      Looks great!!!

  4. yo FUCK these stairs in Threads of Fate

  5. Sega is temporarily giving away a Golden Axe sequel prototype on the 18th

    1. Adamabba

      That's pretty cool

    2. Teoskaven

Iir, this is the pitch that SEGA Australia proposed for their initiative after they were done with Castle of Illusion.

  6. Any PS3 games (including PS1/2 Classics) worth checking out?

    1. Polkadi~☆

SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2

    2. pppp

Puppeteer is a criminally underappreciated 2d platformer, Modnation Racers is a good kart racing game, PS All Stars is a decent Sony Smash clone, The first 2 Little Big Planet games paved the way for Mario Maker(Miyamoto himself said he was a fan of them back in the day), Ratchet and Clank is great of course. You also can play on it the definitive version of Ico..

    3. Sean

I picked up physical copies of DDS but I've been eyeing Persona 2 and Devil Summoner since those are much more expensive on the second hand market. Might look into Puppeteer as well.

    4. Crow the BOOLET

      Crow the BOOLET

Spec Ops the Line comes to mind. Its a FPS yes but it managed to defy the tropes other FPS were doing at the time to the point where it deconstructs the genre. It hasn't gotten a port to PS4 yet but its worth checking out.

    5. Polkadi~☆

I thought that was a third person shooter?

    6. Sean

I'm mostly looking into exclusives and PS1/2 classics (Spec Ops is on PC) because Good Guy Sony is getting rid of PS3 games on the web storefront in a few days, but yeah I have heard interesting things about it sans spoilers. Might keep an eye out for a GOG sale that has it.

    7. Polkadi~☆

If you have a Japanese PSN account, you can get Shadow the Hedgehog.

No idea why you'd want to do that, but you can.

    8. Sean

I haven't gotten much use out of my Japanese account but I did buy Twinkle Star Sprites: La Petite Princesse.

    9. Crow the BOOLET

      Crow the BOOLET

Oh yeah Haunting Ground aka Demento is on JP PSN too. Its one of my favorite games but you might need to either know Japanese or the game before hand to figure out what the menus and items do. I don't think its too bad that you can play with the language barrier since everything is spoken in English anyways but yeah.

    10. DanJ86

I happened to watch a video about "Ape Escape," it's a game I've wanted to try but never had the chance. I've only heard good things if your looking to try it.

I also really got into a game called "Choro Q" on PS2. It was like a strange adventure game in which you play as a sentient car and win races while traveling an overworld. It felt like a fairly niche game and while I loved it 15 years ago, it might not be for everyone.

Oh, if you like platforming and customising, you could look into "Graffiti Kingdom." You can create your own character and people make some creative stuff if you check out the game on YouTube.

I don't know how available my last two suggestions will be.

    11. Sean

I'm no good with horror games but I do love watching them so I'll probably check out a longplay of Haunting Ground, especially since it's in-season.

I have the US and Japanese (PSN) versions of Ape Escape and it's pretty good. The other two don't seem to be on PSN at all though.

    12. pppp

@Sean To be fair the not purchasing thing is only for web and mobile. ps3 content will still be purchasable on the console itself:

"The biggest change is that PS3, PSP, and PS Vita games will no longer be able to be purchased from mobile or web storefronts. They will only be available through the store apps on the PS3 or PS Vita. Notably, the PSP store on the device was discontinued back in 2016, meaning PSP players will only be able to digitally purchase games through a PS3 or PS Vita."

    13. Milo

Will vouch for the LBP games (1 & 2), absolutely fantastic games, and ModNation Racers being criminally underrated. (There's also LBP Karting, which is effectively MNR but with an LBP flavor.)

And if you like PS1 platformers, the original Crash and Spyro trilogies are up there, as well as the original Crash Team Racing.

thatgamecompany's stuff is pretty nice too, although I'm only familiar with flower. Heard incredible things about Journey (which was pegged by many as a GOTY when it came out), as well as good things about flow.

    14. Sean

Trying to purchase games on the PS3 is a nightmare so it might as well be dead at this point. I'm sure Sony will kill the PS3 storefront for real in the near future. This fucking company does a tremendous job making me regret not buying an Xbox.

    15. Polkadi~☆

Also, even if you don't have the earlier models of the PS3 with backwards compatibility for the PS2, every model supports PS1 games.

I'd say to get the games you absolutely cannot get physically, like the rarer limited release games.

    16. Sean

Generally I prioritize games I can't find for under 50 dollars or Japanese imports. Like yeah I could buy a physical copy of Persona 2 but the prices on Pricecharting make me not want to lol

Earlier, I picked up Speed Power Gunbike and Rakugaki Showtime on Japanese PSN. The latter is pretty fun, it's basically Smash Bros. if everyone was Ness. Also it has Marina Liteyears which I didn't know about until I fought her!!

