  1. The more I play through SwSh, the more it's dawning on me that Galar might just be the smallest region ever in terms in terms of gameplay. It's 99% window dressing. You can't go anywhere.

Gen 4 wasn't my favorite but I wish we got another region as huge and sprawling.

The only downside to exploring Sinnoh was its multitude of required HMs. And that's just a QoL issue that it's relatively easy to solve. In terms of content, there's just so much to Sinnoh. Optional areas like Turnback Cave, the entire route and cave underneath cycling road, caves that you can return to later to explore more fully, the ironworks, Solaceon Ruins... It's a pretty long list. I felt like BW really lacked in that front and felt like a step backwards, but if wad still more involved than literally anything that's come since. Based on XY to SuMo to SwSh, I don't think that Game Freak is actually capable of creating a large world in 3D. They still design their games like theyre on the GameBoy. I can't tell you how annoying it is that you can't walk up or down steps shallower than a kerb in the Wild Area...

Looots of invisible walls I noticed. And I don't think there are any optional Dungeon areas which is really disappointing. I guess because there's no optional legendaries so there's no reason to make them lol

It's not just invisible walls either. On your way to Turffield, the first gym town, one of annoying gameplay interrupting cutscenes points out an energy factory in background that you never go to. And speaking of Turffield, the town is literally just the gym and a Pokémon Centre. It looks huge, but there's nothing to it. I was really disappointed in how little there is going on in Motostoke and Hammerlocke, because they looked like such cool and fun ideas and there's nothing there. The whole game is window dressing.

Turfield is a giant circle thst you can only explore half of. Spikemuth isn't even a town it'd basically just the gym

Spikemuth is an absolute joke. It's just a straight line, with a Pokémon Centre at one end and the gym leader at the other. It's basically the Olivine Gym. And that gym is notorious for being kind of sucky.

Most of the routes also fall into this category. There are a few more intricate ones, but they're still incredibly short and straightforward.

Props to them for putting Falinks at Hadirans Wall though. That was cute.
