  1. >Nobody likes the D6

Sega: Let's bring them back always.

    >People....don't completely hate Infinite

Sega: Naw, we feel he wasn't a good fit for the series.

This company bugs the fuck out of me...

Infinite is rubbish, but he has way more going for him than the Deadly Six because he's an actual character.

D6 have pretty clear characterizations, just none people liked. But a character is a character.

Infinite does have more going for him but since all that depth is pretty bad it evens out for me. At least the D6 know what their purpose is and don't try to be anything more

Ehhh they're about the same if I'm being honest.

I know we're not gonna go lying to ourselves suggesting that the Deadly 6 don't have a fanbase Kuzu. Tsk.

There is literally only ONE person who I have seen like the D6 without any irony, and even then I can't tell if they're serious or not. Like legit, any time I hear about the Deadly Six, it's never anything positive whether it's here, Reddit, /vg/ or even YT.

At the very least, some people enjoy how pretentiously edgy Infinite was, but I have literally never seen a positive word ever uttered about the Deadly Six.

Personally I still don't see the D6 as characters, just character-types. None of them ever display any real personality beyond being their one line description. He's the crazy one, she's the lady of the group, he's the old man, ect. There was no thought put in there (or LW's narrative in general but hey). Same could really be said for Infinite to a degree but at least he was given a couple of lines of backstory.

I do think that all of them can be done well, but atm, there's just little for me to care about.

Though, Infinite's design > D6's design every day of the week.

d6>infinite, without hesitation. for once sega is doing the right thing, more or less.

Infinite, for better or worse, is the first time in a long time that a character has attempted some level of pathos rather than just serving a function as a video game boss.

Yes @Soniman we know you think Zavok is sexy.

I dunno, the problem why the Zeti is that they are six, that's a lot, and they hardly get any screentime, not even good writing that is a far away dream in the games, I guess the D6 fit Sonic more in terms of personality? pseudo-humor, the savage dark one liners are quite ridiculous imo, Infinite on the other hand took himself too seriously. They are the opposite, I don't know honestly. I kinda prefer the Deadly Six at this point, but Infinite's concept like most of Forces stuff was simply better, it had more going on than a mono-trait.

The biggest question is why and how do you know that.

They're both bad but for completely different reasons

At least Zavok fills the roll of generic bad guy who has somewhat of a presence; s'why he keeps getting reused while all the others sit in bad cartoon character timeout, besides Zazz

    18. Jack at Home

      Jack at Home

Okay they have an arc where they are sorta menacing in the comics, but what if they made a cartoon where they are written as actually funny? That is some potential, it's there. I just want them to be recurring, not just Zavok as generic side fodder antagonist.

    19. The Deleter

The D6 aren't even bad cartoons because they're generic. The entire appeal of them as a cartoon is "Look at how hungry/feminine/old/sad I am" but they're used without any energy put behind them. It's like their characters are reading their caricatures from an old book and it's awful. I can't think of a single kid that would find them hilarious, much less entertaining to watch.

@Kuzu Some of you don't remember the other Soni and it shows

      And yes they multiply

i will gladly take "just there to be a boss" over the "pathos" of "evilevilevilevilevil i'm scared because i got beat up 😢 evilevilevilevil"

      The Deleter

Honestly at that point I'd rather have Infinite's/Zavok's callous jeering and grandstanding over omnomnom hungry if they're there to just be a boss

This guy literally just should of been a creation of Eggman like how Shadow was Gerald's creation. At least then he could have a connection to Shadow and him disliking sonic would make some sense.

I'm still hung up on the tourtured past/badass angle, otherworldly gear, and gemstone in his chest panning out to be nothing related to his character, and literally the lamest backstory in the world

It could have been cool if he was artificially created and brainwashed or came from a different world but nope

      Got beat by Shadow

Just sad Jackal boy who got insecure

@Diogenes One is a character, the other is not. I don't really care how much you hate Infinite; the fact remains that he has a character that can be described with more one sentence and thus, is more likely to be remembered by the audience.

The only reason people even remember the Deadly Six is because Sega keeps shoving them in every game in a desperate attempt to get people to care about them.

@Dejimon11 That makes Metal Sonic redundant tho.

and i don't care if you define him as being more of a character; he's a disaster from start to finish, just as much an empty cliche as any of the d6, just desperately pretending to be more. he is "shth using gunshots as a menu confirmation sound" in character form.

sonic characters were once more than just functions. Infinite is more or less a return to that idea, even if he was rough around the edges in pretty much every way.

better than every new character serving a raw gameplay function like "power up", "boss," and "host of party games" without anything interesting to grab onto or any state of mind to emphasize with.

i might not be particularly fond of him but his design is the first cool one in a while and he might be a sign that someone on this series is listening, finally.