  7. I hope Sega modified the Sonic 2 ROM on Steam so that it forces intrusive ads and broken controls onto the player even for people who have previously paid for it, for the true free Sonic giveaway experience.

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

Can they make sure that it crashes a lot too? I feel like that's a key part to the Sonic 2 experience

  8. whenever I see That Topic

  9. This Blaze mod for Sonic Mania is really good. Every game needs a Blaze mod

  10. The puyo boss in Mania always makes me feel hella dumb

    1. Polkadi~☆

Either I'm just really good at Puyo Puyo...

      ...or u suck lawl

    2. The Deleter

      The Deleter

During the rest of the entire game: Haha yes, p = mv, s = Δt, f = µN - sin(arctan(xbutton.hold()))

Getting thrown into that boss: uuuuh *mind rapidly flips through the tetris-esque games playbook upside down*

    3. Celestia

I don't understand Puyo enough to bother with anything fancy in that boss, since it feels like he self-destructs after a while anyway. I don't know if that's true but whenever I played Mean Bean I never got very far since you kind of HAVE to do combos.

  11. It's pretty weird how people have been acting like SMRPG was never an important game for the last few years

    1. Dejimon11

They only do it to downplay Geno’s importance

    2. Dejimon11

They only do it to downplay Geno’s importance

    3. Sean

I don't mind if people don't like Geno or don't want him in Smash, and tbh I don't really care as much anymore either, but I won't stand by this blatant disrespect for SMRPG I've been seeing as of late

    4. Thigolf

      Important in what way..?

    5. Sean

SMRPG was designed to be an entry point for the JRPG genre in the west because Squaresoft's RPGs had only been selling well in Japan up to that point, and it was a major unprecedented collaboration between two of the most popular video game developers featuring the most popular video game mascot at the time. The historical context surrounding it is significant and it sold about as well as one could hope for since it was near the end of the SNES's lifespan.

  12. I'm not mad about Steve Minecraft but I am furious trying to get the Steam version of SA2 to work after reinstalling it which never seems to work JESUS CHRIST THIS PORT SUCKS.

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

I'm not sure what the GCN/DC modding scene is like for SA2, but if you're not fussed about mods then you should try playing it that way. Otherwise, I think if you Google the problem you're having then you may be able to find an answer. Is it just that the game literally went boot? I've heard of that issue before.

It's a shoddy port through and through. Like, the source material of SA2B isn't quite as garbage as SADX and SEGA at least bothered to implement widescreen, but even the original SA2B on GCN had issues that they didn't bother to fix. Each subsequent Sonic port and re-release is almost always a downgrade from what came before.

    2. Sean

I can't live without mods but the journey to get there is hell

    3. Ryannumber1gamer

I haven't been able to get SA2 to launch on Steam, period. If I don't play in performance mode on my laptop, I can get to 60fps locked, but it drops to 30 every few seconds, and if I play in performance mode, no matter what I do, going into the config file and setting it to 60fps, it will still run at 120 no matter what.

I don't understand how SEGA get away with still offering this shitpile for money, it doesn't work.

    4. Tracker_TD

this might sound dumb but check your audio device settings aren't set for playback above like, 16 or 24 bit or something like that

because yes having your audio playback quality too high can actually stop the port working

  13. Thank god it wasn't Doomguy

    1. Dejimon11

Wait what’s wrong with doom guy?

    2. Sean

      He's like Waluigi for dudebros

  14. I'm not too interested in Steve but his inclusion will make a lot of kids happy and they are the only Smash fans who matter

    1. Kuzu

But Sean, what about MY feelings and MY opinions. Why won't anyone listen to ME.

  15. Thanks I hate it

    1. Thigolf

      ...why go through this effort

    2. Marcello

      He looks 15 now...

    3. Adamabba

Doesn't even look like the same dude

    4. KHCast

      ....an upgrade huh?

    5. Emperor Robrainiac

      Emperor Robrainiac

Um... wow, is it just me or does this new face resemble Tom Holland's?

    6. Tarnish

Shouldn't we be used to Peter Parker's face constantly changing at this point? It's been a few decades already.

    7. Sean

Last I checked I can still see Tobey's face in the Raimi trilogy

    8. NegaMix

      Well this seems... pointless.

So if Peter shows up in Miles' game, this is the face we'll likely be seeing?

