Kuzu the Boloedge got a reaction from MainJP in Popular and unpopular Sonic opinions you agree and disagree with!
The only character that you absolutely need in every game is Sonic, but I can at least understand the general sentiment behind a recurring cast for the sake familiarity. My issues kind of stem that the writing surrounding them does not lend itself to making me want to see them. The writing has seriously taken a dip when they have managed to turn me against Tails, when I originally had no issues with his involvements before. He just isn't written that interesting and it mostly stems from nobody really understanding what to do with the character.
And the same is true for Amy, Knuckles, Shadow, all of them with arguable exception of Eggman. They're all just so bland and unlikable nowadays and most of them are piggybacking off their legacy from over 10 years ago. Take off the nostalgia goggles and you're not really left with much nowadays.  Which is why I'm not as hard on critics when they slam these characters. Fans like them for their potential storytelling based on their past, but what about the people that grew up in the past 10 years? How are you going to sell them on characters like Amy or Knuckles when they're so disconnected from everything nowadays?

I know the storytelling from 1999-2009 wasn't exactly stellar, but I at least felt there was a sense of things happening and progressing in every game and that's important when you're trying to entice people on your characters. You want them to care about what's happening and become invested in it. If there's no sense of progression or purpose, your audience is going to get bored quickly and just move on to something else.

Kuzu the Boloedge got a reaction from Miragnarok in Should SEGA replace Takashi Iizuka and Sonic Team and replace them with a new talented team?
The amount of scapegoating in the opening post is sad, and it's pretty symbolic to the current state of the series. Nobody knows what's going on, so they pick the most public face and demonize him.

Iizuka is probably one of the few people left who actually gives a shit about the series despite popular belief that he doesn't. He actively engages people and constantly talks about what's happening in the series. There's no other figure who even tries to do that anymore.

His hands are tied. He probably wants to make better games, but Sega are the ones who dictate the series and have final say and what is done. And in case it wasn't obvious, Sega have realized that they don't have to make good games because Sonic is such a household name that any product with his name or face will attract attention. Combine that with Sega commissioning Sonic Team to make a new game every 2-3 years under shitty work conditions, then you can see why the series is in the state its in.

Its hilariously similar to what's happening with Pokemon right now and for similar reasons.

Almost every time Sega has handed Sonic off to someone else the results are about as good as what ST can put out if not worse. Sonic Mania is the exception but even the things I heard about that game's dev through the grapevine werent pleasant.
Sega's management is fucked up. It's been an open secret for years. A lot of artists who have worked with them have said this outright. That needs to be fixed before anything else. It needed to be fixed back in the 90s before they chased Naka out the first time. Let alone the increasing pile of industry vets they've chased away since. It's still going on. Remember the Mania DRM incident and how Taxman openly expressed his disagreement?
    They need to be uprooted.

Kuzu the Boloedge reacted to Tornado in Scooby-Doo Return To Zombie Island: Release Date ,Poster, Screens, & Synopsis
I'm amused because they took made it a tie in to the movie held on the pedestal as perhaps the one thing that truly tried to make the Scooby Doo series go beyond the schlocky fun that it had been trapped in since the beginning. The movie that realized that EVEN THE IDEA of character development in a Scooby Doo property was just insane, but decided to completely run with it anyway as the framing device for much of the plot.

And then they made it look pretty much like an episode of Scooby Doo Where Are You anyway. It's not good when you can tell from the thumbnail of the trailer alone that they missed the point.

Frank Welker is increasingly a treasure to the franchise though. Even the shittiest of these movies it seems like he's the only one who knows what he's in and has fun with it (probably because he knows he's the only one who they couldn't just replace with increasingly bad soundalikes).

I feel it’s really easy to tell who it’s for. The millions of 3DS owners out there that don’t need the extra functionality of the standard Switch. If we’re saying that no one plays Mario Kart and Smash handheld, then how do we explain that people continued to play Mario Kart 7 and Smash for 3DS instead of buying a Wii U? It will especially appeal to Japanese audiences.

It's a Switch that cuts costs by being portable only. That makes it more ideal for children (no need to have a TV, less parts to break) and an economical alternative. It's a downgrade, and it's supposed to be.
I'm not a fan of this thing either, but I'm not the target audience.

Kuzu the Boloedge reacted to Wraith in What game are you currently playing?
Recently finished up a Cuphead co op run and am now doing it all again in single player. It might be one of the finest games I've ever played.
I really love it when games feel laser focused. Cuphead has a simple set of rules that it just stretches and stretches through a fucking endless wave of creative bosses. Bosses in general became kinda scarce in games, let alone good ones, so cuphead's pretty flawless portrayal of them hit the spot. They have so much personality and expression while also telegraphing their attacks in a way that's easy to read. It's still chaotic as fuck but through dying amd trying again you'll get a feel for the patterns. They're the perfect length too, so the game's lack of checkpoints never feel like a bother. It feels good to inch closer and closer through their varied phases with each attempt. Every time you hit that KNOCKOUT screen it'll feel like a triumph.

Listen, I didn't say he was perfect; there's never going to be a perfect version of every character ever. All I'm saying is that...he's actually a character in Boom who can exist outside of being Sonic's sidekick. Boom is a differnet universe, and should not be judged to the same standards as every other version since that's absurd.

