem anyway, environments were (by my reckoning), so that's fine by me.
