  2. Captain Haddock (Tintin series) I recently started re-reading the Tintin books a while ago in preparation for the movie, and I remembered just how funny this guy was . Seriously, Captain Haddock is one of the most hilarious characters I've ever seen in any comic book series. Not just because he's a drunken old semi-retired sailor turned mansion owner with a short temper, but because he has one of the most colourful ways of speaking, yet manages to be mostly child friendly at the same time. I mean what other fictional characters do you know who use the word "Bashi-bazouk" as an insult? Plus he manages to be a badass in the later Tintin books, like Flight 714 where he grabs a semi-automatic rifle and goes around acting like Rambo? Speaking of which... John Rambo (Rambo series) If you've only seen the later movies in the series, you might be thinking that Rambo is just a one-dimensional cardboard cutout who's only purpose is to shoot vietcong and communists. But if you watch the original movie or read the book, First Blood, you'll discover that there's a lot more to this troubled Vietnam vet than meets the eye. Plus he manages to outwit almost anyone he comes across, as well as outgunning them of course. Plus he's basically the biggest all around bad-ass from any 80's action movie EVER. Ash Williams (Evil Dead series) Bruce Campbell is a legend, no doubt about that. And I figure the role that made him famous had to be on here. Ash from the Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness is the king of one liners, has a chainsaw attached to his arm after getting his hand cut off, never seems to run out of snarky quips or sarcastic comments to say about any situation and also partakes in some of the most hilarious slapstick comedy outside of a Looney Tunes cartoon, while still managing to slay zombies and deadites like nobody's business. If you haven't seen Evil Dead 1, 2 or Army of Darkness (and why haven't you?) I advise you to check them out. They're incredibly hilarious as comedies and also quite good horror movies as well. Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) Well this is a complete change of pace, isn't it? After 2 badass action heroes and a drunken sailor, you weren't expecting a time and space altering schoolgirl who also doubles as a goddess now, weren't you? Haruhi Suzumiya is a very hard character to categorize. She starts out as sort of an anti-social bitch, but ends up as a semi-crazy genki girl with heaps of energy who manages to run the S.O.S brigade while engaging in some very strange and very out-there adventure as the series goes on. She also manages to be very funny and very genre savvy, pointing out the certain cliches and stereotypes that seme to occur throughout the show. She's probably one of the best anime characters from the past decade, in my opinion.

Wow! That looks awesome! I take back everything I said about the new SSX looking like Call of Duty on a snowboard. Between this and Tony Hawk HD, I'm gonna have my hands full with extreme sports games next year.
  4. The first time I played Sonic Riders (I was 12 when I played it, shut up) and made it to the SEGA Carnival stage. Something about that level just seemed so whimsical and fun.
  5. My new PC arrived this morning, with a Radeon HD 6770 graphics card as well. PC gaming master race, here I come!

  6. LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem: Dear lord, everywhere I went, some dickhead always has to make at least one comment about "EVERYDAY I'M SHUFFLAN" Lady Gaga - Edge of Glory: Not that bad of a song, but I hear it all the time. Seriously, she has other songs you know Adele - Rolling in the Deep: Why do people like Adele again? Her voice keeps cracking and she sounds incredibly annoying and she's probably just a one-hit-wonder Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (TGIF): HA HA HA! OH WOW. Seriously, Katy Perry is one of those singers who's music I find to be not that bad and all, but MAN was this overplayed. Foster the People - Pumped up Kicks: Oh lawdy, another indie pop band making music for car commercials. Except unlike all the other car commercial Indie pop bands, these guys didn't get the thumbs up from Pitchfork, essentially making them mainstream as fuck with an annoying single to boot.
  7. This has probably been posted here a million times, but..... This is like crack, I keep coming back for my daily dose
  8. I know the article is stupid and all, but complaining about Fox News is like complaining about mouldy bread tasting bad, or complaining about Saturday Night Live being unfunny. I laughed when I read about how they mentioned Captain Planet as a 'recent' show that 'brainwashes children into hating corporate america'. Is it any wonder why people think that Republicans are idiots?
  9. Am I the only one who was severely disappointed by Sonic Adventure 2? I spent years browsing Sonic forums, hearing people talk about SA2 like it was the holy grail of the Sonic franchise. I couldn't play it, because I didn't own a Dreamcast or a Gamecube during the 6th gen, and I couldn't get it off eBay when I bought a Wii (overprotective parents and such). Thankfully, a friend of mine owned a copy of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for Gamecube, which he most graciously let me borrow. When I sat down and played it, it honestly felt underwhelming. Like they took most of the best bits of Sonic Adventure 1 (which I'd played on the PC a few years earlier) and just took them down a notch. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it didn't have any Amy Rose or Big stages. What I wasn't glad was how the Sonic and Tails sections from the first game, which I honestly thought were the best thing about it, were either cut down or replaced with shooting sections ala Gamma's stages. And what I really didn't like was the fact that they added more "COLLECT THE MASTER EMERALD PIECES, TROLOLOLO" stages, which were one of the more weaker things about SA1. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent game, but it's nowhere near as great as most people make it out to be.
  10. My Thundercats shirt arrived in the mail today! Fuck yes!

  11. I'm going to have to wait a few weeks to get Generations, due to spending my money this week on Skyrim. But on the other hand, Skyrim is hands down GOTY, no contest.

    1. Agent York

      Agent York

Any other year, that might have been true. But GOTY this year, Skyrum is up against Portal 2, Dead Space 2, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Uncharted 3, Rayman Origins, Modern Warfare 3, L.A. Noire, Ocarina of Time 3D, and the list just goes on and on and on.

  12. I'm not sure whether to spend my money on Sonic Generations or Skyrim. What does the SSMB reckon I should get?

    1. Octarine

Hm. If you've got limited funds and you want the most bang for your buck, Skyrim might be the wiser choice. Not that Generations isn't great, but it's kinda short.

    2. Detective Shadzter
    3. Jetronic

      marko's magic football

    4. Noir

      Skyward Sword

  13. Who else thinks Knuckles new voice is sexy as hell?
