  1. The April news drop for the Sonic SXSW stuff has been pushed back indefinitely, due to the world's current state of affairs. I fully expected this, and it's understandable; glad they're prioritising the team's safety.

Lmao, the fandom might just explode now... Anyway I understand, they can't work with the world in crisis. It's cool.

The safety of the people who work for SEGA is of course the most important thing. So I'm happy to wait a little longer for some Sonic news.

Yeah, I pretty much expected this too. When the SXSW panel was cancelled and they said that they'd provide the news in another format in April, that when individual events like SXSW where being cancelled individually but the world wasn't on lock-down. Circumstances changed so quickly but SEGA never put out any updates, so it seemed likely that they couldn't put anything in place. I'll look forward to the update whenever they can put it out.

Good for them for prioritizing safety.

Though, this sort of reads like there's more to this update than just a trailer drop which might lead to the wrong impression for many? Idk, I just feel like, with this, the question of "what are they going to do that can't be edited together into a video remotely" starts to arise.

It's about more than just dropping a trailer - if they have to delay a hypothetical game because of the outbreak and shift in working conditions, then the entire marketing plan is going to be shifted and jumbled around. It might just make more sense to kick off marketing later, even if it just starts with a single trailer.

Thing is, there is a high percent they may delay their games, maybe they were meant to be released this year? I dunno, but most companies are doing that obviously.

Tracker is right about the marketing, one can only drop so many music videos.

Seriously though, this crisis is obviously more important than an dumb old Sonic game, so yeah, let's just wait this one out, we got more important things to worry about.

You guys need to remember that SEGA did have a big marketing push for Sonic this year and their original plan was to make a sonic related announcement every 20th of this year so their plans have ben put on the kibosh. But I digress it's good that they're prioritizing the safety of everybody right now.

I actually hope they can delay it by a year or so, when everyone can be working as a group again. After moving over to digital collaborations myself, I can't imagine developing anything as a team being better in these conditions, much less enjoyable. A game's creativity thrives off of team collaboration and morale, so it really doesn't make sense to just push forward like it's a product with a ship-by date, to me.