Kuzu the Boloedge reacted to Wraith in Tails: between success and disservice of the character
A couple years ago I realized I was straight up apathetic toward Tails. Even when he was contributing more I straight up don't care much for the "boy genius" arechetype. I liked him more when he was Sonic's "puppy" since that's at least a characer trait that has room for growth and development. He didn't just drop exposition and finesse whatever gadget the game needed together.
I'm with the above post that I prefer more nuanced and flawed characters but I don't think the newer games do a good job at that either. One consistency from Unleashed onward is Sonic getting punished in some way for acting out, jumping the gun or underestimating his opponents. This never happens with Tails in Lost World or Forces. It always comes down to Tails being right in how he's feeling despite how it seems from the outsider's perspective. He was right about being the one that needs to turn off the machine in Sonic Lost World amd right about how fighting eggman was pointless without Sonic in forces. Flawed characters are better than the hypercompetent superhero take, but its kind of hard for me to watch flawed characters that never get pushback for screwing up.
I think you could combine elements of Tails across the series to make a pretty fun character. Give up on him being hypercompetent. Let his inventions have more flaws or quirks. Let him be more of an active participant in the game but also let him be a kid who can get jealous, discouraged or scared. I'd be okay with him growing out of Sonic's shadow as long as they did it in a way that didn't shed him of most of his quirks.

Kuzu the Boloedge got a reaction from Miragnarok in The Deadly Six will stay...
I'm beginning to feel the hate for them is somewhat disproportionate. Yea, they're boring and one-note, but how they've been described here, you'd swear they were the most  obnoxious characters ever.
Though, I suppose constantly reappearing after their lackluster introduction is beginning to grate on people's nerves.
It's just kind of weird because so many will defend other characters in this series who are similarly lackluster, but the only character that really springs to mind is Silver.

That said, yea the main issue is Lost World's story is more about Sonic, Tails and Eggman teaming up than it is about stopping the Zeti, who are really just a means to an end. Someone to justify the conflict of the main characters.
That by itself would be fine but...the Zeti do not factor in at all in the conflict between Sonic Tails and Eggman and exist mostly independent of it. All of their scenes are rather generic bouts of villainy and nothing else, while the real meat of the story is with the main characters.
Because of that, the Zeti feel more like plot devices than genuine characters, they only exist to give Sonic someone to beat up.
That wouldn't be bad either...but the main conflict with Sonic Tails and Eggman is pretty poorly written itself. So the main hook of the story is bad in addition to being driven by lackluster villains.
The Zeti come off as terrible because they were never supposed to be the driving force of the story and are, as I mentioned, plot devices to drive the real meat of the story; Sonic Tails and Eggman's shaky alliance...except that its poorly written and so all you're left with are a bunch of one-note villains to drive a terrible conflict of the main characters.
So the Zeti are really just another symptom of Lost World's bad writing, so the hatred is understandable, if a bit misplaced. In fact, its extremely similar to Silver who was similarly hated due to how bad the writing of 06 was.
So yea, it's not that the Zeti themselves are bad, it's that their presence is a constant reminder of how badly written Lost World is. Same with how Silver was hated due to his association with 06.

Yes, because if the video is making as good a point as you're saying it is, why the click bait title to begin with? There are enough people to know what's going on, understand what's going and why its happening, and still want to play the game. So I don't understand the need for such a title that basically reads "HAHA, FUCK YOU IF YOU'RE EXCITED FOR THIS GAME". Even if you're making a good point, doesn't make the title any less of bait.

Just in this topic alone we have people trying to argue down the opposition from their own stance. Whether you're with game freak or not, some of the language when people are being critical gets a bit too aggressive for my taste.

I don't really have anything to add to the people who are against this, I just wanted to give my own POV on the situation and to anyone else who might feel slighted because they can't speak about anything they may like about the game at the moment because of this .

Kuzu the Boloedge got a reaction from Mad Convoy in Pokémon Sword & Shield (Coming November 15th, 2019)
People are trying to defend the game because they're trying to deflect the fact that they personally don't care about the issues, and avoid unrest from the part of the fanbase that do. Fact is, doesn't matter what side you're on, what matters is how you behave. And the bottom line, most people are acting completely obnoxious and overly passionate about this.
I don't care how much you love Pokemon because at the end of the day, its a fucking video game. You will wake up tomorrow and go about your business regardless of what this game does, so getting so upset about this ultimately does nothing but harm your own peace of mind at the end of the day. But because the Internet is the way it is, the only way people feel good is if they rage at each other all day, even though nobody is really saying anything and therefore, will just go in circles accomplishing nothing.

To give my personal thoughts; I don't care. I'm going to buy the games, because part of me is still curious about what they're going to add. I don't care about the stuff they're cutting. It sucks, and I will hope they change for the better in the future but at the end of the day, I just wanna play a video game. And I'm positive most people just wanna play a video game too. Because once again, its not that fucking serious.
And I'm not trying to downplay people who have legitimate, and constructive criticism (and I implore people to look up what those bolded words mean) towards the games, because I will admit the issues surrounding them are real. But you really have to look at yourself, sit down and think how much a video game is getting you this emotionally invested and wonder is it really worth all of this stress.
