I don't know who to blame for Sonic games typically being so bad and I would guess that a large part of it the corporate/executive side of SEGA demanding games out at certain times on restrictive budgets and forcing certain aspects. But Morio Kishimoto directed Secret Rings, Black Knight, Colours, Lost World and Forces. I don't think he's doing the series any favours either. The one decent game in the bunch, Colours, has become the poster child for everything wrong with the games nowadays. And even if pales in comparison to its direct predecessor and successor which had different directors. The dude needs to go.

My Pokémon X nuzlocke is going investingly so far. I'm enforcing some fairly strong rules, to up the difficulty... Standard nuzlocke rules (first encounter only, permadeath), but I'm also limiting my party to the same number of Pokémon as any when I fight them, my team levels can't exceed the next gym leaders levels, no HM slaves, no healing items in battle, no mega evolution, no static encounters, and most importantly... I must build my party in the order that I catch Pokémon. So let's say I have a full party and 3 in the PC, but then one member in my team dies. I can't choose just any of the reserves in the PC; I have to use the one that I caught first. Alternatively, I'll have to skip straight to the Pokémon I want if I "kill off" everything before it. I did the same rules for Heart Gold and it was a really fun challenge.
My party is currently Skiddo, Charmeleon, Honedge, Pidgeotto, Hippopotas and Lunatone and I'm at the Glittering Cave. All of my other Pokémon have died so there aren't any in reserve. The casualties are Panpour, Fennekin (this one was sacrificed intentionally to keep Pidgey alive),Fletchling, Flabébé, Croagunk, Zubat, Seviper. And I missed my chance to catch a Bunnelby.

Considering how torrid my relationship is with the Pokémon games, I'm seriously so taken in by PLA. I'm really dying to hear more about it in an official capacity. I've seen the leaks, but they don't tell us awful lot. The premise of this game is just so interesting.
And from an angle that really counts for nothing... I love the random choice of starters. It's still balanced and keeping with tradition, but mixes it up in a fun way. It's nice that they went this route instead of giving us a whole new set or reusing a set verbatim.

I genuinely forgot what a raging boner Pokémon had for Gen 1  nostalgia during XY. These games really struggle to have much of an identity of their own because of the prevalence old Pokémon, limited number of new Pokémon and really uninteresting design of Kalos. Kalos is larger than both Galar and Alola in terms of the areas you actually explore and destinations you visit, plus the region loops back on itself a few times which is also nice, but it sure as hell is bland.

It's really cool that the original three Donkey Kong Country games each had a different Kong in the lead role, and each was only newly introduced in the preceding games. It was this kind of bold move where they didn't create spin-offs for some secondary characters, but simply put them fully in the spotlight and took the previous main character out of it.

I wonder if SEGA would ever consider celebrating an Eggman Anniversary, kind of like like how Nintendo celebrated 30 years is Mario with the Year of Luigi. Would be a great excuse to put Eggman in the spotlight; he's one of the series' most popular characters and one of the most famous villains in all video game history.
