  1. The NES controllers for Switch can only be used for NES games, effectively meaning that they're due to become 100% useless if you cancel your subscription and when the Switch online services end.

Literally what the fuck. They're hardware with an expiration date.

They also delete the few game saves that you can even make off too if that ever happens.

Very facepalmy from Nintendo right there, back to their greedy 80s ways. Actually worse, even Hiroshi Yamauchi wouldn't have pulled this move and he was a hard nosed business man. I'm sure that someone out there is going to hack those controllers to make them useable.

Oh and something that Nintendo forgot to mention... If you download the next update (or anything after the 19th September), your Switch once added your Nintendo account cannot be unlinked so they made it that you can't sell your Switch or transfer over if your machine breaks down. Yep, another facepalm moment...

I don't see why anyone would buy these at this point tbh. There are already better third party controllers out there, even.

There are other controllers in the new firmware, though, so my hope for a good official controller with a d-pad aren't completely out the window yet. This is the worst first impression for official alternatives there can be, though, so I'm kinda giving up expecting anything much past those leaked controllers. I just want some solid Joycon options already, Nintendo; how hard would a left-d-pad option be?