    9. Tarnish

And I assume you can still see whoever's face that is in the PS4 version. If not, well we should all be getting used to that with digital platforms, they can alter whatever they want, whenever they want in the games we already bought.

    10. Ryannumber1gamer

This was a really bad idea. The model already looked great, and now it just looks weird as fuck.

@NegaMetallix - It is. It was confirmed this is the new Peter model.

    11. Wraith

They put out a cutscene of him next to the doc ock model and they just look like they're from two completely different games lol

    12. Boomer

It looks even worse next to MJ. She looks like an older sister now...

    13. NegaMix

Yeah, that face just doesn't work. Like, no offense to the new motion capture actor, but even with Insomniac's excuse it really feels like they made this change primarily to make Peter look closer to his MCU counterpart, which is completely unnecessary.

If I wanted to play as "MCU Spidey" in the game, I'd just wear one of the costumes.

    14. Jovahexeon Jax Joranvexeon

      Jovahexeon Jax Joranvexeon

Man, tarnish the thought of trying to not bow to the MCU for once, I guess. SMH

Wonder if this is why it's required to buy Miles Morales before getting the remaster, if they knew what backlash this would get.

    15. AWild No.1 washed up gamer

      AWild No.1 washed up gamer

Is that the barry allen actor from the flash tv series?

    16. Dejimon11

It's meant to look like Yuri but it comes off looking like Tom Holland and Scott the Woz

  16. Do you think Sonic died before the events of The Wind Waker

    1. Sean

It's easy to assume that Sonic died when Hyrule got flooded but I think it's possible he's still out there, he's a resourceful guy who has survived much worse before. It's also weird that the game doesn't mention at all his whereabouts or if he's even alive but I guess they were saving him for the sequel

    2. AWild No.1 washed up gamer

      AWild No.1 washed up gamer

No, but I do know that mario was sent to lost hex before the events of sonic lost World happened.

    3. Celestia

Most fans agree that he perished considering all the hints. However since BOTW is said to potentially take place in any/all of the timeline splits, it seems he was somehow resurrected at some point.

    4. Plumbers_Helper

He seems to be doing fine, but I not sure if this is the same Sonic from Ocarina of Time or just another descendant of Sonic.

  17. -sees an old Unleashed topic that was bumped- I don't want to remember what I thought of Unleashed back then

    1. Kuzu

      Ready for some cringe bro.

    2. Polkadi~☆

I already can't read my old Sonic Forces posts. So much hope, utterly crushed.

    3. Strickerx5

Huh, seems like I never responded to this...

      maybe i should change that

  18. There is a Wind Waker GCN hack that, among other things, implements the swift sail (plus the automatic wind changing) and optionally makes it even faster. I'm never touching the butt ugly Wii U version again

    1. azoo

      aaaaaaaaaand downloaded

    2. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

I don't see anything about this making the dungeons actually good though

    3. Sean

There's no need since they're already good as is

    4. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Ngl, bringing the conveniences of the Wii U version (and extras) over to the GCN original is great for those who prefer it for whatever reason and I'm not knocking the efforts and skills of those involved, but I just don't like Wind Waker at all. Art style, sailing, dungeon design, game layout... Bleh. The Wii U version was my first actually playing the game and I was sorely disappointed by it.

If I'm ever going to replay it to give it another chance, I'll just get my Wii U out. The convenience of inventories and maps on the second screen in the 3DS and Wii U versions of OoT, MM, WW and TP are invaluable. Nintendo even knew this when they were developing BotW as a Wii U exclusive game.

    5. Sean

The Zelda games had some of the best usage of the gamepad on the system and I'll forever be bitter that Nintendo has ditched dual screen gaming for the foreseeable future.

    6. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Yep. Dual screen gaming is a real boon.

  19. I'm replaying Wind Waker on the Gamecube. It's brought back some good memories but I made an extra save file after Forsaken Fortress so that in future playthroughs I can just start at Windfall Village. Fuck that place.

    1. Adamabba
    2. dbzfan7

Wii U version or go home.

    3. Sean

      That one's hideous

    4. dbzfan7

Swift Sail is all I need in the Wii U version.

  20. Spent the afternoon playing Metroid Prime via PrimeHack, it's insane just how much nicer it is playing with PC FPS controls compared to the official schemes.

    1. JezMM

I made a tweet years back about how Luigi is so accepting because he doesn't question Mario wearing dresses in Odyssey, but now that I think about it, this instance really goes above and beyond to show what an accepting and good-hearted soul Luigi is.

  22. Picking Luigi after having not played Galaxy 1 in over five years might not have been the best idea

    1. StaticMania

      You can just pick Luigi?

      Off the bat?

    2. Sean

I'm using my old save file
