  1. I have to wonder if all the bizarre 1000-yard-stare avatars in the background of that one shot are simply placeholders for actual player characters that'll be loaded in when online or something? I feel like that'd be a neat gimmick.
  2. So that's, like, £15 or so? Pretty reasonable, given how much use I think most of us will get out of things like Splatoon. Interesting wording there too. "Most" games will require a subscription to play online, but not necessarily all of them? Not to mention this "compilation" of classic games. Didn't they say that it'd be a separate downloadable classic per month? This kinda indicates you'll have access to all available games at once.
  3. I think "generally" is the key word there. Even if the bulk of characters come from the more recognisable entries, we know Nintendo knows what characters are popular, thanks to the Heroes poll prior to that game's release. Pretty much anyone who was in Smash or scored highly in the poll (which Lyn actually topped, if I remember right?) has a good shot of making it into Warriors, and even if they don't make the initial cut, well, Hyrule Warriors boosted its roster with DLC by about a third, so, y'know. There's hope.
  4. >Brand new, fast selling home/ handheld hybrid console. >Launched with new Zelda with over 100% attach rate. >Mario Kart within the first two months. >Sequel to what is arguably the Wii U's finest game, Splatoon, launching in July. >New 3D Mario at the end of the year, not to mention ports of some of the last generation's best titles. >And now Monster Hunter! Real mysterious. Guess we better get fucking Poirot on the case.
  5. OOOHHH, WISPON. Wisp weapon. I get it now!

I keep mispronouncing this word GDI

  6. Hey, it ain't a fan character unless it has at least two official character's hairstyles nailed to it.

  7. Y'know, if there's one good thing that's come out of the Forces thread, it's reminding people how damn good Colours(and bits of Lost World)'s soundtracks were.

  8. I mean, if we're really going full-on with the semantics, then technically, Sonic 3 is Sonic 4. ...What?
  9. I'm sure there's some element of momentum at play here, but even I can see he should be getting more air from bouncing on enemies than that.
  10. Looks alright to me. Not outstanding, but alright. Visuals definitely have a bit more detail to them now compared to the Direct footage we got earlier- notably the wooden boards behind the way-too-long Chopper bridge, which seemingly was about where I expected it to be in the level. Also spotted a number of alternate paths, both above and below the route shown, so that's a plus. Now, I'll be honest here, I've never much cared for Classic Sonic's gameplay. Like, ever. Even the Classic series itself. With that said though, movement does seem rather stiff. Bouncing off the enemies (especially with that hilarious sound effect) in particular. And speaking of sound, wow, that music is sharp. Like, way too sharp. The tune itself is very Runners-y, but ouch, that hurts to listen to. Bit of a shame, because it's otherwise not a bad track. Maybe a touch on the fast side, but still, not bad. Green Hill's never really been about rushing, but more about the pleasantness of the start of an adventure, y'know?
  11. Given Sean's comment, I'm not sure I want to know what I missed from the Forces thread.

      A discussion about bat boobs.

Your interest depends if you're into this sort of thing.

    2. Zaysho

Being able to see this stuff after it's been removed is both a gift and a curse.

    3. ProfessorZolo

A discussion that warranted purging? Huh.

Well, who am I to judge? I'd hope everyone here would at least TRY to keep things SFW though.

    4. FriendBot

      Nah, not me. I'm a hard R!

    5. Kiah

I've lost count of how many times the Forces topic has actually been purged...

@Zaysho please explain to me how this is a gift. This has been a curse for me each and every time :(

    6. JosepHenry

@KiahI only saw the Rouge gif... It got worse?

    7. FriendBot

O there was lewd stuff going on?

All I heard was comparing Rouge to Bayonetta?

    8. Kiah

No comment, gentlemen. It isn't viewable for a reason.

    10. Zaysho

There weren't bad images, per se. It's where the conversation was going we had to start purging.

@Kiah Maybe "gift" is a bit generous. It's useful at least as far as the job goes. That's kinda where it ends, though, so "curse."

    11. Kiah

@Zaysho gotcha. Agreed on it being a bit generous as gifts are you know, usually nice, appreciated and wanted.

  12. I'm afraid I don't understand what you're getting at here? Sega Japan is a far bigger operation than Sega America. They're the ones writing the cheques that fund everything the American branch does, and ultimately it all goes back to Japan. And if you're referring to Sonic Team in particular, didn't Iizuka relocate to America as part of Sonic Team?
  13. I wouldn't worry about it too much. The response to Tails and Knuckles being playable in Mania has been incredibly strong, and I doubt Sonic Team would ignore that, even if this third style turns out to be a complete bum. If anything, it may even convince them to finally reinstate the two as playable alongside Sonic. Fingers crossed, eh?
  14. Wow, so it's been almost a year since I last did anything on the Stadium. Hello again, everyone.

I'd claim "I'm back!" but honestly I'll probably go back to lurking within a week or so. Enjoy my irritating optimism while it lasts!

    1. Kiah

Hi! Hopefully you can stick around as more optimism surely wouldn't hurt to have around here!

    2. Shaddy Zaphod
    3. Zaysho

Irritating optimism is preferable to insufferable pessimism, so welcome back!

    4. ProfessorZolo

Well, I'll certainly try to stick around. It's nice we've finally got stuff to talk about now though, even if it is mostly pages of complaints.

Still, nothing but complaints is terrible for the collective mood of the board. It was definitely getting on my nerves.

    5. Sean

      What's up

    6. ProfessorZolo

Oh, not much. Just trying to reacquaint myself with the site's options and such.

And wow, I completely forgot you could like posts. I really have been away too long.

    7. Ferno

welcome to the wooooorld of tomorrrowww

  15. Huh. I could totally buy into the idea of modern and classic being different dimensions. I mean, even though we KNOW Classic Sonic is from the past, Sonic Team kinda seems to consider time travel and dimension hopping to be one and the same, given their past forays into the subject- the whole kerfuffle about Blaze in particular springs to mind. Also, to give my thoughts on what we've seen of Classic so far? I'm... not particularly miffed about it. I kinda like how the stage geometry seems to be taking more direct cues from the original Green Hill. It's kinda funky, in a way. I mean, yeah, the textures are a little flat and the lighting moreso, and good god, that Chopper bridge thing goes on far too long, but, y'know, I'm optomistic.
