  1. I just love there are so many polarizing reactions lol.

MCU fans are upset, Spiderverse fans are happy. Its hilarious

  2. https://deadline.com/2019/08/kevin-feige-spider-man-franchise-exit-disney-sony-dispute-avengers-endgame-captain-america-winter-soldier-tom-rothman-bob-iger-1202672545/ WELP. guess that's that
  3. WELP. That's the end of MCU!Spidey :V

Peter's last line from FFH fits this predicament so well.

  4. I guess its a good thing I wasn't talking about people who are already fans huh
  5. It's on literally a basic level; pretty the average person who picks up a game called "Sonic the Hedgehog" will initially play it with....Sonic the Hedgehog.
  6. Trying to argue Sonic isn't popular in his own series is stupid. He tops every poll and being the most basic character of the roster means people are more likely to pick him on an initial playthrough.
  7. You're talking mental age or physical age? Because Shadow is physically the same age as Sonic. Chronologically speaking, yes. Physically and mentally? Eeehhh
  8. Oh boy, we're delving dangerously close to shipping debates. I can't really see Shadow in a romantic relationship, at least with Rouge because I can't see her putting up with so many of his issues. There's a reason she tends to be called the "Mom" of the group. You'd really need to have the patience of a saint to deal with someone like Shadow. As for Rouge treating everyone the same, well...she barely interacts with anyone else so :V
  9. People complain more about Spiderverse being "slept on" than actually liking it....

Where's the fun in simply gushing over things anymore, right? There always has to be a catch involved.

You should be mad that more people went to go see Venom in theaters. That film nearly made a billion in the box office.

But both Amazing Spidermans sold less then the Rami films.

You imply that they're better movies than the MCU Spidermans????????

It isn’t slept on with all the recognition it has. But I do encourage more people to see it, which is what I do for anything I love.

...Have you heard the good word of A Hat in Time?

I think it'll be more of an issue depending on how Sony continues forward with Spider-Man films and their animation division in general. People are just scared at the prospect of seeing even more movies like the Amazing movies or Venom while Sony Animation goes back to making stupid shit simply because those things, financially, performed better.

That is an actual concern to have with this industry.

Spider-Verse is getting a sequel, a spinoff and a TV show tho. If anything I'd say it's a huge success

@Polkadi~☆ I already own it but haven't touched it yet. Waiting for the physical version.

True, and I'm not saying that all the outcry is exactly warranted, but it really isn't a mute point either. Fact of the matter is that people don't have anything beyond words from Sony to go off from regarding all that. They've been known to cut projects off simply due to cost in the past. Meanwhile, we've been trained to expect, at this point, that numbers carry far more weight. That image Wraith posted is concerning and, for a lot of people, downright worrying.

The entire thing is weird really. We're in a time where it's often safer to assume the worst from any company. Where they're only out for the pure profit. Thing is, Spider-Verse isn't really anything to write home about when looking at it purely from a financial standpoint and the time we're in. Though, it's accolades are impossible to ignore and Sony knows that.

While I personally think that the future, in this regard, is a bright one and that people really shouldn't be that concerned; I can't really blame them either.

@WraithI thought the first Smurfs movie and Hotel Transylvania 2 and 3 all did better?

  10. You know...even when I was 12 years old and just really getting into the online Sonic fandom (and began my descent into darkness)...I never understood why the switching of voices was a big deal.

And I STILL don't get why it's such a big deal...

You get attached to the voices, especially if you grew up with them, and its jarring when they change, especially when the new actor sounds nothing like the old.

And when it comes to the whole "replacing the game cast with the Sonic X", it was jarring and stupid. If anything, it would have made more sense to do it the other way around.

      Spoiler

I was confused myself, but I guess I just rolled with it, presumably from what I interpreted they were saying. They made it seem like they labeled every Sonic game after Heroes (or Advance 3, VA wise) worse than everyone before, and part of it was because of the 4Kids cast. That, and when Robotnik started being called Eggman. The shitty friends stuff was there too, but they were smart enough to spare Tails and Knuckles and rant how the newer characters replaced them.

I just went ahead and followed what the fans were saying and went back to side with Mario. Back in Brawl when they made comedy videos that sometimes made Sonic the victim, I often root for his predator. I did get games like Unleashed Wii and Rush, and despite that I was "not allowed" to like these games, I gave them a try regardless.

I didn't really catch anybody saying Sonic started to suck ever since he went 3D, got a redesign or a voice to begin with. It was always Sonic Adventure 2 that was called the "Best Sonic game." Then came Sonic 4, and then I started hearing "Sonic doesn't have Green Eyez!!!" "Sonic 3&K is the real GOAT!!!",  and I'm like "okaaaay...?"

It ultimately was after Generations came out and people started saying "Bring back more playable characters!", "Jason Griffin is the best Sonic!", "Sonic Unleashed and Black Knight were awesome!", "Sonic Adventure 1 was better than 2!"- that I snapped out of it and realized how silly this entire thing was getting. I got so sick of these complaints that I secretly has hoping something worse comes along and they could finally agree on something.

As of recently, I guess I got my wish.

      - Rant (sort of)

tbh i wasn't ever super pissed about the sonic VAs changing, I prefered the adventure cast but I still wasn't pissed

POKEMON'S voice changes on the other hand....

  11. I wonder if they're just gonna retcon GUN into a furry animal military force. That'd be amusing to see.
  12. Oh man, this Rocko special is pretty on the nose...

  13. Fire Emblem is LOOONG

  14. I think this is the problem in and of itself; what the resistance does "matters", but it's given no focus to really have any impact on the player. Telling and not showing basically. This is kind of a loaded question though; it kind of goes without saying that everybody should be able to contribute something, but there are only a handful of main characters the game will focus on. The resistance aren't the focus of the story...at least anyone outside of Sonic, Classic, and the Avatar anyway. Those are the main characters and the ones the story is about, so it kind of goes without saying that they would have the most weight on the narrative. Now if this specifically about how nobody but those three contributed much to Forces...well...like I said "telling and not showing" is in full effect here. And really, its just one of the many problems with Forces` narrative, but I'm not here to talk about that.
  15. Good on you for owning up, mad respect on that. Legit, because I know it's difficult given the current situation, so it's not like your position is unjustified. That said, I don't think it's shallow at all for people to want the basics of what's being offered in every other comparable video game series, nor do I think people should stop wanting it either. Mania established that you CAN have a complete Sonic game with little to no shortcomings; all it takes is for somebody to actually give a damn. And if nobody at Sega or ST care enough, then they need to bring in somebody who does. The fact that people STILL are making this much of a fuss in 2019 shows that people do in fact still like Sonic and want what's best for him, and for the series to get the respect it deserves by people who care enough to do it justice.
